This is a regular spot for us...for all special occassions, when out of town guests come or just for date night. Authentic Argentine food with a nice comfortable atmospher, with great service.

Received drinks relatively quickly, but took 45 minutes for appetizers, didn't get main courses until nearly 2 hours into the stay. Took so long that we just had to take the mains to go; I've never been to a restaurant where I waited so long for the mains that I didn't even eat it in the restaurant. Wasn't that great when I got home either. Price is too high for the amount and quality of the food. Won't go again, wouldn't recommend either.

Went to NYC for a nice family trip. We had Novecento recommended to us - I lived in Argentina for 2 years in the mid '80's - really wanted some real food from there.
They did not let me down!

I haven't been to Novecento for a while now, but the food is great as ever. Our waiter was very attentive, without hovering. The music was way too loud when our party arrived, but he reduced the volume so that we could continue our conversation.

Unfortunately this was a disappointing experience. So went there with a friend of mine whom had not seen for about a year. I had a $50 coupon from Open Table from rewards and presented it to the waiter. They had to take my phone hostage for about 10-minutes to verify its validity. They didn't have some kind of a scanner system so that my phone would not have been necessary to take off site.
We ordered calamari to split for appetizer and I had the chicken grill and my buddy had salmon. The chicken was dry and could have used some kind of a sauce in addition I tasted raw chicken. My buddy's salmon was the farm variety upon which he quipped this is void of the omega-3s this fish is known for.
Will not go there again any time.

Ten years ago this was a great place for a moderately priced decent steak dinner. The prices have ratcheted up to the point where for ten bucks more, you can be eating at a real steakhouse with a vastly better entree. Move on, nothing to see here.

the staff was so gentle and helpful. Went there for a meeting with a wine journalist and they provided nice glasses, decanters, ice bowls, ice and everything i needed.
The only complain we have is that the place was so warm. We needed to cold even the red wines placing them into the ice.

Not that great for the price. They gave us a mistake order, placed it on the table, I took a bite. Then they took it away and gave it to another table. The other party was about to eat from it, when I told them to stop because I already eat from it. What a mess. I paid my for my appetizer and left, and I had dinner somewhere else.

Novecento was OK. Though we had a reservation nobody greeted us upon arrival. I had to search for someone to seat us. I finally found someone and he said we could sit upstairs where there was A/C. (hot night) We discovered that the upstairs was empty so we said we'd prefer to sit outside. The gentleman who had helped us said if you want to sit outside go ask someone downstairs. Finally we just sat ourselves outside as we could not locate anyone to seat us. Eventually a waiter came over. The food was good, but the restaurant was packed with people watching soccer and sreaming at the TV. I probably would not return.

The restaurant is very elegant and lovely. The service was excellent. We ordered the sampler, which comes with variety of grilled meat and steak. The empanadas and the skirt steak were good, but others were over-cooked. We had flan as dessert, which was average.

We had empanadas, and a selection of the salads. We enjoyed our food, which was well prepared and yummy. The steaks were good, well seasoned and cooked the the desired point.
However we find it a bit too expensive for the offering. Empanadas were delicious, but if you consider they are street food in Argentina, they came at a steep price. Also the salads are a little overhyped (they mention organic tomatoes, when there are exactly 2 tiny cherry tomatoes split in half). The staff was attentive, fast, and we found seat for 6 people on a Saturday night. There was music playing, which we wished wasn't there.
Overall, I would go again.

The restaurant was too noisy. The music was loud and the people was louder and louder. Imposible to have a conversation. The food wasn't very good either. The mollejas were chewy! The provoleta didn't have the crispy top. The don't change the cuttelry in betwen dishes and if sou ask for it, they do it but youhave to wait for ages until the ger you clean ones.

I normally love this place but we were so disappointed on Saturday as we had booked our table for 8.45pm but we had to wait at the bar for our table until 9.50pm, the head waiter gave us a round of drinks on the house, however my husband and I had convinced friends of ours to join us for dinner as we were always raving about Novecento, so it was embarrassing to have to wait so long for our table. We then had to wait over 15 minutes for the wine to be served at the table. My food was good, my husband wasnt good and everything was quite cold in temp, overall it was a very disappointing night, don't know if I'd go back.

The best thing about this restaurant was that our table was available when we arrived. The food was terrible. The parrillada was not authentic and was just a couple of pieces of beef, chicken and sausage cut into pieces. Two of us ordered the strip steak and it was mediocre, the chicken milanese was so bad that after one taste it was sent back. The coffee was fine but the staff had to go to the basement to get splemda. There are plenty of better places in NYC to eat!

We booked this on Saturday afternoon at about 4pm for an 8:30 sitting for 8 people so options were not plentiful and we were not exactly sure what we were going to get. However everything went well. Food was good, staff were good and we had an excellent and probably quite raucous dinner.

This is the 2nd time we have been to Novecento, the first was during the week. On a Saturday night the crowd was more lively and we struggled a little to communicate with our friends. The food was good, although my entree - NY Strip Steak was quite tough and was not as well presented as I would have expected. They also had the Stanley Cup playing which I must admit I wasn't unhappy about. However 1/3 of the way through the TV's were switched to some obscure boxing event. When I asked if we could return to the hockey, I was told that the owner had a business interest in the boxing and they weren't allowed to change it. Overall this second visit did not live up to my first which I was hoping it would.
