Not Your Average Joe's Norwell Ratings and Reviews
We have frequented this restaurant many times and it never disappoints! Great drinks, especially Sangria and creative dishes that you don't find elsewhere, which all have been delicious. Always make a reservation if you don't want to wait! It is always busy, with good reason!
Made reservations for 7:00pm. Arrived just before 7:00. Were advised they were just clearing the table and would be a couple of minutes. Checked back in 10 minutes and were told it would be another 10-15 minutes. Finally they told us it would be just a second and 5 minutes later we were seated. We ordered and never saw my chowder until the waiter came back to check on us. Overall not a good experience.
I enjoyed NYAJ, but it would not be my go to. The food was okay (I got grilled chicken and it was very thick, lacked flavor, and was a little chewy. The food took forever to get to us, but the waiter apologized and gave us free desert, however it was only one desert for our party of 6.
I am a frequent diner at this NYAJ location. It is my "go to" restaurant. On this particular occasion I took advantage of the Oktoberfest specials. I selected pork schnitzel and krugel with steamed purple cabbage. Schnitzel and cabbage were excellent. Unfortunately I found the krugel to be bland and dry, thus the 4 stars for food. My dining companion chose an appetizer of sausage, potato and a veggie from the Oktoberfest menu which he deemed very good. He also selected an entree of Portuguese stew from the regular menu which was also very good. Two of us ordered a cup of coffee after dinner. The coffee was not good, served with milk. Would have preferred coffee with cream or 1/2 and 1/2. Our server was outstanding. I believe her name was Tekki. Will continue to go back to this restaurant.
My husband and I love the uniqueness of the American fare at NYAJ's. We take into account everything about our dining experience, and I have to say that our waitress made our night. We had made reservations, which I highly recommend and were seated in a corner booth (more intimate for my birthday night out).
Our waitress was quite engaging: from talking about our drink choices from the bar - to an extended chat about it being my birthday. She was busy... but she didn't rush through any part of our meal. And then... dessert came with a candle in it! The waitstaff sang Happy Birthday, and the dessert ended up being 'on the house'.
Of course our dinners - pizza, and I ordered the grilled balsamic salmon entree - were VERY good, and the whole experience left us ready to take on the night!
NYAJoe's is our favorite destination for a last-minute dining out; it's generally easy to get a table without waiting (especially via OpenTable), and we can always count on interesting menu choices and excellent execution. This evening was no different; my wife opted for the special lobster roll, which she deemed excellent, and I went with an "old" favorite, the steak wedge salad, which also met or exceeded my expectations. Our server, Lynne, suggested changes to our order that improved on the value and experience, and, as usual, the delivery of the meals was expedited by whatever server was available. NYAJoe's is a well-oiled machine, and a pleasure to visit every time, in our experience.
The bar was inviting and cheerful, the outside dinning an attractive option too, we choose door number 3, the main restaurant for alittle more privacy. The pork tenderloin was splendid and the marinade perfect for summer.
We tried something new, the watermelon sangria and enjoy it too.
Our server Nicole made the night a nice escape. Tks
I frequent this NYAJ location approx 1 x month. It has always been my "go to" restaurant. I almost always rate 4 - 5 stars. On this particular evening the food was definitely off. Frequently order the edamame dumplings. On this visit the dumplings were under cooked, the dough was hard and chewy. I ordered the harissa chicken breast. The chicken breast was dry, harissa flavor lacking. My dining partner ordered the steak wedge salad. Meat doneness was inconsistent. Ordered medium, some pieces were medium well, other pieces barely medium. Service was slow but could not fault our server. Seemed as though food was unusually slow coming out of the kitchen. Our server was pretty attentive and aware of situation, I want to believe that this was an unusual night and probably will continue to dine at this location.
My fiancé and I had a very nice lunch out with our parents. The noise level was moderate but our server was attentive and the food was tasty. Very happy with our selection for entrees however would probably pass next time on the key lime pie, not the best i've ever had. Overall fantastic experience and I will be back again. I have been several times and have never eaten a meal i've never liked!
I have visited this NYAJ location several times. It is reliable and consistent for a good meal at a decent price. I love the creativity of the chef when it comes to monthly specials. I also like the fact that when available, the chef will use local ingredients. Went for Mom's Day. Very busy yet our server Rachel managed to deliver great service. It has become my "go to" restaurant.
The only flaw I could see was inconsistency with a strawberry basil margharita. This was a cocktail on the specials menu. The first margharita was excellent. A second one was ordered. The second had a very tiny piece of strawberry, a very tiny piece of basil and it looked like a glass of water. Would have sent it back but we were close to the end of our meal. Not a big deal as the whole experience was very enjoyable
I would return to Not Your Average Joe's. Our server was very attentive & professional. April is Wine Month, with a special wine list, bottles are $20.00, very good deal. The Food lost points because three fish entrees were over cooked. Other than that I would recommend highly.
Sercvice was great although a little cloying, like he,wanted us to hurry up. It was ok though s we were headed to a show and in a hurry. Food was good but I got the sweet blue burger which was crazy messy, sauce was everywhere and I had to eventually eat with a knife and fork. My and my husbands burgers were very juicy but his held together.
I ordered margarita pizza. Tasted more like a thin slice of garlic bread than pizza. Non-existent tomatoes and very little cheese . I make a better one at home. My husband had flounder which was bland and the portion was small. Good thing he ordered a spinach salad. Only thing we both enjoyed was the Sangria. Definitely won't make a return visit. The waitress was great and very attentive as well as new, unfortunately the food didn't match the service.
I had no trouble with my reservation. I arrived 10 minutes before my reservation and the rest of my party, but was shown right to my table. The server arrived promptly with bread and an olive oil, garlic, parm cheese mixture that was served with a very good bread. She took my drink order which arrived quickly. As my party arrived, the server was fairly quick to come back for drink orders. We did wait a bit longer than I would have liked to place our dinner order, but it arrived in an acceptable amount of time. I ordered a side salad to be delivered with dinner, but it took about 20 minutes more. The manager delivered it with apologies and said there would be no charge for it...We did have trouble finding our server, or anyone else, who could refill our drinks. The reason I went to this restaurant is because they offer a 15% discount if you have theater tickets for a place down the street. I think it's worth going to...I've heard great things, the food is good, and you get 15% off your bill if you're going to a show at the Company Theatre which is a great perk...we had tickets!
Service is first at NYAJ's. The staff caters to your every whim and management always stops by the table to check on things. A victim of their own success means it is usually a busy, vibrant atmosphere which can get a little noisy. For the money, the food is an excellent value and the scratch kitchen means having everything just the way you like it. If it's casual dining you desire, NYAJ's is tops.
It was my birthday and they made it very special. There are only a couple vegetarian items on the menu but they are all good so it's hard for me to choose. They do have a good sized menu and great drinks. The bar is a great place to go just to pop in for an appetizer and a drink.
Our waitress took our order and then disappeared. She came back 30 minutes later stating that our order was delayed the lounge was very busy. Shortly thereafter the manager came by and apologized that our order ticket got lost in the kitchen. We told him that the waitress lied to us stating the lounge was busy. The food finally arrived and it was delicious. The manager came by later stating that he was picking up the entire cost of our meal. He did the right thing. We will definitely go back. We just hope we get a different waitress.
