Not Your Average Joe's Seekonk Ratings and Reviews
The food was ok, but the service was very slow. The person took too much to bring the food to the table. My told the hostess to sing happy birthday and they never did. We told the waitress to split the bill and brought two bills with same amounts on each bill. We had to talked to the manager.
Usually I am always pleased with NYAJs, but both my husband and I were unsatisfied with our entrees, they were lacking seasoning and were not as good as they have been in the past. We will still return, but maybe just stick to appetizers going forward as those are always the better choice.
The conversion from Bugaboo Creek to NYAJ is remarkable. Our party of four included 2 diners who had dined at NYAJ before. The unanimous consensus was we would all come back to this location. The lobster roll special was delicious as were all the other entrees.
We Love NYAG's. It is a place we come back to time after time. And of course that means that we bring our friends too. The menu changes seasonaly and they use the freshest items from local farms and fisheries. And the bread...what can I say about the bread except that it is to die for!
I first visited Not Your Average Joe's for the first time on Cape Cod with a friend, and since then, I have returned several times to the Seekonk restaurant (which is closer to home for me). My boyfriend and I have even tried to copy recipes for the bread dip and watermelon sangria for a fun night in. Of course our homemade concoctions don't compare to the food and service at Not Your Average Joe's. I passed by this restaurant so many times since it opened, and never really knew anything about it, but now I'm really glad my friend brought me there for lunch. The last time I ate there I had the haddock which was absolutely delicious! Definitely plan on returning.
Enjoyed our lunch and the service was excellent. However, the actual food never seems to live up to the interesting menu. For example, the chicken quaesedillas were basically fine, but they added pineapple and Russian dressing. Why?
On the other hand, their olive oil with cheese and hot flakes is wonderful. I'd go back, but I think the food is just okay -- definitely not gourmet.
This is a restaurant under the guise of "casual American fare". Don't let that description fool you. Instead of boring, typical, American food, they have a plethora of well crafted and delicious dishes to suit those who truly appreciate good food. Try as many as you can, as they change their menu from time to time, leaving no time for boredom in the taste department. It's truly difficult to find well crafted food for a good price. You get more than your money's worth here. And to top it off, the service is spectacular, more befitting of an expensive restaurant, but with the warmth and charm of a neighborhood gem.
Easy reservations online lead to timely seating when we arrived, even though the line was out the door. The wait staff (Brandon) was fantastic, especially with our boys. Speedy service, checked on us regularly, cleared items quickly (even while taking the order at the next table). NYA Joes' food, as always, fresh, tasty, complimentary. Priced right too - you wont break the bank. Only wish - serve espresso drinks for a perfect way to end a nice dinner. Waited a long time for them to come down to this area (Seekonk) - thrilled they're here now! Can't wait to go back!
The food was good, and well prepared. But I don't think it was a good value for what we paid. The waited was bad, he forgot several items we ordered, and they needed to be re-entered, or we just old him to forget the apps he did not put in the system. But we did want the soups and drinks he did not put in the system. After giving us the check he ignored us, doing his nightly side work. I guess he thought he had a bis tip sewn up.
service was horrible, server never made eye contact whole meal, had to get my own silverware and napkin from another table. she was too busy talking to males who she works with. it was also my birthday and i stated that it was, she never even threw me a "happy birthday" i love NYAJ's but you need better servers
need more variety in vegetarian options on this summer menu(most had goat cheese, polarizing), and server was fake/forced, we felt like a burden for him. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation and even then they tried to put us inside when we had requested outside. Food is good but portions are ever smaller.
Would love to see something healthy and vegetable based rather than pasta/pizza/veggie burgers. Their bread is amazing-don't need more white carbs after that!
Scallop dish was terrific, tasty, original, creatively presented. Wait staff very attentive and responsive. We ate outside because the noise level inside is so high. One of our party of three is somewhat hearing impaired and it becomes impossible to hear one another inside. I would prefer that music not be broadcast outdoors.
This is a great restaurant and it is a pleasure to see it thrive. Excellent value for the money.
My college friends and I dined here on a Sunday night. It was my first visit at this location, and we have a extrememly pleasurable experience. The food was fantastic and was only exceeded by the service. We stayed long after our bill was delivered and not for a moment did we feel rushed to pay and leave-even though it was closing time!
Enjoyable dinner experience with my family. We were there to celebrate my son's birthday. Everyone enjoyed their meals for the most part. It is so refreshing to dine somewhere with an ever changing menu. The Sangria is the best I have ever had! Other than the fact that the staff brought the "surprise" piece of cake out too early, when she did return with the cake and the others to sing "Happy Birthday" it was lackluster to say the least. I would probably not return for a birthday celebration due to this. But will return for a nice meal with my family.
Nice restaurant, nice wait staff, great bread/olive oil mixture, delicious rasberry mojito, only a 5 minute wait because we had a reservation (I wish they didn't change the salad that goes with the crab cakes, the old salad and dressing was much better than the new one) Overall: great experience
