usually enjoy all of our visits to NYAJ's, this night was not one of them. The pizza was charcoaled and the buffalo chicken was simply thrown on top as if it was an afterthought. Andrew the server was very good and understanding; he said he would send the manager over but apparently it wasn't important enough and he/she never bothered to stop by. Hope to see Andrew elsewhere.

NYAJ isn't particularly convenient for us, but we have added it to our small list of favorite spots. It's sort of bustling and noisy, but the space is attractive sort of industrial comfy, and the food is seriously good.

The other evening, the three of us ordered the haddock, chicken enchiladas, and mustard encrusted chicken. All of us were very happy. From now on, when we go for dinner, I will have trouble not ordering the mustard chicken. I loved it. We skipped dessert because we'd pigged out on the fabulous focaccia that comes shortly after you sit down.

nyaj is a staple for us because it has good quality food at a reasonable price. the service is attentive and friendly. reservations are a must particularly because we like to sit in a particular area of the restaurant and 99% of the time the table is ready for us when we get there. a strong recommendation from us.

Love the menu at NYAJ. Especially appreciate attention to dietary concerns. Always a great meal here.

Disappointed. Had not been in for a couple of months. The bread served with the dip was stale. My chicken piccata was OK. My wifes chicken cutlets were dry and hard.

Arrived 5 PM Hot Humid Sunday. Place more crowded than I expected. I had used the on-line reservation feature, which is a good thing. Our table was not ready, but the staff knew we were coming and got things together quickly. Service was excellent (Michael). Wife's meal excellent (Herb-crusted chicken). My meal also very nice (enchilada), but possibly not appropriate for an American restaurant. My call, my fault.

For me, the major issue was the level of ambient noise. The walls and ceilings reflect every sound in the house. In addition, we were seated in a booth near the house telephone. The telephone ring was loud and raucous and jarring. I learned to hate it very quickly. My wife acknowledged the disruption caused by the noise level and the telephone, but it did not bother her as much.

For a group party, perhaps with a lot of children, NYAJ's should do quite well. For a date, or (as was the case for us), a quiet birthday celebration, frankly, this does not work. And they really need to get rid of that telephone.

The ahi tuna salad is still tasty but over the years has changed from a plate of tuna with a little bit of salad to a plate of salad with a little bit of tuna. Please bring back old version!!!

I participated in the "Gluten-Free" dinner in Watertown at NYAJ, in March 2015.
I enjoyed the interactive wait staff explaining the course and wine pairings.
The "Vergetarian" dinner in Needham, could have been better.
Wait staff barely explained the courses and the seating was not conducive to a "Tasting" experience.
Maybe a section away from the normal dinner crowd would have been better.
Never heard from the manager or staff about what we enjoyed off the menu.
Would go again, but hoping more interaction with staff to make is more memorable.

I came in to Not Your Average Joe's three days ago with two of my best friends, and we had such a great time!

When we walked in there were a few girls at the host desk who were really friendly to us, and sat us right away (I've come in before on a Saturday night without having made a reservation, and while it's always worth the wait, being seated right away makes you feel like a VIP).

When we got to our table, a girl named Callie (Cally?) came over with "that bread" and told us she would be our server (more like bread enabler). She was so friendly, and better yet knew -everything- about the menu. I was initially going to have the Mustard Crusted Chickens, but after mentioning an old menu item, Callie told me that its back on the menu!! I hadn't had scallops in literally forever, and they're definitely a nice summertime dish to have.

We probably ended out staying a biiiiiiit longer than expected, but the Basil and Strawberry Margarita was a necessity, and we ended out having one of the best "girls night out" in sooo long! We will definitely come back next time we can all get out. LOVE Not Your Average Joe's!

The hosts greet you warmly and are extremely nice and go out of their way to try to accommodate all together guests. The wait staff is also very friendly and efficient. The food is good for a neighborhood restaurant. The menu is very varied so that everyone can find something whether they want a full or lighter meal.
