Took my 2 boys, 4 & 2, solo to dinner. The staff was so awesome - quick, friendly, helpful and attentive. Our server even sat down and hung out at our table with the 2 year old while I took his brother to the bathroom. They were quick to bring the food but didn’t rush us at all. Best spot in town for my kids. And I had a good steak entree to boot. Huge win.
went for dinner on a rare night off......a margarita, 5 oysters and 5 shrimp were yummy!
Birthday celebration for my wife. My son bought a cake and the server graciously stored in frig. and also added some extra fruits. Very accommodating...
Waiter was great. Food was tasty
Overall great options and menu
It was a Valentine's Day/birthday celebration. It was a pleasant evening the wait staff was friendly and considering how busy they were did a good job getting thereThe food out.
NYAJ's is my favorite place to eat. Food is consistently great! Keep up the good work!
Had a nice pre-Valentine's day Dinner at Joe's. Full Valentine's menu was available and we beat the crowds. I had Crab-stuffed flounder which was very flavorful. My Valentine had the chicken which he said was good. Our server Kendra was awesome, as usual. Joe's is right in our neighborhood so we always feel comfortable there. We'll be back soon!
Enjoy Monday night oysters We always request Chuck great waitstaff
I was a bit annoyed the lunch menu was not available on Sundays. Don't recall online them stating that.
Server was very good and friendly.
I ordered the grilled salmon filet and took about half home. Upon eating it tonight the remainder of the fish had many bones in it. This was upsetting as it was supposed to be a filet.
Very accommodating to alterations in the menu items (no potatoes so could substitute carrots for example. Like the GF options too!
We were able to linger for a few hours without feeling rushed!
We sat at the pizza bar. It is very entertaining to watch the food prepared. The food and the service were great
After being seated in a booth as we requested, we had an enjoyable dinner with an excellent waitress!
We are regulars here for a reason (the bread and oil obviously) - but really the food is good and has a lot of gluten free options for me which makes it a happy compromise for me and my husband. We will continue to return again and again -
Billy was our server - super nice, attentive but didn't swarm us every 5 minutes and very personable. He made our dinner even more enjoyable.
We had lunch with my cousins and brought our one year old. Our waitress was super nice and attentive. The food was delicious. Overall a great casual lunch out.
The server (Victoria) was much better than the meal! Usually i love the food here but the fish was quite oily and spinach more heavily seasoned than i expected. And...this is the second time i've been here that the delicious bread was a little on the stale side!! Next time i will send it back, as the usual fresh bread is close to heaven. They failed to note my Open Table reservation when i arrived (and mentioned it). I was informed by Open Table that i hadn't honored my reservation. It's all cleared up now, but annoying.
It is what it is - generally a safe bet for bar/kid/carbo-rich foods that are pretty good. Nice service. Not expensive. Open for lunch. We chose by location.
Since the first time at the Watertown location and I really loved it! I am a huge fan of the complementary bread and cheese/olive oil dip. The seafood fettuccine meal hat has a lot of shrimp , scallops and mushrooms in a delicious cream sauce. Everything was awesome!
We do not live in MA but every time we come into the Boston area, we make Average Joes a priority. Their bread is the best around. I had their Caribbean spicy chicken tenders with blue cheese and they were amazing. My husband got the smoked salmon benedict and that was good as well.
It was a loud night due to the football game being on and lots of families with young children nearby. We still had a great time; just difficult to hear each other at times! Great food and our waiter was helpful and attentive.
Like to go again for my birthday 🎂 and my anniversary also.
Went with a group of 7 coworkers for lunch before the holidays. Not Your Average Joe's in Watertown accommodates large groups with varying diets/food preferences. There was enough room at the table and plenty of food options for people to choose from. The service was friendly and timely. The wait staff was understanding when we were waiting for a member of our group to arrive after he got held up at the office.
This restaurant is fairly vegetarian friendly- there are plenty of options beyond a salad and many options that you can order a veggie version of.
Our waitperson was outstanding - attentive, but not overly so, and took very good care of us!
Excellent post theater meal. A real positive is the discount given to theater goers.
Food was delicious The server was great and made helpful suggestions.
We will definitely return again soon.
A birthday celebration! Great waitress!!
Quality food, nice selection good value for your $!
Always love coming to NYAJ's! Upbeat atmosphere, great service, even when they're crowded. Love the onion bread , olive oil and cheese that arrives with every meal. Among our favorites -chicken parmesan (enough to share), baked salmon or cod.Desserts are elicious! There's something for everyone here!
Food preparation did not live up the interesting-sounding menu items.
This is a great neighborhood restaurant. Perfect for families or for dinner with friends. Comfortable. Waitstaff and host staff are excellent and accommodating. Nice cocktails and seasonal menu items.
I would give all good scores except for restaurant was as usual too cold. I had to ask to move to a table near the pizza ovens where it was warmer. Very noisy, as usual and I like lively but don't have to want to shout. On past occasions music was too loud. Once I asked waitress to ask to have it turned down and they did, but only a little. Waiter very good and attentive. I go there occasionally so I still like it in spite of these drawbacks. Recommend: keep music level lower and temp. should be warmer. Otherwise like it.
Not Your Average Joe's is always a great dining experience.Hostess brought us to our reserved table right on time.Fresh Italian bread and garlic parmesan oil arrived at our table right away! The broiled haddock with chipotle pumpkin sqash and green beans were excellent! Hope to return soon!
awesome for an evening out. will will go back often
Great place! Consistent with quality!
Very mixed on NYAJ. My jambalaya was kind of OK. The taste wasn't bad but it looked unappetizing. It was all beige with just a few sprinkles of parsley. To me, jambalaya should be vibrant looking--bright red chorizo, green vegetables, etc... It looked more like a cafeteria dish. That said, the taste was decent. The burgers weren't great either. The bun was way too big for the size of the burger.
Overall it wasn't a bad experience. Our server was super charming and warm. But I'm not sure I'd come back anytime soon. There are too many better places in close vicinity that offer a better meal at the same price.
very bad service. the waiter got something wrong at every chance he had. one of our meals came totally wrong. food was just ok.
The tomato basil soup was delicious and hit the spot on a rainy night. MY chicken picatta was beautifully presented. My husband's sirloin tips were disappointing; the portion was very small. We split the key lime pie, which was fresh and spectacular. The service was friendly and unobtrusive.
Perfect dinner as always! Will be coming back for ore good times!
I am a regular and I was very disappointed over the quality of my food and how the management handle the situation.
Great ambiance, excellent service (Bill was our server) food was delicious and creative! Drinks were refreshing and delicious! Seven people and bill was $257. drinks, apps, and entrees (no dessert, too full!)
