The best part was that you could take your time. Food was just ok, given Vancouver standards, nothing to write home about. Portions were generous and plating was well done, I don’t think any of us finished our meals. It was comfy and quiet, nice not to be rushed out for once. Great ambience and spacious seating, you could have a quiet conversation and relax with a yummy cocktail. I didn’t order the pancakes but if you’re looking a big stack of fluffy pancakes, they looked good.

Being a local, I would try again to give them another chance, maybe I ordered the wrong thing, maybe the waitress was tired. Had to wait in line quite awhile to be seated because no one was at reception, restaurant wasn’t busy so that was weird. Ketchup bottle was served on my plate and left there, butter dish left sitting on top of my cold toast. Food and service just didn’t match up to the hotel restaurant prices.

The last time we were at Not h 8 the French Onion Soup was delicious. However they are now making it with croissant instead of baguette. The result is not right. More like sludge than French Onion Soup. It still tasted good but the consistency was all wrong. Please return to using baguette and we will too!

It was last dinner in our Vancouver trip, so we were looking forward to having dinner there.
They have many kinds of drinks and foods so we couldn't make up our mind. Of course taste was good!
We orderd four dishes(bread, appetizer, main and risotto) for three people but it was too much for us so when you go to this restaurant, you should order less dishes than you think.

Unfortunetly, we didn't satisfy their service.
Because it took a long time to order, prepare drinks and dishes. Although we were so hungry, we had to wait a long time. So I cannot give stars at this rate.
I think their service is very good normally but a person in charge of our table looks very busy at that time because she have to serve many tables so I can understand she couldn't care about our table.

Except service, we enjoyed really tasty food and great atmosphere.
If we have a chance to have dinner there, we want to go because we expect this restaurant.

Food:
Taste pretty good and very well professional chef. Specially highlighted Chef Will Lew, provided excellent chef attitude. My kid has allergy, he spent sometime to show me around explained in detail on each dishes. Not only that, he focused on prepare food for customers. That is why taste fabulous.

Highly recommend. Price descent and food quality good.

Food was good but not amazing. Our server had a dirty waistcoat and that set the scene for her service. Floor was dirty from previous sitting. Having said all that, it's a beautiful space and the quality of the food was good if not totally on point (not all hot dishes were hot, waffles were a bit chewy) I think I expected more for the price and have had great Christmas lunch buffet experiences there so went with bar set high, but we enjoyed our time there regardless.

Fairly disappointing. Started with black gold - the smoked salmon completely overpowered any other flavour. The elk was good, but quite salty... There was one tiny chanterelle in mine and my friend didn't get any. There were also carrots and some berry in the dish which weren't listed in the description on the menu.
The service was comically bad (except at the very end when the server brought out some chanterelles with the bill - tasty but strange to do so). The drinks (we each had a cocktail and a glass wine - drinks were good) took forever, our glasses sat empty on the table for ages even after our new drinks arrived, and i had to ask a bartender to find our server to settle up. Not sure if I'd return.

Absolutely incredible meal. I simply couldn’t comprehend the complexity of flavours in each bite I took. Everything worked beautifully together and was presented like a work of art. The bison and elk were the star of the night, proving that this restaurant is extremely worthy of your wallet and your time.

I brought a friend here for a very special occasion. It was a weekend, so until 3:00 it was the brunch buffet.
We loved the food! The egg bennie station was wonderful! The fellow there was truly an artist blending everything together. And it was hot, not tepid!
There was so much to eat, we could not sample everything, sadly. The fresh fruit was very tasty, especially the berries. I loved all the little tapas set out near the prime rib station. My friend does a lot of gigs as a DJ, so she's sampled a lot of buffets. She was very impressed by the range and selection. She loved the prime rib. And the lox(smoked salmon) was very tender.
Our server did take awhile to get our tea, but he may have been a busy, as it was Saturday. My friend and I saw some creme brulee but it wasn't out on the dessert station. Our server came back with two of them fresh off the line! And they were delicious.

If there is anything I could suggest, it's add the brunch buffet to the dropdown menu on the website, and give the time it runs until. There were some confused people at the restaurant entrance who thought lunch was being served, not aware the buffet ran well past noon.
Other than that, please keep up the good work.

We wanted a nice Christmas lunch but arrived to find out that only a huge elaborate buffet was being served, not their regular menu. Our only option was a very limited bar menu that was barely acceptable. They should have called us in advance to tell us this. We made reservations a couple of weeks ahead. Finding out on arriving left us with no other options.

Food was excellent. However out of the five main course dishes, 3 were room temperature and cooler. Had to send my main course back. They were good enough to take 15% off the bill.

We booked a reservation only to be told they were waiting to accommodate a large walk up group of 20. So our table for 2 was “being used.” After discussing with the host that there is a reason we book d a reservation, they showed us a small table right by a walk way. We took this only cause we didn’t have the time to wait for a table, which no real time frame was given. As we had a child with us, the high chair stuck out, where people would bump it walking by, even though we made them aware of the child when booking reservation.

The food was great! A lot of choices.

