Not Your Average Joe's Burlington Ratings and Reviews
Quiet spot, in a business district, which is great for a quiet Saturday evening date when all of the offices around are empty. We were seated and served promptly. The food is very good. Nothing extraordinary, but executed very well and at a very reasonable price.
I wasn’t sure if the scallops I ordered were thoroughly cooked. It was a little disappointing. I should have mentioned something to the waitress. Not Your Average Joe’s is one of my favorite restaurants. I have Celiac Disease and need to eat a gluten free diet.
This was my first time at this restaurant, my wife had been here prior.
Convenient for us since we live in Burlington. Friendly welcome, you can tell that they are aiming to please.
Jessica, (Our waitress) was very nice & had good recommendations. I (Anthony) tend to be so fussy to the point of being Neurotic.
On occasions I tend to drink a Margarita and it has to be perfect, nothing in between; well, this was the first time that I had ever tried a Pomegranate Margarita, it was stupendous. If you can please me, then you can please anyone.
Food was quick & cooked to our liking. Overall, this is a winner for a local dinner here and there.
Valentine’s dinner. The only complaint that I have is that for a table of two, you felt like a table of 4. It was difficult to have conversations because there was little space between us and the table next to us. The restaurant is great and this would be an easy fix for them. Will give it another chance
I have gone twice now and both times we have had good service and the food is good. I feel like the amount of food you get for the price is great. I also love the gluten free options that they have and the fact that I can get gluten free bread before my meal.
I ordered the fish with sweet potato fries and green beans. It was terrific. Nice large piece of fish and cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the sirloin tips. He loved them. Kind of wish you would go back to some of your original dishes when you first opened. They were truly amazing and we all miss them
Food is reliably good. Had a problem with one of five entrees, waitress immediately said she would bring another and offered soup or something else to eat while waiting. 2nd time was done right and we were not charged for the entree.
Back part of the dining room could be nicer. Like the front better but only works for parties of four or less.
Noise level usually comfortable but we were very close to a large, quite noisy group.
Will keep going there - great 90% of the time.
I have joined at NYAJ at many different locations with friends and family, and the restaurant food and service have never disappointed me. I had the chicken enchiladas which are delicious (although not calorie friendly) and a blackberry pomegranate margarita which was a great cocktail. There are many calorie friendly and indulgent options on the menu. The only thing I noticed was that it seems the bread recipe has changed.
I had reservations for 7PM, but wasn't seated till 20 minutes later. I can see the restaurant was very busy and the hostess stated only that they were running behind. She was apologetic, but didn't feel sincere. I wasn't too happy about having to wait when I had a reservation and was on time for it. The only saving grace was the food was very good. I ate the soup of the day, sweet potato and linguica and seated halibut. Both were very tasty. Our server was polite and attentive. I haven't been here in over 9 months and wanted to try it again. I still recommend this restaurant because the food was delicious. I hope the hostess or greeter figures out a system to actually honor reservation times.
As usual we had a great experience !! Service was excellent! Food was perfect. We paid with gift cards that we purchased earlier and two went through fine, but the third one wouldn't go through. Bruce, the manager said, without hesitation, that the remaining $35.00 would be comped from our bill for any inconvenience. He also gave us the number for customer service to rectify the problem with the gift card. That kind of customer service is truly rare these days and was much appreciated!!!! NYAJ Burlington is our favorite restaurant for those reasons. Great food, great service and outstanding management and staff!!
NYAJ is generally the go to place for couples, families, friends. Casual dining with some flair. Most entrées from $15 to $25. Popular for drinks too. In the past they focused on very high quality food and artistic presentation but now it's more run of the mill gastropub style food.
Table too close to door as they don’t have a very effective separation from reception area to dining. Cold air rushed in every time door was opened and when wait got longer people waiting forced to stand nearly over top of table. It does show they are popular place. Service was pleasant and very helpful
We waited a long time to get our food, something must have been off in the kitchen. The host offered us dessert comps, but we aren’t much for dessert and would have preferred a coupon for drinks or apps.
Our server was attentive and apologetic. Lucky, we like to talk.
We took our grand-daughter out for special treat to NYAJs We all love the onion bread and dipping oil. Grand-daughter had the Mustard Crusted Chicken which she liked. Wife and I had Waldorf Salads with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. We miss the lo-cal Raspberry vinaigrette dressing that used to be available. We shared a Peanut-butter Thing 3 ways for dessert
We have been to this NYAJ location in Burlington about 50 times over the years. The food is consistently great, with a staple of regular items augmented by seasonal menu of specials using local ingredients. The service is very friendly and we are almost always visited at our table by the manager who genuinely wants to hear our feedback and who knows us as regulars.
We went on a very busy evening with lots of large parties. Our waitress was great and took our order quickly, as we had a small child with us. Food and service were very good and came quickly even though the kitchen was busy. Only complaint is that it is very noisy when there are large parties.
Reserved a table for 10. Upon arrival, we found we'd been stuck in a back corner at two small tables that should have been for 6 or maybe 8 at most, not 10. We had to tell them to add an additional table top. Once settled we placed our order (drinks, salads/soups + entrees). We waited for quite a while and then all of the food arrived at once. I questioned the waitress as to why we didn't receive the soups/salads first and she just apologized casually and said the kitchen was overwhelmed. That's great except we didn't have room for all of the plates on the table. Overall it was a poor showing for the restaurant and a poor experience for our group. The waitress was as attentive as she could be but obviously overwhelmed as she was running around like a headless chicken. This was my first visit to this Not Your Average Joe's location and I don't think I'll be returning or recommending it. Parking was also a challenge with no spots available.
We had a wonderful experience. I called ahead to advise of my nieces food allergies which are many. The mgmt, chef, and waitress went out of their way to make sure my niece had a great dining experience. She has had several horrible ones so I was nervous about trying this new restaurant for her. She is from Maine and now she is very hopeful that you may open a restaurant in the Portland Maine area soon. I couldn't have been happier with the experience and we all loved our meals too!
