Great place for families with food choices to satisfy every type of picky eater.
Everything was yummy :) No wait with our reservation , definitely coming back
Fantastic service and accommodating staff. Thanks!
We hadn't been to the Watertown location in several years. Unfortunately, Waltham was completely booked for Mother's Day. It was a reminder of the inconsistency between locations. Portions were inconsistent across members of our party ordering the same entree and they were overcooked. Due to the seating arrangement it was very crowded with little space for servers and patrons to negotiate.
However, our server was amazing and extremely attentive. He went above and beyond and knew exactly what we needed before we asked.
The food was delicious and our server, Lauren, was very attentive.
A hidden pearl in Watertown. Great food and service, would recommend. Good job.
The food is good, but the menu changes can be a bummer and unpredictable. I don't think I'll be back until the menu changes again.
Always love the food and ambiance. Our waiter was overwhelmed with the amount of tables he had and we did not feel was able to give us top notch service.
Love Not Your Average Joe's! The hostess readily accommodated our seatng request, The jambalaya was delicious - full of chicken, shrimp, sausage, rice, and vegetables. It's a great dish to share and goes well with the amazing seasoned bread brought to the table. Don't forget to leave some room for dessert - the key lime pie in a raspberry sauce, topped with whipped cream, is exquisite. One of our favorite restaurants that never disappoints!
We enjoyed our food, beverages and service. We'd go back.
Amazing food - everyone loved the specials that are soon coming on the menu. Service by Chuck was professional and friendly. Bartender Tricia stopped by to say Hello. Just about as good as it gets!
The pizza was delicious as well as that bread and oil! Had a reservation and was taken to our booth immediately upon our arrival.
This is my favorite place.....open and cozy, different kinds of seating choices, great gluten free menu items!!
Came with a group to support the Boston Gay Men's Chorus (NYAJ will give 15% of your total check to the chorus if you mention the BGMC during the month of April). Service by Natalia was excellent (sorry we stayed so long!) and everyone was impressed with their meals. Will be back with another group next Tuesday. Looking forward to it!
Came for Easter dinner with my family. Could not have asked for better service, food, or an experience. Top notch!
The pizza maker had my son come up to the pizza bar to watch his pizza being made. So nice!
Service was very bad. Waited an interminable amount of time for everything including the opportunity to pay which took the server about 4 trips back and forth to the table before he got it right.
Truthfully, I was surprised at the quality of the food. My friend and I both had a super crunch salads with salmon added, and both the fish and the salad were delicious. Our waitress was great and even though we sat for a while after finishing our meal, we never felt rushed or pressured to leave. We'll definitely be back.
Excellent Food and even better service by Dane. Great night out supporting the Boston Gay Men's Chorus - come in anytime during the month of April and mention your are there to support the BGMC and 15% of your check total will be donated to the Chorus. Thanks to GM Sara and AGM Casey for doing this!
Great food, casual ambiance! The server was sometimes a little awkward, but he was a great guy, and we had a terrific meal.
very average food but good quality for the price. the major attraction is $1 oysters on Monday.
Look forward To meeting friends for Monday night apps, oysters, shrimp and our table with Chuck. Chuck is friendly and attentive and we look forward to a buck a shuck with Chuck
Food, drinks, service were fine. I had the Chicken Capresse, which tasted great but there was not enough food. 2 average size pieces of chicken and a salad with it. If a full vegetable portion or potato portion came with it, it would have been enough food. Overall, everyone enjoyed their food and our waiter was extremely accommodating.
Delicious as always. Seared tuna wontons are my fav but always inconsistent. Sometimes a little sauce. Sometimes a lot. Sometimes they offer to put on cucumbers. Sometimes not. And the kitchen needs better standards. No gloves worn by chefs who are CONSTANTLY eating with their hands and touching their face. So gross.
We had a wonderful time at our special meal.
We like to go to NYA Joe's on Friday nights when we can. I always have my favorite Pomegranate Martini. We both had the Haddock with different sides. Really delicious! We're regulars.
Very efficient service
I cannot recommend this place enough! The service was outstanding the waitress she was so helpful suggesting things but not overdoing it. Food was delicious perfectly cooked and came out in a timely manner.
We had a wonderful experience especially due to friendliness of our waitress, Kendra. Will be back soon!
We had a multigenerational combination birthday brunch which pleased both the 5 year old and the 91 year old and everyone in between! Terrific service and the food was good. Very knowledgeable and accommodating re severe allergies.
Always consistent food and drinks. Service was stellar when we dined on st Patrick’s day wish I could recall her name to compliment her. Mustard crusted chicken is amazing. Always a good time. Well managed.
It was my friends birthday which I did note in open table by it was not acknowledged by the waitress. Not sure if it was because they didn’t properly check us in under open table.
The food was excellent, as usual. But we felt crammed in and two tables away from us was a family where its child felt compelled to scream during the whole dinner! Talked with the manager to no avail, will not be coming back to this "Joe's" for that reason.
Wasn’t the best dining experience. This is a regular spot for us. Ordered the Shrimp Scampi special & the Super Crunch Salad. Made note to waiter about the over cooked, soggy pasta and he made no effort to remedy the poor quality food. The chicken in the salad was hard, dry and tasteless. Not one of NYAJ’s better moments. If the food quality and attention to diner experience continues to spiral, won’t be coming back.
Very good food, nicely served in a family atmosphere. Good quality for the money. Wasn't expecting them to be so outstanding. Have eaten there twice and was impressed each time.
Not different from my last week review except our waitress was fantastic. Prompt sevice with great humor.
Very average Joe’s. Crab cakes had negligible crab meat and were also slightly burnt. Caesar salad had obvious garlic powder sprinkled on. Other dishes - eh.
Uninspired and poorly prepared food - just like your average mediocre chain restaurant.
Good all-around venue and food. Food includes tasty, classic all-around choices - chicken, fish, beef, pizza, etc. - prepared a little fancier than, say, what you would get at a diner. Their focaccia-like bread with spiced, flavored oil (cheese, garlic) is delicious. Serves all the usual beer, wine and cocktails. Ambiance is somewhat that trendy, industrial look with exposed brick and ceiling ducts, etc. Noise level can be a little loud at times, but not overly. It depends on the crowd, and how many kids are around (because it is family friendly). Service is good - attentive and fast. NYAJ's is not a fancy place. It's more like an everyday, better than a diner, family-friendly experience. You could certainly have a pleasant, respectable business lunch or dinner here at a very reasonable price - I see many do. (But it's not like a Capital Grille or the like). NYOJ's is essentially my "go to" place for a) when my wife and I just want to go out for pleasant, affordable Saturday night dinner, and b) when I have out of town guests and I don't know their preferences - Joe's has a little of everything.
We love this restaurant both the Watertown and Arlington location this night we had out of town guess and they loved it just has much as we do from the bread to the cocktails to the main course everything was wonderful
Go here about 12 times a year. Never a bad meal, never a great meal. Menu is good.
Prices have gotten more expensive over the past year, We average $50/per person with
an inexpensive bottle of wine
