Not Your Average Joe's Warwick Ratings and Reviews
We made reservations on Open Table a week ahead of time and added two more to our party just four days before the day of our reservation. Called the restaurant to change the reservation and were pleasantly surprised to a warm reception to change a reservation from 4 to 6 people. Asked about a cake or cupcakes for a birthday celebration but was told that the desserts on the menu were our only option - no problem, we were ok with this. The table was actually the one in the advertisement - a comfy table with plenty of room and cozy chairs. The only problem with this table is it is at the front of the restaurant near the small waiting area. I felt uncomfortable as I ate the delicious bread w/seasoned oil and sipped a tasty pomegranate martini but found it hard to look into the little boy's eyes (he was young, about 3) as he was patiently waiting with his parents. The way the table is situated I watched at least three people run into the bench opposite our table because it is so low and can't be seen until it's too late. This area should really be changed for a better flow.
Crab cakes were amazing - the perfect blend of crab meat and just enough filling to keep them together. Kids menu is great, they were happy, and my in-laws enjoyed their meals - haddock and steak tips respectfully! My meal and my husbands were excellent as well, we had the Heritage pork chop and seafood fettuccini also very good!! There were great portions and we all shared with each other.
Service was very good, the waitress we had tried a little too hard to be nice and came across as fake, but we were satisfied with the attentiveness to our needs.
Thanks for a great meal!
This restaurant had a fun atmosphere and a TON of food selections. They even had a separate menu full of gluten free options, which is extremely convenient if you are gluten free. We ordered pizza and seafood penne. The pizza was undercooked and doughy and my pasta was soupy and overcooked (flavors were on point for both though). We would return to try it out again bc of the atmosphere and our server. Our server was amazing and attentive & the bread and oil you get at the beginning is to die for!!
Met with friends from California. Food was good as usual but our waitress could have been more personable. She seemed distracted and not as cordial as we are used to. Asked what we wanted and later if the food was good but rarely spoke to us other than that
The service was terrible. This is not the first time there has been a problem. The dishes take way too long to get to the table so it is either the kitchen who is slow or the waitress. She did not offer any thing for serving two dishes incorrectly and I there fore told her to tell the manager we were not happy with the food or service. The manager took the two dishes that were incorrect off the bill. The manager never came to the table to see what happened which I feel she should have done. Will think twice before I return to this restaurant!
Service was slow and waitstaff was inattentive/disappeared for long periods of time. Took a long time to get our first drinks and then another long wait to have our order taken. Cheeseburgers came out with no cheese; when cheese was added it was slapped on top without melting. Had to wait a long time for the waitress to come back and check on us; meanwhile what was supposed to be my medium-well burger was very rare. Waitress was nice and took the burger back, it came as the same burger that had already been cut (not a huge deal) but was still very pink. Ate it anyways because my friend was already done with her dinner. After all that there were no adjustments to the bill which was a little disappointing.
Had a nice dinner with family on a Saturday afternoon. Cocktails were very good as was the entree. A wide selection ranging from seafood, BBQ, steak, burgers, vegan options ... you name it. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal.
Waitress was friendly and attentive (without being pushy). We will go back again.
We have dined at NYAJ for years but not in the recent past. I always want to like this place. We were lured back by the BarBQ menu but we were sorely disappointed . the spare ribs were SO dry we will either try to use them in a soup o throw them away. I am so saddened that nothing our party ate was remarkable except for the focaccia dipping sauce. As I mentioned, I really want to like this spot because the staff is so nice.
Waiter was excellent, food was not. Fries were soggy, coleslaw was tasteless. One diner said his haddock sandwich was the worst he's ever had. Another diner did say that the food was better the last time she was there so maybe this was an anomaly. Bacon was not good! Bacon!
