We celebrated my wife's birthday and enjoyed a wonderful meal as well as ambience. Our server for the evening was exceptional and polite without hesitation to make our night special even with a surprise birthday dessert. We will return without a doubt

What happened to the food and the service here??! I remember coming here prior to COVID and the food and the service was amazing. The food was terrible yesterday and the menu was so basic. Definitely not the usual at Notch 8. Our food took so long to arrive. I understand covid has everyone in a jam but it wasn’t busy and it still took ridiculously long. If anything In this pandemic I believe restaurants should actually step up the quality of their food and service instead of cutting costs.

Thoroughly disappointing. We decided to got to Notch 8 on 08/07/20, I had been given a fairmont gift card from my work and we thought this would be a nice dinner experience in a fairmont restaurant. Started by wondering in to find the host for our reservation he quickly acknowledged and led us to a table of six(there was 2 of us) we thought nothing of it with covid 19 being spaced out on larger than normal tables is common. However when asked when others were joining us and we said it’s just us, it turned out we got sat at someone else’s reservation table and instantly were asked if we just walked in and grabbed any table or if we were sat by the host (felt offended that we were potentially being blamed straight off for the error). We would have happily moved to a table for two if asked, we weren’t but we did hear the server and host bickering behind us about the reservation which made us uncomfortable. Reservation was for 6:00 we got drinks at fairly quickly by 6:15 but it was a full half hour after this 6:45 before the server addressed us for another drink not even food. We just decided to order everything at this point drinks/starters and a main to save having to wait an age for service again.
Starter arrived no issues was a nice French onion soup, the house lager we were drinking was also really nice.
Main arrived while the starter plates were still on the table finished no more than 5mins.
I got the “The burger” and my partner got the “caprese ravioli”. The chips were fine but the dream sauce on the burger was just overpowering borderline sickly with the amount of it. The ravioli was below average for its price of $36 burrata cheese topping was like a cold glup which cooled everything else and made the meal unenjoyable. We had finished what we could by 7:40. I didn’t see the server until 8:05 to be able to pay the bill. Effectively only stayed for this meal past the first drink because I had a gift to use up before we fly home. Only place in 2 years $0 tip.

Happy hour should be happy, thank goodness for my company! Our server Sherrie was completely disconnected from us and did not check back in at all on our drinks or food...we had 1 drink for an extended happy hour and never offered if we wanted or needed more. We were there for 2 hours!like unsaid, thank goodness for the company I keep! They just reopened for business and maybe not prepared for how busy it was, but still dont make an excuse for raising the bar in the customer service experience, it was definitely disappointing. We shared our disbelief with Raymond the director of banquets and he was very empathetic, we appreciated the small discount he gave us and will come again to see if they can redeem the dismay!

We had a reservation and once we were seated at our table no server came to take our drink orders, bring cutlery, menus or anything. Ended up requesting water and a server to come to our table after 15 minutes of being ignored. The restaurant was Very empty as well. Food was good but I wouldn’t go back. Too expensive for no service.

It was Saturday night. We were the first couple tables arrived. I guess the menu changed a lot from 2 years ago? Or maybe due to covid 19? A fine dine restaurant turned into bar food like restaurant? We ordered plenty of food and quality was pretty average. My burger was on the dryer side. The best were wings, corn soup and onion soup. Service was pretty authentic....we got two serves to serve us which was pretty confusing for the whole time, sometimes they ask the same question twice. I did managed to give feedbacks to floor manager and he was pretty nice. At the end he took care of the dessert bill. (In house) I will probably return when to original menu comes back.

Lamb stake was small and dry, doesn’t worsts money at all. We’ve ordered 4 or 5 different starters and non out of 4 people from our company liked it.
Service is good but food is not at all. Don’t waste your money, please. We left hungry and unhappy

Great ambiance and friendly service. We had the hand crafted cocktails, my favorite being the lavender corpse reviver. The bar tender even gave us some samples of a vodka aperol spritzer when we asked what the guests around us were drinking.

This place is a bar. It is not a restaurant.
I reserved specifically for a dinner meeting - I put a note on the reservation, and I called ahead to ensure we had a quiet table for that purpose. And we were seated IN THE BAR one meter from the actual bar it self where the noise levels were spiking into the 80 decibel range.
When I said we needed to have a quiet table we were told all we could have is a booth... booths are also in the bar. It became very clear that this was not appropriate and were where then offered a table. The manager made a very clear point that he was 'doing us a special favour' as the "restaurant was closed". We were told twice this was a special favour. How can you take reservation for dinner in your restaurant on your website and then say that it is closed?!
For me this was a total failure. It is not a restaurant, it is a bar. Ironically I had the same sort of experience when at an extended stay at the Fairmont Royal York. I trusted this hotel and its restaurants as a suitable location to conduct business dinners. Sadly, both hotels have failed in this regard.

The setting was very attractive and also very comfortable. The waitress (Suzanne C.) catered to our every need. The bread appetizer, infused with mustard, was something to behold. The mushroom tartine, too. Not to mention the liquid chocolate dessert.

We had the most wonderful breakfast buffet. Everything was fresh, homemade and delicious!
I’ve never seen pine nuts offered to sprinkle on oatmeal! A classy place.

Got there on Valentine’s Day. Advertised Oyster bar, got there and only after I sat down I was notified that there is no oysters left. Dinner was ok, lobster soup was highlight, steak was cooked well but seasoning was too salty around the edges ( my wife’s steak as well). After I finished bottle of wine, I ordered anther 2 glasses of 6 oz wine which I had to wait for 45 mins and that’s after I went upfront and complained. I think the table was forgotten about. Oh well, I do understand that Valentine’s Day is usually busy but this was way below the standard I expected from fine dining. I will not be back

Booked a table for Valentines Day, we were unimpressed with the set menu and I’d called in advance for a vegetarian option, a separate menu was to be emailed to me but nothing came in advance. Once we got there the GM was very accommodating for dietary restrictions and managed to put together a good meal for my girlfriend but the steak I got was terrible. It was a chewy strip with way too much salt. Aside from the steak, the food was good, and the BC wines were reasonably priced.

it was quite loud. there were no restrictions on what you should wear- I saw some people wearing jeans.
the "all you can eat" oyster bar was a failure. they did not have enough oysters to last the night.
the serving was good. The service was fantastic!

The service was lovely! The host at the front was extremely friendly and personable. Our waitress was very professional and patient.

We got the gnocchi as a starter and it was a 7/10. Pretty good but not the best I’ve had.

I had the Wagyu steak medium and my dad had it medium rare. I’d recommend medium rare. Steak was 8/10. I’d say that the accompaniments like the fries and the salad made the steak way better. Alone, I’d say it was a 7/10.

My mom has the sablefish and she loved it!

The banana desert was a 7/10 :)

But I wouldn’t recommend to have the server that we did. She was not attentive and not only did we never see her during our meal, when we asked for coffee she forgot and just said she gave it to someone else. WTH? I practically had to tackle her for the bill. Not what you’d expect for a $70 pp brunch.

Excellent restaurant. We had a party of 12, celebrating a family, and the buffet offerings on Sunday at brunch were excellent. The service was also great. Our server Raluca was particularly thoughtful that it made celebrating a family occasion all the more special. (My aunt even wanted to include her in our of our photos. Thank you very much!)

Loved my experience at Notch8 - the decor was very trendy and they had an awesome live DJ, menu selection was great and wonderful service. The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is because although the food was delicious the main portions are very small. I ordered the ravioli and knew right away I would have to order something else after. But besides that I had a great dining experience! (Side note: If it’s your birthday they give you a delicious chocolate mousse!)
