We frequent NYAJ's a lot and although the food was fabulous, the service was extremely slow and that was disappointing.

We consistently go to Not Your Average Joe's in Beverly since it has quality food for an affordable price. It has seemed like the quality of food has decreased in recent years. We were also able to compare it to a trip to the Acton Joe's since we went to both within a week and we realized the difference. It is not poor quality, but I recognize the decline and I'm a bit disappointed. Hopefully it is back on the rise...

It was great having reservations because it was as busy as it usually is on a Saturday night but we did not have to wait long to be seated. We wish there was a little more variety on the menu. We have tried just about everything now because we have been multiple times!

Food was excellent, our part of 8 had all differnet dinners and they all were great, only complaint was the Asian Vegtable lazagna could have been more filling, seemed small and not a lot to eat, but it was good!!!

Food is always great at Joe's. Balsamic Salmon is their best dish (if you happen to like salmon)!

We especially appreciated the service provided by our waitperson. She was fun, knew the menu, met our need to move things along so we could get to our theater date, etc. The food was good, and the atmosphere about what we expected.

The server was super-friendly and down to earth with suggestions. The food here is a very distinct step above other smaller run chains - more unique offerings and definitely fresh. We had the highly recommended short rib stroganoff and scallops with Israeli couscous on a rosemary stem. The short rib sauce was so delicious, we only regretted the noodles did not absorb all of it on the bottom of the bowl. The portions were perfect, not too big, not too small. We brought home no leftovers and did not gorge ourselves! The best part though was the pumpkin Oktoberfest beer, which came in a spice-rimmed glass. Desserts were just so-so. We had the creme brulee cheesecake, which was a little dry and pasty, and nothing to write home about.

I have been many times before. It was a busy Saturday night (but 6:30). I had a party of 10. We were seated without menus. The waitress was pleasant enough and took drink orders right away. She didn't seem to notice we had no menus. I had to get up and ask the hostess for some. (no big deal) When the food finally arrived, the portions were noticably smaller than usual. Everyone commented about this. I told the waitress and she just smiled and said she would tell the chef. I think they may have a new or different manager, since usually someone has always asked how everything was....

The lobster roll was good. If this was the mid west it might deserve an "excellent". But it is in competition with so many great lobster rolls in the eastern part of New England.

Numerous requests were made to turn down the AC. It was 62 outside and colder inside. People kept leaving to go out and get coats.
We asked our server numerous times and he told us "they were working on it". We asked again later and still no result. We were told it gets hot in the kitchen. I think.its more important to make the patrons comfortable.

not your averge joes is a solid meal. our service was very good and the server was delightful. the management needs to make sure that staff knows how to use a wine bottle opener. Not that i minded but I taught the waitress how to use the tool. all of our accomodations were met happily.

The food was delicious. I especially liked your herb crusted haddock. It is the best fish I have ever had at a restaurant. Our waitress was very helpful, accommodating amd friendly. Also, I always love the bread dipped in oil.
Overall it was a great experience. I am grateful that I receive a birthday meal each year, although that is not the only time I have chosen your restaurant.

Not your Average Joes in North Beverly has great food. It is always good. I like that it is value priced and that they experiment with the menu to try to offer something new. It is my go to restaurant when I want to eat really good food at reasonable prices.

I always enjoy NYAJ - especially when I can enjoy a free entree and dessert for my birthday, as was the case this time. Their complementary bread and dipping oil is perfect every time! Our server catered to our every need (i.e. extra bread/oil, drink refills). I had the peachy keen chicken and it was fresh/delicious, even the peaches tasted as if they were just chopped minutes before it went on my plate. Although I appreciate that some things on the menu remain the same, the ever changing menu is sure to satisfy and major kudos to using local ingredients! I also had the peanut butter dessert, which is wonderful - I love pouring on the sauces myself:)

We were seated promptly. The waiter was very friendly and did not rush us. I had two of the items on their "specials" menu. The watermelon and tomato gazpacho was absolutely delicious. It had a cucumber, olive and feta garnish that was great. Also had the peachy chicken with sweet potato fries that was also excellent. My husband had a large house salad with BBQ turkey tips. The turkey tips were excellent and the salad was the perfect size.

In a group of 3, one of us received a dry, overcooked piece of salmon. Both the waiter and manager immediately apologized, offers of a free soup or salad were made and the meal was quickly replaced. That was much appreciated.

We were a group of 9 women who had a wonderful time at 'Not your avg Joe's". The waiter was excellent and knew how to 'work' a table. He made the entire experience for a sometime 'picky' and 'critical' elder group just great fun. The young man was great!

And the food matched our waiter - TOP NOTCH and not a complaint from anyone! WOW! They all want to return.

Thank you

When in Beverly recently, we chose to eat at Not Your Average Joe's because we trusted the name. Alas, we were disappointed. The food was only fair, which surprised us; we are used to the consistently excellent food at Not Your Average Joe's Needham. Our server was a courteous "helicopter" - always hovering: she asked us if we were ready to order before we'd had a chance to look at the menu, how we liked our food before we'd had a chance to take a bite, whether she could clear my husband's plate while he was chewing the last of his meal and I was not close to finishing mine. The survey we were given to fill out along with our check perhaps explains our waitress's intrusiveness. Its emphasis? FAST service. Fast should not mean rushed!

Not Your Average Joe's cuisine is some of the best and most creative anywhere. It is so good that it is extremely rare to get a bad meal - just about everything (save for the mozzarella-stuffed meatloaf, which I thought was too heavy) is excellent - my wife loves the wedge salad with steak, and I thought their swordfish special with linguica salsa was fantastic and incredibly creative.

We had a server who admitted at first encounter that she was in training, so the service was not outstanding, but it was also not stellar as the guy who was training her was not paying attention to her or us.

the place was not overally crowded, and the food was par.

We love coming to NYAJ specifically for the gluten free menu...that makes life for those afflicted much easier!
