Sat buffet brunch is very good when the restaurant is not too busy. Staff couldn’t handle it today. We were never offered water. Tea nit refilled and drinks ordered were not brought to the table. Plates were left on the table for s long time. I had to flag down someone twice to give them my used plates. We were there for one hour only and we were handed the bill while we were almost done. It was really bad today...very odd.

never mind boring ambience or high price...
but the most important they seem not to have any cooks at their kitchen. at all.
raw minced meat with raw egg and onion pretending to be tartrar.
raw steak of unidendified animal (elk tasted the same as bizon)
same sause in two diff dishes (none?)

one of us puked when got home.
another one ended up with upset stomach. so far the worst dining experience in my life.

more details upon request.

recommendation: bring your date there if want to break up with them.

Our dinner experiences at Notch8 have been wonderful, as has been the Afternoon Tea. However, on this visit we were there for the breakfast buffet. We arrived at 10 but by the time we were seated and ready to help ourselves to the buffet, it was closer to 10:15. Unfortunately they were closing the breakfast service at 10:30 and therefore the selection was limited and main staples such as bacon were not replenished. We did not go hungry, but at $37 a person, I must admit, we were both somewhat disappointed.

The three of us including my husband and my sister decided to treat ourselves to a Sunday night "dine out" experiences at the Notch8 restaurant Downtown. We ordered the 3-course set meal, everything went well with the appetizer beside the waitress seem to be unhappy waiting our table. The main course was where the nightmare began. I ordered the steak to be made medium rare. After a few bites I realized my steak was super chewy and overcooked. I asked the server to come over and look. She explained to me this is how it is done with everyone's dish and refused to make me a new steak. I complied and said fine can i order something else off the menu to replace the main course. So, I ordered a normal price main course on the menu, which was fine. When we asked for the bill, I was expecting them to credit the main course form the “dine out menu” out from our bill, but instead they charged me full price on everything including the steak I didn’t eat. I talked to waitress again and she began to be rude and said we have no rules like this! If you have any problems talk to my Manager. After a few min, the manager came over and explained that I ate more than half of the steak, and refused to refund. This is where I got disappointed and angry. This is the first time I dealt with a such unreasonable and irresponsible staff at a well-known restaurant. In conclusion after all the fiasco, the manager decided to only take 10 dollars off our bill to compensate for the "dine out menu" which is a total disrespect to their customers.

The nori chip texture was inconsistent. Some parts were chewy while others were crispy.

The striploin is presented like a prime rib and flavorful.

A good selection of wines that won’t put a big hole in your wallet.

Somewhat disappointed on the service and food at a restaurant that located in the Fairmont hotel. It was my first experience at this restaurant. I was trying their dine out menu and the steak and dessert already disappointed me and making me not wanting to return for another meal.

Unfortunately the efforts to create at a very unique dine-out appetizer and entree was lost due to the poor quality of the squid and beef. Both were the most chewy we could ever recall eating. The sauce flavours and textures were interesting and okay but not noteworthy. Albeit the dishes were visually very appealing. The french onion soup is excellent.

We went for dine out. 3 course meal for $40. The food was so so. The squid is too hard like eating a piece of rubber. The salmon was okay but not worth for 54th $40. A lot of $30 dinner course will taste better than that.

Your pricing on the website was very confusing as I believed the brunch was $34 not $60 and was shocked to find it was so much. As well, when we arrived we had to wait quite a while before we wheeler even acknowledged. Once we were seated, we started serving ourselves the brunch. My guest was told to stop taking food as the brunch didn't start until 11:30. It was very embarrassing for me and more than a bit upsetting. No one informed me the brunch didn't start until 11:30 and certainly when we were seated we weren't informed we needed to wait.
Overall, the food was great but not $60 great and the confusion at the beginning, and the cost really made the experience less than ideal.
I wouldn't recommend the brunch to anyone else because of the cost and the reception we received when we arrived.

Food was good for dine out and our server was super attentive. It was a bit loud as we were close to the private party room, but not bad over all. Cocktails are quite pricey, but they’re good!

Overall my experience at Notch8 Restaurant was okay. There was one issue that I had; for my main course I ordered the steak and it was the farthest steak I've ever had at a restaurant and I almost broke my tooth on the bone that was left over. I was very displeased and I mentioned it to our waiter and she just brushed it off. My appetizer and dessert were amazing and would definitely recommend those.

Dine Out Vancouver with some close friends. Food was absolutely terrible. The waiter asked us how we would like our steak but when my friend said rare he said they can only serve it medium rare because it has already been prepared. So what’s the point asking. More importantly I can’t understand why the steak was cooked before we even placed our order. All food was prepared as our appetizer arrived 1 min after we placed our order. Everything tasted terrible.

DineOut Vancouver menu - chef was very accommodating with the appetizer. We don’t eat tartare (raw) or octopus and mussels/shellfish so chef replaced with shrimp and smoked salmon. Beef strip loin was very tender and made to order - medium rare and medium. Flavourful accompaniments-mushrooms, etc. Finished well with maple chocolate lava cake and ice cream.

The Notch8 bread was so good! The mains were amazing too - we had the prime rib and the wild boar. Both are fantastic.

The cocktails were really yummy but we’re too stuffed so we couldn’t try their desserts - but other diners had chocolate cakes and ice cream and they all looked amazing.

I would say their appetisers can be improved and is not so great ($ wise and quality wise) when compared to their mains.

Overall I really enjoyed our dinner and I will surely return - but maybe just for their mains and dessert. And of course the bread too :).

Was disappointed at the service! It was a rainy day, was expecting coat hanger service will be offered but it wasn't! The server wasn't too friendly and the server wasn't attentive! Steak knife should be provided along with the entree but I had to remind the server! The server wasn't too focused so the orders needed to be repeated! I will prefer going back to botanist compared to notch 8 as the staffs were not too professional. On the bill, the server also forgot to take $2 off for happy hours drink. Make sure u check your bill!

The best part was that you could take your time. Food was just ok, given Vancouver standards, nothing to write home about. Portions were generous and plating was well done, I don’t think any of us finished our meals. It was comfy and quiet, nice not to be rushed out for once. Great ambience and spacious seating, you could have a quiet conversation and relax with a yummy cocktail. I didn’t order the pancakes but if you’re looking a big stack of fluffy pancakes, they looked good.

Being a local, I would try again to give them another chance, maybe I ordered the wrong thing, maybe the waitress was tired. Had to wait in line quite awhile to be seated because no one was at reception, restaurant wasn’t busy so that was weird. Ketchup bottle was served on my plate and left there, butter dish left sitting on top of my cold toast. Food and service just didn’t match up to the hotel restaurant prices.

The last time we were at Not h 8 the French Onion Soup was delicious. However they are now making it with croissant instead of baguette. The result is not right. More like sludge than French Onion Soup. It still tasted good but the consistency was all wrong. Please return to using baguette and we will too!
