Our restaurant sits in the beautiful Kentlands Square, minutes from Seneca Creek State Park and Eisenhower Memorial Highway (I-270). Enjoy dinner with us, and a movie at Paragon Theaters, or shop at Whole Foods Gaithersburg, and grab a bite after. The options are endless in the neighborhood - and on the menu!

I will echo these same sentiments to their social media page thru messenger. VERY dissatisfied!!!
Excellent dinner as always!
Great food and restaurant. I’ve been here a lot and I usually have great service but this time the waitress was short and unfriendly. It took a long time just to get drinks. We had to pull another waitress over (who was great) but we got stuck with the original waitress with a puss on her face all night. She got everything right with the food but we did have to reminder her twice about our second round of drinks. Maybe it was just a bad night for her.
Food is amazing. Love the summer specials. Prices a comparable to other restaurants in the area.
The meals off the special menu were very disappointing. The manager comped the poke bowl...it was soggy, but there was barely any dressing, however, the cucumbers were drenched in pickling liquid, and apparently pickled ginger is considered a vegetable, by its prominence.
Similarly, the lobster roll, typically very well executed at Joe's was made from lobster crumbs, not chunks. Delicious but not worth the price.
The meals off the house menu were very good and up to the standards we've come to expect from Not Your Average Joe's.
Best service and support ever!!! VALERIE IS AMAZING! Try your best to get seated in her section. She sings and everything! (Just one song, it won't hurt! She has a lovely voice!) I tried the Herb crusted cod, but it wasn't a good fit for my taste buds or tummy. I didn't mention it and was going to take the loss. Valerie noticed and asked, "What's wrong? You didn't like it. Let me get you something you'll like." Absolutely amazing! I truly appreciated her automatic care, concern and attention to our needs as patrons. Like magic, I had the wonderful Caribbean Chicken Tenders, prepared perfectly to order! My out of town guest was impressed and also appreciated the caring attentive service, all around. Try NYAJ the next time your in the mood for an excellent dining experience! Thank you again Valerie! See you soon.
Waited over 10 minutes to be greeted by the server and that was only due to us flagging down the hostess to let her know.
Food was great, and our waitress was friendly and attentive with refills. Only complaint was that the cheesesteak egg rolls appeared to be half filled. They were delicious, but it was a bit disappointing to find that only half was full!
Our meals were excellent! The shrimp scampi was a great twist on the entree. Joe's strawberry shortcake was superb! Paige was a great server and made it perfect.
Food is always amazing. Love the specials. Service is excellent.
We had six people in our group and none of them had anything good to say about their food. This was very unusual as our previous visits were often raved about. My meal was the pulled pork sandwich and it was very disappointing.
Been a long time since I've ordered a 3 course meal and had it all come out at the same time
We've eaten here many times (as well as gotten take-out) and love the food and the ambiance. We were even impressed this time because we arrived a half hour before they were to open and because of the heat were invited to come inside to wait rather than having to sit outside!
We were a party of eight. I had made a reservation and our table was set up per specifications, ine booster seat and two in need of gluten free food. Everyone found the food delicious, but most importantly the 2 adults with Celiac disease had no adverse reaction to any of the food. Service was excellent, and food was delivered promtly. The only criticism would be the noise level made conversation difficult, but not impossible.
Great place! Went here on a whim after going to a tasting. So nice! Will be back for sure.
Farewell to a colleague
The food and service were excellent. The waiter was attentive and got everything right.
Our server was great but the food was tasteless and boring.
Service was good. The lobster roll was tasty. The Sangria was not so good.
The food was delicious. The service was decent. I love coming to this place. The happy hour is so good! They even had a taco special for Tuesday’s.
Several people at our table got various burgers and they mixed up all the temperatures. Waited forever for condiments. Impossible to get beverages refreshed.
Great food, most everything made in-house. Good service and atmosphere.
Sad that they changed the gluten free rolls/bread. That was a highlight.
The restaurant was beautiful when you walk in but the side area near the bar could use something a little extra. We were sitting in the corner booth and it was a little dingy and the table wobbled.
Good food, decent prices and our server was so nice and a sweet person. It’s was our first time there and it was for Father’s Day and we will come back.
Had a health scare during brunch (Stroke). Staff were extremely helpful when EMT’s arrived to help get me into the ambulance. I’m extremely grateful to all. Because of the rapid response by everyone, I got transported quickly to the hospital and received treatment. Luckily, I have no lasting problems and should be back to my regular self in a few weeks. Thanks again for the help and support your staff provided, and my wife and I apologize if it made other customers uncomfortable during this whole episode.
