My daughter and I had a great dinner and a great time to get together.
I had a lovely lunch sitting outside with friends. The server was attentive and asked right away if there were any allergies. My veggie burger was delicious.
Excellent seasonal menu; very good beer selections. Friendly professional service. Best to come early.
Consistently good food and service. Server Drew did a great job for us.
The waitress started with an attitude and this continued when she came back a few times. She was almost non existent. Very hard to find her. I had to track down with another waiter to assist us. Finally had to get the maitre’d to get us checked out. Received a fork only and no knife. Refills were hard to track down. Food not prepared as desired. Usually this is a great place with great service and great food. Amazing how one person who doesn’t care can change this perception.
The sauerbraten from the Octoberfest menu was excellent.
We enjoyed our dinner very much! Service was excellent and our choice for dinner was great! We had selected one of the Octoberfest meals - our portions were large and served with their delicious freshly baked bread. A really pleasant weekday evening - we’ll certainly be returning for dinner again soon!
Was a nice lunch with the wife
Our waitress did an outstanding job! We had a young child and baby in our party. She was particularly attentive to their needs. Food was good except for eggs Benedict which were raw....whites were even runny. Our waitress removed those and substituted French toast which was tasty but very sweet.
I would not recommend the brunch menu but the rest of our food was good. It was a nice birthday celebration for my daughter.
Excellent food and outstanding service. Our server, Michael, was fantastic and made great entree recommendations.
The Oktoberfest pork schnitzle, spaetzle, red cabbage, hot pretzel, pumpkin/apple soup and Hoffbrau beer were all very tasty. Portions are huge!
Was not the greatest experience but I believe our waiter was new so I'm trying to be sympathetic.
We first got there and were seated immediately even though we were a little late. We sat outside and our waiter came right away so we ordered cocktails and when they were delivered and then we ordered our appetizer and meal. They put bread on table but no silverware or napkins. Napkins came but we were told silverware was backed up in kitchen, really? Silverware finally showed up then dinner came but no appetizer so sent dinner back and asked for appetizer first. Like I said Wasn't the greatest experience but I'll come back to see if it gets better.
Food and drinks are always good and their bread and dip just rock. Even better... they always take such care with my serious allergy.
Our waitress, Victoria, was fabulous!! Always a fun time!
Have eaten here at least 60 times since it opened in 2012. It's gotten a little too pricey lately, however, and some of the seasonal meals have been disappointing. We prefer to stick to the favorites.
My three siblings and I brought our mother to NYAJ two nights ago to celebrate her being 5 years removed from her last chemotherapy treatment. We had previously dined at NYAJ 5 years ago when she'd at that time just had her last treatment. The staff and management could not have been any kinder and genuine to us. From random staff members approaching our table to inquire and to share their own cancer stories, to management sharing such kind words and asking to take a photo with our family and the entire staff, to our own server giving us dessert for free and a large percentage off of our bill, NYAJ unequivocally made our dining experience all the more celebratory. Each one of us left that evening feeling both blessed for our mother and super special thanks to NYAJ's generosity and hospitality. And, of course, the food was DELICIOUS!
Good meal, great service; worked out very well! Enjoyed our experience.
Our first time at this restaurant. The food was really good, and the focaccia bread and dipping oil was especially tasty. They had a nice selection of draft beers. Unfortunately, our waiter was clueless and forgetful. We'll still give it another try, and hope for a more knowledgeable and attentive server. The gluten-free menu was impressive. There was ample parking in the strip mall lot, which was a plus.
Food was good but the waiter made a mistake on one of the dishes but it was quickly rectified
One of the worst culinary experiences ever. The scallops were undercooked (raw), the fried chicken was overcooked (tough and dry), the clams were sandy, the fish sandwich was watery (mushy), the broccoli rabe was extremely salty, the crispy potatoes were flabby, and the "warm"
almond encrusted goat cheese was actually frozen! When I told the server I didn't like anything on my plate, he thought I was kidding and never returned until I complained to another server. They did remove the two most objectionable items from the bill, and gave me a free salad (with the frozen goat cheese). The service was adequate, and the patio would have been lovely except for the incessant flies. People really seem to like this restaurant, but I can only assume it's because they don't have taste buds.
