We have been coming to Beverly NYAJ, forever and we love, love, love, this restaurant!
Tonight was the last night in the Beverly location, before opening in Peabody next month!
Everyone is so nice and accommodating! We enjoy going on our birthdays as well as other occasions, and the food is delicious!
Not your average Joes is one of my favorite restaurants.
The food was good, but they were out of a few menu items. We didn't realize it was their last night before moving to a new location. We will give them another try after their move. Eric, our waiter was very friendly and helpful.
Great, Thanks. Will visit new location in the future.
We have never had a bad meal at NYAJ. Love sitting at the bar for a drink and a few apps or sitting in the dining room with the family
Busy place, great food! Sadly this location has closed; I went for one last - delicious - meal. Although NYAJ will reopen in a month at the mall, I assume with the same menu, for me, part of the appeal of the No. Beverly location was that it was NOT at the mall!
I've been a NYAJ's fan for a few years. The food is consistently good (pizza is excellent!), and the restaurant is just fun. They cope well with intolerance issues (the Admiral cannot eat onion or garlic), and the servers have been universally friendly. Appetizers at the bar 4-6 are an especially good deal.
Food and service always above average since opening many years ago. Small regional chain with low staff turnover and interesting menu changes each season.
Our server Monique was phenomenal! Very personable but not over bearing. We had a great last minute Monday night dinner out!
Lives up to its reputation. Good selection of choices, some interesting specials, nice sangria in a family friendly atmosphere. Staff is always helpful. This one was closing in a few days and moving to a new location in Peabody, but they had a full menu.
We count on NYAJ for excellent food and good service. This was a gathering on friends, and the entire experience was delightful. We use open table and always get a booth when we request and also find the servers very responsive. Our party especially liked the sesame hoisin salmon salad, the pork tenderloin, the cod, and the chicken quesadillas.
So-so experience. Waitstaff not too friendly. Our table and seats were not clean. Atmosphere was frenzied....not in a good way. We made a reservation and initially they could not find it and seemed reluctant to seat us until they found it.
Our party went here prior to attending a performance at the NSMT. As always, the food was good, the staff friendly and the ambiance casual and inviting. The waiter that we had was a bit slow but we had plenty of time so it was not an issue. The location in Beverly near the theatre and the 15% discount on food for theatre goers makes this a favorite stop.
I ordered a side salad with grilled salmon.
Next time I order this dish or any salad dish, I will request the salad dressing, in this case, vinaigrette "on the side"; not on the salad.
The salad greens were wilty and "very wet"...rather soggy.
The salmon, however, was very good.
Bathrooms are discusting need an overhaul ! Waiter was not trained as in the past and the food was just so so! They didn't have the wine we ordered! All in all disappointing !
Waiter was great and very attentive..,Lettice wrap ups were too spicy couldn't eat them.
The waiter we had was the absolute worst! Rude, very defensive and not attentive at all! I'm ever had a bad experience like this before.
Great lobster roll! 'Nuff said. Service was excellent and ambiance is nice. They're closing some NYAJs locations. Hope they keep this one open.
Food was great but I told the waiter when we sat down we had a time constraint and I think he forgot within seconds of leaving the table. Service was so slow and food took 45 mins to come out. I had to take my food to go.. left very annoyed.
Ribs were dry and overlooked as was the salmon. They keep changing the menu but don't get it right.
wine prices are quite high for a casual dining spot with no ambiance..Food is only average.
Akways great food and service and reasonably priced.
Can never go wrong here. Always great service and great food.
Service was great but the beer was not cold when delivered and the temperature was an issue as it got hot with occasional blasts of AC.
I would have liked a more everyday menu, more sandwich picks for lunch
my mustard crusted chicken was great, but my husband's steak tips were over done. He was very disappointed
Overall, a fun and lively place to dine. The food was very good although my salmon was a bit undercooked.
NYAJ's is such a nice, friendly and delicious restaurant. My husband and I frequent it often. We have been to other locations and enjoy them all. The staff is always very friendly, is willing to work with you on what your preferences are and also on giving separate checks which is so nice when we are with friends. When my friends and I go to the North Shore Music Theater we always go to the Beverly NYAJ's first. We all really enjoy it.
My last visit with a friend after an afternoon at the theater was ok. Our waiter was mostly why.
He was pretty blasé throughout the visit. He brought everything but we had to ask for more beverages (non alcoholic) . Also we both ordered mustard crusted chicken which arrived overly blackened on the back. Tasted burnt so we both had to search him down to reorder for us. He never came back to ask how our meal was. When we were done paying our bill he walked by and retrieved the paid check with not a word or a look....as he walked a bit away I whispered "you're welcome" to my friend! Usually not an issue when we go there so we were surprised. On another note, making a reservation through Open Table was fabulous!!
We love NYAJs and have been at many of the other locations. There are choices for everyone. And, they are very good with Gluten Free which is a consideration for us. Service is excellent.
We had dinner at Not Your Average Joe's before heading to the North Shore Music Theater for a show. The ability to make reservations was a big plus since we had time constraints. I love the bread and oil as an appetizer. The steak tips were great as usual. I was too full for dessert but love the peanut butter thing.
AC was not working and it was very hot and hard to enjoy our meal.
I am a bit disappointed with this visit. I looked forward to the new summer menu. I ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Definitely not Southern. The biscuits they have for this menu--HARD as a Hockey Puck. mentioned to the manager and she gave us a free desert. I got the carrot cake to go. Had it the next night and found a piece of glass in it. Called the restaurant to let the manager know. She was busy so I spoke to the hostess who said she would have the manager call me back- She NEVER called. May have to rethink about going back.
Waitress was excellent. Food was delicious. Love the bread!!!!
In all the years dining at this location, for the first time, we were very disappointed. The service was not as usual. The food quality left a lot to be desired. The waiter at times is appeared for a significant amount of time. We hope that this experience was an anomaly that we will not encounter in the future.
We go to NYAJ's frequently. We always have a good meal, good service, & it's reasonably priced!
Enjoyed our meal at Not Your Average Joe's in Beverly. Very nice wait staff.
Once again NYA Joes pleases. We went on a Saturday night, but had no wait after making a reservation with open table. I like to try to order from the specials, which change every month or so. I love how they are so accommodating with substitutions. If you don't like the side that comes with it, just change it. I got the flank steak, and my mother got the ribs. Both were excellent.
Second visit in 2 weeks as the first visit was great; service extraordinary, food cooked to perfection, and very tasty. This time service was slow-it seemed to take forever to get our order, and my basic hamburger, ordered medium, came out with a thick crust and was well done. Didn't say anything as we had spent far too much time already.
We have gone to Not Your Average Joe's in Beverly a lot over the last 6 years. While still having its nice diverse menu and nice bread and olive oil free appetizer, it seemed a little tired this time - not as clean as usual, the staff not quite as perky. Hope this is only temporary for what has long been an area reliable.
This place used to be our go-to restaurant but the portions keep getting smaller and the prices higher. My dinner was $19.99 and I literally got 6 very small pieces of what they said was flank (which it WASN'T, my dad was a meat-cutter, I know the difference in texture and taste -- it definitely was hanger), but you can go to many competitive restaurants get three times the steak for much less. They are definitely getting cheap with their proteins. Server also seemed over being there. I get that it's 8:30 on a Saturday night, but you know, PRETEND
