Nova is just around the corner from our apartment, so we drop in frequently because they have good comfort food basics, the booths are comfortable, it is usually fairly quiet and the service people are friendly. They have good marguerites and cosmos (for my wife) and they are one of the few bars that stocks Talisker single malt Scotch. An excellent combination of features. We made a reservation with out of town guests because everywhere was jammed (game 4 of the World Series and just two blocks from AT&T Park). We got there at 7 pm (7th inning?) and the placed was jammed to the gunnels. Still, the waitress acknowledged our reservation and had a table almost ready. We got drinks and food despite the incredible mob.

The food was absolutely delicious. I have the french toast with apples and brown sugar....LOVED IT! The server was on point, as well as the busser/expo; they were both very helpful and efficient. Even with a group of 8 ladies with bottomless mimosas, I never had an empty glass.

We went for brunch and had a great time at this locale. The variety of benedicts was excellent and the tater tots side was unexpected, but appreciated by all of us. The bottomless mimosas were indeed bottomless and generous. It is not the most convenient spot if you don't live in South Beach, but on a non-game day, it's worth it for the little brunch gem.

While the bar is the focus, the food is very good. We tried three entrees - fried chicken, burger, and salmon. All three were delicious and served with different sides. The waitress checked back often enough (although dessert seemed to take a while.)

We selected this restaurant only because our first choice nearby did not have availability, yet our party was the only one there. The tables were bare and uninviting, although the original artwork was interesting. The atmosphere was more that of a dark neighborhood bar than a nice eatery. We spent about $20 each for a brunch which was mediocre at best. It's way over priced for the quality. The Mimosa was ok. But Tater Tots? They looked just like the frozen package variety, which certainly don't belong on a restaurant menu. The fresh fruit consisted of just two small chunks of honey dew melon. We could have done better at home.

This place was a big disappointment, however, it was convenient to the Giants ballpark so we had dinner there before a game. The restaurant is a bar with a few tables along one side of the wall. It was very dark and run down and was full of regulars at the bar. The food was OK, except the fried chicken was excellent. I was surprised that Open Table would have such a place on their SF restaurant list.

The only problem I had with Nova was that we couldn't order half of the menu. I think we went on a busy morning and they had run out of a fair amount of their brunch menu by 12. Other than that, what we ordered was good (would have rathered the benedict and tater tots instead of french fries) and the servers were fantastic.

Had lunch at Nova on game day. The wait staff was very nice, but the service was marginal, at best. Waited 15 minutes before the waitress took our order. After getting some coffee, waited another 10 minutes before cream was brought to the table (and I had to ask twice for it). My husband got his order before mine, and everything was overcooked. Waited another 10 minutes for my order to arrive, but it never did. As we were leaving, they offered to give me my order to go at no charge, but we were too frustrated, paid our bill, and left. Will not frequent this place again.

Went with a friend for brunch. Ambiance: The tables were mostly full. But the bar set-up of the place, it didn't seem full. More like an early weekday afternoon crowd. For all that it was really on the noisy side. It was difficult to talk/hear my friend. I've not been at night but could see it being a better set up for an evening of drinks, for brunch— not so much. Service: As empty as the place felt, I was surprised when the service was so slow. When the waitress came over she was very nice, but it took 10 minutes standing at the door before we were seated and longer before we got any further attention. Food: We were entranced by the thought of tater-tots, which were on-par. But nothing was outstanding. Maybe just come for drin

We had brunch on a nice sunny day, and thought it would have been even nicer if they had outside dining as the interior was rather dark. But the cheerful waitress and the food made up for that. My French Toast made with brioche and topped with caramelized bananas, strawberries, and a huge mound of whipped cream(more like whipped creme fraiche)was swimming in maple syrup - so decadently yummy! They have a large selection of eggs benedict, so my companion had the Grilled Steak with Bearnaise one, which came with a huge serving of tasty tator tots that were so addicting. She only wished that the steak had been a little less cooked, but overall we are glad to discover this little place located just a walking distance from AT&T Park.

The website for this restaurant is extremely overrated. I was expecting an upscale restaurant and it is not. Don't bother with online reservations because they didn't even have a list of names when we arrived. It is very small and not a good place to go if you want privacy with someone special. The Macaroni and Cheese reminded me of a watered down box Kraft - it is very overrated. I didn't taste all of the variety of cheeses that was suppose to be in there. I will say that it was served hot. The buffalo wings were some of the worse that I have had. My friend enjoyed the french fries. The lamb sliders still had a gamey taste so they were not seasoned good. Very dark inside. I was very disappointed and I will not go back.

The waitress seemed to be annoyed we were disturbing her since we were the only ones there. She also brought all of our food at once although we said we would be sharing and like it to be staggered. We were there for a birthday party and she was not happy that we seemed to be having a good time despite her. It's almost as though she was willing us to leave.

great place to go before the giants game. Reserved a table (not to many in the place) and my wife and I had a great meal along with some excellent drinks before the game. Our server forgot our water order (twice) but she apologized with a smile on her face (and she was very busy) and bought us a couple of drinks which was fantastic of her. Great way to turn a negative into a positve. Overall food and service were excellent.fun spot

Checked out the restaurant for the first time on a Friday night. We were seated in a spacious booth in the back (referred to as the "Godfather" table). I had the beet and goat cheese salad to start, my husband had the house greens- which were fabulous, plentiful, and quite a steal for $6. Our entrees came as we were still eating our salads.. weird timing, but our waitress apologized that our food had come up much quicker than expected. While this isn't necessarily a spot for the finest of dining or your pickiest foodie friend, it is exactly what we had hoped for: good food, good vibe, friendly people. Will definitely add Nova to our list of neighborhood favorites. A great place to go for a drink (or three), or a casual and tasty bite.

We had a great time at Nova! The food was really good - we mostly had appetizers since we had a big group so everyone could share/try different things. The only thing I would steer clear of is the fried chicken - not good at all, but the mac & cheese, the lobster quesadillas and the jumbo prawns were all amazing! Also a good wine list and yummy cocktails!

Great mac & cheese, steak salad and calamari. Next time will pass on the lobster quesadillas. Parking was a treat; free all along 2nd street on Saturday night. Service was great. The waitress was friendly without being over-bearing. The food was served quickly and was piping hot. The check was prepared within a minute of me asking for it (no kidding, less than 60 seconds). The patrons were mostly 30 something and the place filled up around 8pm. The bill for three of us with plenty to eat and drink including tip was $120. If you're looking for a low key place with good food and service, give it a shot.

Gee - I thought "prime" meant that the meat was rated prime but that wasn't the case as the steak tenderloin as well as the NY steak were tougher than something from a grocery store. And the waitresses are nice but don't have a clue on dietary restrictions. If I say I can't eat gluten/wheat - why put bread slices in my soup??? Someone said that they thought the food was better here than next door at 21st. I think they were terribly mistaken.

We were there at 5pm, right when they opened and prior to a 6:05 Giants game. The place was empty - we were concerned. Surprise! Full bar and full menu. Start with the tomato soup - a must have. The burgers were juicy, delicious quesadilla and a fantastic steak salad. Only two short blocks to the stadium - we were in our seats by 6:15. A great overall experience - we'll go back.