This is my third time at 'Joes' in the past month. They have a good thing going and it shows in the food they serve..The BEST pork chops .. Once is good but twice is outstanding,,,
Outside seating area was delightful. The servers were very friendly and diligent. The food was good. I ordered the tuna steak rare. It was cooked medium. The sides of potatoes and asparagus were a strange pairing, but tasty.
Outdoor chairs could be more comfortable
In need of a get together with friends and one suggested the Gaithersburg location of Not Your Average Joe's. Upon entering, was greeted by the host, and led to the table where one of my friends was already there...the third trailed behind me. I was surprised at how quiet the restaurant was compared to the Bethesda location. We could actually have a conversation! LOL! Food was satisfying but, I really think the ribs could have been a tad more tender...it was good since I ate it. It was a great place to get together and our server took care of us...was there when needed. There's a nice outside area to sit and chat which was nice.
This restaurant has steadily going downhill since it's opening. The food keeps getting worse and worse and they were always shorthanded with staff. What a shame because it was such a great place to eat lunch or dinner!
Outdoor seating was very nice but for the noise of the occasional trucks that passed close to the restaurant. Not a significant problem but did temporarily halt conversations. Service was pleasant and knowledgeable but sort of slow for a period when the restaurant did not seem to be too busy.
We attended a fund raiser for House With A Heart Senior Dog Sanctuary. I had never been there before. All my neighbors attended. They were happy to come to the fund-raiser because they recommended the restaurant. We'll eat there again. Marlon was a good and patient waiter.
Clean, comfortable except for chairs, quiet. One of my friends commented that chair seats have lost their firm padding. Had to ask waitress for refills on several things, bread, coffee, water. Food so-so. I wouldn't order the haddock sandwich again. Fries were hard and stale, probably from frozen.
We will not return to this restaurant. The food and service were okay but it was so loud that we couldn't even talk to each other. Kids were looking around the booth bothering us and the parents didn't stop them. Not enjoyable!
Food was great and waiter very nice, but we had to wait a long time--had reservations for 6 pm and were seated promptly, ordered quickly but food wasn't served until after 7--and we had 3 children in our party, who became impatient.
Have dined here quite frequently and been very pleased. This evening was, I hope, an exception. Dollar oysters were minuscule. Chicken dinner was soggy, mushy, undercooked and swimming in sauce with the rice drowned. Picked out the chicken chunks which looked like they had been grilled before being incorporated in the dish. Only ate the chicken and some of the rice. Chicken tortilla soup was pureed with slivers of tortilla adorning the top. Clam chowder had exactly 5 small pieces of clam and a bunch of potatoes, served at rather medium temperature so it cooled off rather quickly. Not many diners in the restaurant which may be a reflection of fading popularity. If this dinner was an indicator, I can well understand guests not wishing to return. My dining companion will not be back.
Food was good, but better yet the service (waiter) was truly outstanding and quite accommodating to our needs and requests.
The barbequed meatloaf was cold and had to be sent back for heating. Also the server was asked if the peppers contained in the meat was spicy. I was told that it was not excessively so which was not true. One of the diners had fried chicken which had no taste. Two diners had the steak tips which were tasteless and tough.
Very good food and atmosphere.
New summer selections are very good.
Long waits for gluten free breads
We came for the lobster roll special but we were disappointed. Not as good as most times we eat there.
We enjoyed a very nice dinner on the patio. Food was very good, Especially the white pizza. Penny our server did a great job. We eat at NYAJ often, and we're not disappointed.
We were enticed by emails announcing lobster rolls. I substituted asparagus for does. They were grilled and really yummy. My husband's fries were tasty too. Or server Kristen was perfect. She knew when to show up and when to leave us alone. The espresso was fabulous! It was so good, I had 2! We'll be back. Oh, the filing of the lobster rolls was good and tasty, the bread was not toasted much. I ended up eating it as a lettuce wrap and was very satisfied.
Marlin, our server, was fantastic. He has a great sense of humor. We never felt rushed, our food and drink came out in great time!
