Portion sizes have been reduced, prices have increased and although it was not crowded at all we seldom saw our waitress; the bread was very doughy (undercooked), we needed to look for our waitress to get a spoon for our coffee; I went to bar to get change for the bill as she was no where to be seen! Overall we were consistently kept waiting. She was pleasant and our order was correct but the meal dragged on and on and on.
We husband and I dined here on Friday night 11/10 for my birthday. Our waitress has another waitress trainee shadowing her, and the service was lacking. We had asked for bread and oil when they took our orders but it didn't come until our meals were served. We had wanted to enjoy the bread/oil while we were waiting for our meals. I ordered the seafood fettucine which I thought was pretty good, although there was no color (they're supposed to be grilled/seared) on the scallops and they seemed barely cooked. My husband got the new steak & cheese eggrolls dish, and he didn't care for them at all and he usually loves steak and cheese anything. He ate 1 eggroll and left the rest. While I was still eating the waitresses appeared and just grabbed his plate and left without even asking how his meal was. Didn't she wonder why the plate was still mostly full?? Later I had barely put down my fork after my last bite of food when again they appeared and grabbed my plate without even asking if I was finished. We asked for the check, and when it came it was incorrect (I had a coupon) so we had to flag her down and have it corrected. All in all it was a bit of a disappointment.
We had a terrific time at not your average Joe’s. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful too. Liz the manager was extremely friendly and helpful and out server Claudine did an excellent job with our table. Claudine checked in on us multiple times but not overbearing by any means. We will be back to the restaurant for another meal!!
We go quite often and the food is always good. We tried the new menu (pesto salmon was excellent) and had a number of choices. The drink service is always the slowest of the meal, even when the restaurant is not that busy. One note for Open Table users: make sure they indicate that you're seated. This is the second time they did not give me credit from OT and I'm still waiting after notifying OT.
Service was EXCELLENT and they had many gluten-free options, which was appreciated! The complimentary bread/garlic butter is a nice touch. They even had a gluten-free roll just for me, and it was scrumptious! I wouldn't recommend the pan-crusted haddock in gluten-free version, as the breading wasn't very good, but the fish was super fresh. Overall, great place for some good food, great service, and fun atmosphere!
We love this restaurant. The menu options change with the seasons and the service is always top-notch. My wife has significant food allergies to gluten, onions, and garlic. Our server was a rock star, making suggestions and coordinating with the kitchen to ensure my wife's entrée tasted great and did not make her sick. I enjoyed the BBQ meatloaf and my wife enjoyed the chicken parmesan. We also enjoyed the vegetable and shrimp tempura. The food was hot and delicious.
Not only was our reservation honored on time, but our table was already set with the famous NYAJ bread and dipping oil. And, as we had requested our favorite server, Melanie, our usual drinks were already on the table. (good thing we weren't late!!) I had the barbecued meatloaf, a new item and it was excellent. My wife had small Waldorf salad with grilled shrimp added. That was good, too.The only thing we find fault with is that there is no longer a low-calorie salad dressing offered. We miss the old raspberry vinaigrette. We were told that the supplier has been changed, but I would think a lo-cal alternative could be offered. Other than that we enjoyed our visit.
Service was very good; attentive but not overly so. We ordered small salads to start (I like this feature since you can get a creative salad to start in a small size). They were very good. The goat cheese salad is def a favorite since it's been on the menu for years. I ordered the proscuitto arugula pizza and this was a C- at best. The size was decent for $12.59 but the toppings were meh. There was plenty of proscuitto and that's the best I can say about the pizza. The greens were a bunch of different greens with very little arugula . There was shaved parmesan that was a bit rubbery. The crust was stiff, dry and tasteless. It had very little cheese and sauce on it and was supposed to. I tried using the bread dipping oil to liven it up andthat worked a bit, but it was just not a good pizza. Management did take it off the check...kudos to them. Another diner ordered a burger and that was tasty and cooked the way she ordered it. A quick note to Joe's, the bun is waaaaayyyy to big. She ended up taking thebun off and eating the burger like a steak. All in all, some good things about Joe's but nothing that makes me want to go running back there. Too many restaurants to choose from to go back to a C+ place.
The food is always great. On this occasion, we were there at the height of lunchtime, so it was very busy and incredibly loud. We found it hard to converse. Not a fault of NYAJ, of course.
Our only complaint could be that it was too cool. We didn’t say anything, though, because we were sure the servers really appreciated it.
I have never had a bad experience at Joe's , but unfortunately 2 people from our party who had the same salad have been sick since late Saturday night, I have never had anything like this happen at joes before, we had a great time otherwise, our appetizer was forgotten but was given to us for free due to the mistake which was very nice. Hopefully my mom and husband are feeling better tomorrow, both are still feeling pretty awful.
As usual the food was excellent! Server was friendly and attentive. Only complaint we had was that it was obvious that she smoked a cigarette on her break as the smell of smoke was overwhelming. Manager stopped by a few times and was extremely accommodating!
We were seated promptly. I ordered the Mustard Crusted Chicken which was good as usual. My wife ordered the small Waldorf Salad, which was a little disappointing in that the salad dressings being offered now no longer include the low-calorie Raspberry Vinaigrette. For that matter there are NO lo-cal dressings offered anymore and part of the appeal of the Waldorf salad was it's taste when combined with the red grapes, cranberries, apple cubes and candied pecans. My understanding is they changed suppliers of the dressing. Not as good as it used to be.