When the bill came, we decided to use a gift card, which at that point the waitresses mood changes immediately and became short with us. Last time I checked money is money 😉

Took more than 15 mins for them to run the gift card and we even had to ask for a print out of the bill after - which was a big deal according to our waitress.

As we started heading home - my wife realized on the bill that the hosts, who apparently had to run the gift card, completely wiped the gift card, even though the bill was no were close to what was on to gift care.

We had to drive back to the hotel/restaurant to then explain ourselves and get them to add the money back on. It took 5 people to add the money - FIVE!

So much for a quiet and enjoyable Sunday brunch.

As good as the food was - the service is horrendous, which will make us think again about going there.

We had brunch and it was outstanding. It was quite pricey ($60.00 each) but it included a cocktail (choice of Mimosa or Caesar), coffee or tea and juice. It's a nice place to have a special outing even if you only do so once a year. The décor and especially the service were beyond compare. We will definitely brunch there again.

The scallop appetizer was very fishy and overcooked so the scallops were rubbery. We got the bison and the wild boar for our entrees, which were recommended by our server. The flavours were not to our taste. The bison was crusted with an over-powering spice that took away from the flavour of the bison. I could have been eating lamb for all I knew. The wild board was okay, a bit too salty. The restaurant was also very cold. There was a draft from the main lobby of the hotel which made the restaurant uncomfortable to eat in. We have eaten at the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City (tasting menu) which was really good. For the price and reputation of the Fairmont, we expected much more and were very disappointed with the meal.

Went to Notch8 to celebrate passing my exams. There was a slight delay in getting us seated and then getting our first drinks. My husband had to keep pouring the champagne, only done once by the waitress. We were asked if there was a reason for our dinner. Each course was very creative, interestingly presented and delicious. A more original menu than most restaurants including elk and bison. When we were about to ask for a dessert menu, the waitress brought out a complimentary dessert with "Congratulations" written across the plate with chocolate sauce. Very special! Certainly, an experience to remember and so would recommend Notch8 to others and will visit again.

We had the best meal that we’ve ever had in our entire lives. Chef Will Lew is so creative in his flavors and combinations. The presentation was an nothing we’ve ever see before. The taste and freshness of the ingredients and the meat and seafood were delicious and cooked perfectly. Deserving of 3 Michelin stars!! We will definitely be coming back again and again. The restaurant was decorated for the holidays as well which made the ambience very festive.

Went for a very important Anniversary. 25th.. We were marred at the Hotel. The table and server were excellent. Truly fantastic. Food was ok. Definitely overpriced, but pretty good. The noise was bad but we had a very nice booth which mitigated most of the problems. I had told the person that taking my reservation that this was a an important night and I was not disappointed. I will definitely come again.

I ordered fish & chips, they were less then average.
For the price I would have expected a nicer batter and chips.
Also, the coleslaw was all over the plate and I don't eat mayonnaise...
I will try something different next time.

This restaurant failed to update their website with the important information that the weekend offering is a breakfast buffet style menu. No a la carte options are available on the weekend. As a result, OPEN Table also could not inform the patrons of what is actually on offer at this hotel in the very upscale Hotel Vancouver. Very disappointing for our planned Sunday afternoon lunch plans. We left and ate elsewhere. The server apologized for the surprise buffet menu and offered to inform the Hotel Manager forthwith.

The restaurant was festively decorated and was a-buzz with people. Even with the high ceiling, the noise was interfering in our being heard. I much preferred lunch or brunch to dinner. The meal prices were high for the latter.

This was our third time here, and I believe this will be our last one. Our first visit to Notch was great. The second, not so much, but we chalked it up to just the dish we decided to order. Our third and most recent trip was just flat out disappointing. Rather than taking it out on the waitress, who was for the most part attentive (even though she was spread a little thin) I opted to voice my displeasure here.

The flavours of the Scallop dish were disappointing, and the ratio of the tart was not what i would call appropriate. We left half the tart shell on the plate. We skipped ordering mains after this.

Rather than having such nicely descriptive dishes in your menu, I would consider going back to making sure the dishes them selves are presented well and have the flavours that are claimed by the waiting staff.

I met my daughter there for dinner. I looked at several best rated restaurants online and picked Notch8 because of central location, parking options as well as I am coming in from Bowen Island. But I'd say mostly because I thought your dinner menu looked good. So kudos to your chef...they brought me to you. I did look at the menu of the #1 rated by someone ( as well as many others) restaurant at The Georgia. But I just didn't see anything that really appealed to me. And I could not see a dessert menu online. When I go out to dinner I absolutely want a good dessert menu. It's a treat. And in my opinion the desserts should be rotated, deleted and added to on occasion. Especially if I decide to choose a particular restaurant to frequent.
I ate the Shoots, roots and leaves I think it was called with Bee Pollen. I loved it. It was healthy, light yet substantial and beautiful to look at. I loved having a vegetarian option right on the menu instead of having to ask for something to be adjusted.
Shoots, leaves, they score!
Take care, I am positive I will be back.
