Food was good and so was the service. It was expensive but would do it again for a special occasion
Closed out an amazing day with our Anniversary dinner at Notch8 in the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Incredible dinner (OMG Bison Carpaccio with hazelnuts & blue cheese crumble and Cheese Curd topped Mashed Potatoes!) with fun staff that made our evening super memorable. And we were double surprised with a decadent dessert platter comped by the hotel and the couple at the next table bought us a round of cocktails.
I immediately booked right after we celebrated my sister's birthday last time because of the great experience we had. But last Sunday's experience was a BIG disappointment, from the service to the quality of food. I originally requested for a seat by the fireplace since I wanted it to be special too because it's my birthday treat to my sister's boyfriend. But it was given to another customer who arrived just few minutes ahead of us despite my early reservation. The server was nice but needs to be more proactive and keen to details. Our plates and cutleries were already on top of each other before she could even remove them. We had to remind her about the coffee we requested 15 minutes ago before she could bring it to our table though she already brought fresh ones to other guests. There were two of them in the area at that time but both have poor service. The English muffins from the eggs benedict were to hard and the sponge on one of the desserts was too dry. I was expecting also that a birthday cake will be served to my sister's boyfriend like the last time when we celebrated her birthday too. It could have made the experience more personalized and memorable. Hopefully, we'll have a much better experience next time when we come back...If we ever we have the confidence to come back.
One of my favorites in Vancouver. Exceptional service, well plated and great flavored food.
This is an unusually busy evening. We blame our last min reservation and food does not met our usual expectations from previous visits. An unfortunately disappointment from our usual favourite joint.
Very good food and an excellent selection. I will definitely go back. The prime rib was superb.
Very nice meal , ate here originally as we are staying at the Fairmont but would eat here again
When I booked there was one question for what occasion. I clicked on bday because that was my bday. I thought and was hoping they would give me a little surprise like greetings or a small cake but nothing.
Excellent service, but the food was an absolute disappointment. Egg bene’s were dry under the heat lamps, and with an hour still to go, zero replenishing of sausages, and watery scrambled eggs. Only saving grace of the warm foods was the potatoes... guess you could not mess sautéing baby potatoes.
the waitress was not engaging or attentive and we had slow service
Poor food by the taste and look. Especially the lunch. We ordered a fish and a steak. They both looks like 5 dollar food. The environment is good but not the food. High tea is awesome.
Atmosphere was good, the food was amazing.
Service was slow, food display was all over the place -- seafood section did not feel fresh -- flies as well; egg station serve the smallest portion I've ever had before; each hot food in a cast iron pot, every difficult to self-serve for all ages and genders --- I was helping others to remove the lads many time.
Place was so noisy, the dessert section display was stacked and crowded -- I felt sad for the chef with good work but didn't have a fair chance to show-off.
We have been many brunch places, this for sure on the lowest ever!
Went to Notch8 last minute for a date night. We ordered the Wagyu beef and beet salad. Food was tasty with good size portions. Service was great!
This is the worst experience I've had in Vancouver. From the very start, the waitress was straight out of a Denny's and acted like she was working in a diner. Their wine list sucks, they only have 2 real meat choices, lamb and prime rib... are you kidding? Avoid this place at all costs, so many better restaurants in Van.
Lovely dinner, wonderful food, and excellent service. But please bring back the OMG chocolate cake and the birthday dessert!
The prime rib is delicious! It took time though to place our order. Regardless, I’d go again, the food is that good!!
Our Sever Alina was not very good and did not come by our table to check on us if we needed anything and we had to wave her down a few times to get her attention. She only seems to be checking other tables but not us very poor reflection to the Notch 8 brand!
The food was excellent and the ambience is so perfect especially if you want to celebrate any occasion. Our server was so nice and very attentive. We will definitely come back. In fact, I will be booking another reservation for a family member's birthday again in October.
Enjoyed the brunch buffet a lot the first time! Brought family the second time, and although it was very similar and not exactly the same... unfortunately, the pancakes, French toast and egg Benny's were all dry this time. Service and ambiance was great though.
Very noisy but asked to be moved to a booth and then OK.
Staff was extremely rude.
Martini and prosecco served in warm glasses. Should have been stored chilled or ice and water the glass before making. Especially when they were sooo slow for a Saturday.
Server didnt know what kind of oysters they served. She said they were notch 8 oysters? Picked specifically for them. (There still is a name for them....)
Appetizers, salad ok.
Dinner good. Ordered medium rare but for rare. 34 dollar wagyu was ordered and lamb. Wagyu was...... a 34 dollar wagyu if that's what is was. I would say was an Angus.
Server never performed wine service/topping of wine glasses.
Overall... for a fairmont restaurant... mediocre. Has better food value at cactus or the keg.
Really nice hotel but the restaurant price is ridiculous with not many options even u don’t serve any poultry and beef related for a brunch buffet. Then u mixed up all kinds of meat such as bacon pepperoni sausage with fish and ect.... u should have separate section for all kind of meat coz u have a muslim guest as well.
I ate lunch with a work colleague at notch8 on Friday. They were not busy but the hostess did not seat me for 10 minutes leaving my colleague waiting for me. It was very curious. Lunch arrived without delay. My burger fell apart on my first bite - the taste was good but there was no way that I could eat it with my hands - I had to eat it with fork and knife. I would not recommend Notch8 for lunch.
The food was amazing and so was the service!!!😊
Notch8 misadvertised their menu. Most of the “featured” items were not available at the brunch buffet. Was a great disappointment.
very nice place with good chefs!!! Also the food and the sitting ambiance is very nice!
Staff went above and beyond
Great food and the service was excellent
I was seated right beside the staff interviewing for a new position. No privacy, and the noise level was high
We’ve been coming to the Sunday brunch frequently and the overall experience continues to decline. For the $70pp - which is pretty expensive - the food selection and service is lacking. They don’t even have basic fruit like fresh berries. I am sorry to say that I don’t think I will go again.
Mistake done in credit card payment
It was great. Each of us enjoyed our meal and drinks. We would all definitely return again.
Just ok. Service was slow.
the roast chicken we ordered was over cooked and the meat was very soft and bland. the sauce was too thick and mushy.
We expected a surprise birthday dessert as advertised but got nothing. open table did not inform them despite the fact I put in the reason for our visit that we were celebrating a birthday on your open table app. Very disappointing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The food was excellent, the decor stylish, the servers lovely, and live music was provided, which otherwise would have all made for a five star experience. Unfortunately for us there was a large and exceptionally obnoxious group celebrating a birthday seared directly in the middle of the restaurant and between us and the live performer. Staff did nothing to quiet this group despite their obnoxious behaviour and numerous mentions that they were so loud we struggled to place an order. Members of the group loudly discussed their private parts, used obscenities, sat with feet on furniture, and walked openly about the restaurant space as if in a private dining area.
We could only assume it was due to the expectation of lucrative payment that nothing was done to moderate the behaviour of this group, but from a Fairmont hotel this was appalling. We would have expected them to at minimum have been politely asked to refrain from disturbing other guests or be either escorted to a private dining area or the exit. Be aware before reserving that your experience may not be the comfortable and intimate one the photos (and prices) suggest.
The setting in the hotel was lovely, the staff were attentive, and the food was delicious. A lovely setting to celebrate a special birthday.
It was not delicious... But the service is good.
Beautiful quiet little restaurant in Hotel Vancouver. The staff was attentive and the front desk rememberes that we visited last year and usually visit ~2 times a year. The food was excellent and service quick.
