NYAJ's is a staple in my my dining out repertoire. This is the first time to the Medford location. It was a bit noisier than I expected, but service and food was great, as always.
Unfortunately, the website informed us that this restaurant was less than one mile from our destination of Kurios at Suffolk Downs when in reality it was almost 7 miles away! We got to the venue just in time!
Since it was Monday, you were running the 'light bite' menu; I had the salmon which was absolutely delicious! Also, the wine pairing was perfect with the salmon. We sat outside on the patio and it was a lovely. The only thing i would suggest for the outside patio is a bit more organization out there; i.e. umbrellas, etc. and maybe some bug pre-spraying...there was a lot of bugs out there that evening. Otherwise, we had a wonderful experience!!! Keep up the great work.
We love n a j....good value, good food, great bread! We always have a good time at n a j! If there is ever a problem they handle it very well!
As far as chain restaurants go, you could do much worse. They have a great variety of cocktails and a commendable wine list, plus they make a strong effort toward seasonal foods. There's really something for everyone here, from the pickiest eater to those who enjoy more challenging foods. The two hours of free parking don't hurt their case, either, and the service was great.
While staying at a nearby hotel this restaurant became our dining room. The service was speedy and considerate. Big variety of entrees, with large servings. Staff willing to split dishes for smaller appetites. We were a group of 8 for one dinner and the staff managed us well.
My two pet peeves happened though - this was business lunch and we had not met before. We had reservations and both were seated separately even though we had given the hostess each other's names. It wasn't crowded and it took us ten minutes to realize this had happened.
My other pet peeve is when one person is finished and the other isn't, the finished plate should not be removed until the last person is done. It wasn't like we were lingering and they were trying to turn the tables.
Having said that, I really like this place for its great menu choices for lunch, it's good for business conversations, it's convenient and the food is consistently good and the service is generally really great.
What to do an a dreary Sunday? Head to NYAJs in Medford, grab a table or a seat at the bar and get ready to have your taste buds tickled! Everything we tried was fantastic and we will definitely be back for more!
Waiter was very attentive
Their service is superb. I love them!
Came for my son's First Communion luncheon with family and friends. As always, loved the bread and dip. Nice selection of drinks for the grown-ups. The food is fun and tasty. The service was slow but friendly. Overall, a good lunch pick!
Good neighborhood family/casual restaurant. Good service. Good prices. Diverse menu selections
Their in-house bread was delicious. fasdfsdfewfsdafafewfwaefewfwefafaewfaewfasdfsadfewfawfaefawefafasdf
I visited with a gorup of 7. We made last minute reservations on Open Table. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated right away. Our server was friendly but seemed a bit stressed and the kitchen had some trouble with two of our meals. This is the first time it's happened at this location so we took it in stride. The one person in our party with a gluten allergy was treated well and eve though her meal came out wrong they fixed it right away.
We had kids and they put us in a side area. Our waitress came by so rarely. It took 45 to order our food. Drinks were forgotten. We had to get the included desserts to go as it had been 2 hours and the kids were exhausted. Our food was not great. Never again.
Not Your Average Joe's is usually great - food and service. Service was painfully slow, and the server mixed up order. When we wanted the check, we waited at least 15 minutes to find our server and that only happened because another server saw us looking. It was disappointing.
I love the fact they really do cook to order. This is a place where you can truly have it your way.
Nachos were delicious.
Friend and I had the Haddock lunch. Wonderful/delicious. Waiter was excellent and
cordial. My friend had never been to Joe's and was pleasantly surprised by the quality
of food.
Our server Jackie was very friendly and accommadating. Would definitely go back
Order the Tuscan Grilled Chicken sandwich so good!
Good food , great waitress & seated very quickly
Great food and service
It has been several years since our last visit to the restaurant due to very poor service and food was way under par. So much so that they did not charge us. But, that said, we gave it another try and have to say that the quality of service and food has improved immensely. My husband and I were both impressed and will certainly visit the restaurant again soon.