Server was pushing the Father's day brunch buffet, but we couldn't do it due to members of the party with food allergies. Then we were told that NYAJ was only serving dinner portions for lunch, but strangely, I saw others who managed to order lunch portions... for lunch. Jambalaya was super salty, the shrimp scampi was missing all lemon flavor, and server was less than stellar.
Was not a great experience at NYAJ in Gaithersburg. I frequent the NYAJ in Reston, so I know you can do better...
Excellent food. Outstanding service. The buffet was a little on the expensive side.
Wish I could remember the name of our waitress! She was attentive, personable, very knowledgeable and accommodating. Hope she serves us the next time we visit!!
Patio is great. Nachos are disappointing, especially for the price. Kids meals are higher quality which we like.
There were eight of us. The server was great. I was there the week prior and I had the cod so did my husband. This time the coffees awful. Fishy. The broccoli over cooked. Kids Mac and Cheese and pizza the only good thing. Baked ziti, the sauce was too plain and tasted like it came out of a jar. Chicken Parm same thing and hardly any cheese.
The food is always good and the service is excellent. I wish the booths offered more space between table and seat.
Very good food and service. I even made it to happy hour. Very reasonable. I will definitely go back and eat there again.
Excellent service and food. The new menu items are delicious.
Great food great service. Went as a party of 7 which included a newborn and two 5 year olds. Had lots of space, was put away from any crowds and it was great. Service was great as our waitress was constantly refreshing drinks and bread. Food was delicious! Will be coming back.
With a name like "Not Your Average Joe's", I'd expect a place that's not average. Alas, that's what NYAJ is. Just average. The food was fine but not spectacular. The service was fine. The view from their smaller outdoor patio was of the parking lot. I should, perhaps, not have higher expectations for a restaurant in a suburban strip mall. Either way, when you tie all this up and put a bow on it, NYAJ's isn't worth the price. I don't think we'll be back.
The service at NYAJ has steadily gone downhill at the Gaithersburg location. I think it’s because the waitstaff all hang out by the kitchen instead of checking on the tables. Great food and drinks though
I've been to this location a few times and each time it keeps getting worse. This past time the bread served when you first sit down was cold and hard. My burger, which I ordered medium came out beyond well done. When I asked to have it remade it took a very long time. The meals were also served on 4in x 6in trays rather than plates and when I inquired the woman delivering the food said they view burgers as bar food so they use these trays now. In the meantime, a group stood at the edge of our booth and talked loudly for 15 minutes with people trying to squeeze by them and halfway into our booth every time. When the manager asked how everything was I told her she shouldn't let them stand there and talk on top of us and she said they were just "settling in" - that was an absurd answer. Ask them to step into the waiting area for a protracted and loud conversation (they were joking about adopting minority children because they would become rich athletes..). The wait service was also horrible as our drinks sat empty 90% of the time we were there.
This place used to be good but it seems like they just have a ton of staff that don't care anymore.
I could get past the hostess with the combat boots and tatoos. I could even get past the dried lettuce scrap on my bread plate. What I could NOT get past was the Mothers Day Buffet, which I was looking forward to, being cold and sloppy. The buffet looked as though it had been the victim of a ravenous hoard of buzzards, with things out of place and scraps lying everywhere - nothing replenished even when down to the remnants. The desert table had one piece of carrot cake (or something that looked like it) surrounded by a haphazard assortment of other items strewn about. The deviled eggs (about 6 remaining on a huge platter) looked and tasted as if they'd been there for hours. The eggs benedict, which were not benedict at all, as advertised, but rather florentine, and ice cold. The whole issue might have been poor management of the buffet area and the fact that the restaurant is not used to this. Covers on the chafing dishes might have helped with the food temperature, but none were present. After bringing this to our waiter's attention, we decided to order from the menu and our food from there was terrific and at the proper temperature. My chicken piccata was delicate and moist, and there were several large pieces along with the linguini. My daughter had the ahi tuna salad and informed our waiter about her balsamic and red wine vinegar allergy, but the chef left off the soy sauce which was NOT part of her allergy and would have made her meal tastier. Our waiter was also a bit stressed and appeared to be stretched thin with too many tables. He twice forgot straws for our bloody marys and we had to ask for bread and oil, which is normally delivered immediately. He also forgot our daughter's coke and had to be reminded. He was friendly enough and seemed to be trying hard under the circumstances. He also apologized profusely for the condition of the buffet. All in all I like Not Your Average Joe's, but I'll stick with the Bethesda location which seems to be better.