Bread/Dip excellent, Wine and Adult Beverages Great. The entrees were all cold. Food flavor was just ok. Not many vegetarian options.
I texted a reservation and got there 10 minutes early. We told them we were going to the bar to have a drink while we waited. They never came to get us and a half hour later we had to go back up to ask what happened. Not happy about that.
Popped in on a Frday night and the place was hopping. It's easy to see why! Great food and excellent wine selection at very reasonable prices. They make everything from scratch and you can always swap out the recommended side dishes for any other sides on the menu. Plenty of free parking. Service is friendly and efficient. Managers always visit tables to mkae sure each and every guest is happy...and we were!
Went to eat for my daughter's birthday. Service was great and friendly. Got the food fairly quick. There was a lot of selection on the menu. Food was decent but thought it can be a little more flavorful.
I don't get to NYAJ's as much as I'd like, but I always enjoy myself when I am there. We all had the soup for an appetizer- chicken noodle - fantastic on such a cold night. Our waitress was very bubbly and informative when we had questions. She made sure to check on us and was always smiling. 2 of us had a seasonal special (salmon) and one had another fish - we all very much enjoyed our meals.
The 12 of us really enjoy ourselves. We love how they put tables together so that we can be together. The food, drinks, desserts were perfect. The waiters were friendly and didn't keep you waiting. It is easy for us to get there.
Not Your Average Joe's is actually a little more like your average joe's. The food is solid, but my kabbobs were a little overcooked. The best thing is the bread and dipping sauce that they serve you when you walk in. That is amazing. Most of the other dishes are normal fare with a little twist here and there. Burger with blue cheese, Meatloaf stacked high with mashed potatoes (my daughter's favorite), salmon is good but again just a typical glaze.
I go when I can't think of anything else local, or I am with someone who is not very adventurous.
The food was average. My Waldorf salad was all lettuce and not much else. very disappointing.
The waitress was great.
Drinks were pretty light, could have been stronger !
I enjoy the atmosphere at NYAJ's food was delicious and service exceptional. We enjoy going there for a night out.
For an alternative to a diner or fast food restaurant, Not Your Average Joe's is fantastic. We like the panko-crusted chicken sandwich and the meatloaf. The endless bread with Parmesan olive oil and chili flakes is spot on.
I always love NYAJ's, especially the one in Medford. But I've recently been disappointed in their lack of healthy and lower calorie menu choices. Their drinks appear special but are very watered down with minimal flavor. I ordered the harvest sangria and was underwhelmed. I should have stuck with a glass of red wine. Nothing really jumped out at me to have for dinner, so my friend and I ordered two appetizers instead. The butternut squash flatbread was yummy but the lettuce wraps left something to be desired. Our waitress was great and very friendly. And I like the atmosphere of the Medford NYAJ's too. I'm sad that one of my favorite local restaurants is just "okay" now.
My husband and I love NYAJ and so when we get mailings we try to test it. It was frustrating that you did not have the pork shank special which was the reason why we came in last friday. Also service was particularly slow. Your manager at the Medford location was very helpful though.
We went here because it was my Birthday on 8/31 and they sent me a $15.00 coupon for my Birthday. Last year they paid for the whole dinner and it was awesome. This year was $15.00 and still awesome. We went with friends. I got the meatloaf but I am hooked on the "watermelon lemonade!" My boyfriend too. The best around. I highly suggest it. It's nice in there and the staff is so awesome and helpful. I highly recommend it.
Good food, reasonable prices. The signature bread with dipping sauce is quite good. The entrees are decent sized and of good quality. Reasonable prices too. Excellent selection of non-alcoholic but fun drinks. The staff was accomodating and the service was efficient and friendly. Conveniently located near Tufts. Recommend for visiting families.
Great service and good variety of meal selections. Hostess and server were very attentive and professional.
This location has never disappointed. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. My meal was great; I had the Cobb salad with the creamy basil dressing at our server's recommendation. I've been here several times and would go back again. We made a reservation which ended up not being necessary since it wasn't busy on a Sunday night, but having the option is nice.
