Our server Taylor was awesome! It was a special occasion (birthday) and the entire staff made us feel welcome. The food was fantastic and the entire family had a wonderful time.
Nite Lunch spot !
James (our server) did a fantastic job and was very attentive. The food and drinks was delicious. Definitely will be back.
Salmon was completely unseasoned along w the rice and broccoli. My wife did like her chicken and shrimp however.
Great food, service and atmosphere. I would definitely come back frequently!
What can I even say. We got there and tables in the main area were filled with employees jackets, restocking supplies and half eaten plates of food. We asked to put the Super Bowl on and it took them 30minutes to change the channel. Glasses were dirty and had lipstick stains. My boyfriend was given the wrong beer. Waitress took forever to take our order so we just got so frustrated we asked for the check and left and went somewhere else. Clearly their priority was takeout which I get; my boyfriend and I both worked in food service so we are very understanding but we just knew we were not going to enjoy ourselves so we left. Maybe they are normally better on busier days but it was not good that day.
We had lunch outside and the heaters were great on an otherwise very cold afternoon. The service was fabulous and the food was great - one burger and two beautiful salads as our entrees - really great afternoon and I appreciate the great job they are doing in such an odd time
The waitress did not have a friendly disposition. It took an unreasonable amount of time to get food and drink refills. I asked for my burger to be cooked medium and for extra cheese. The burger came out super well, basically charred, and it did not have extra cheese. They were also tight with the condiments.
Not impressed at all. Tried plant based burger. Extremely dry with very little sauce and cheese. Pricy for lunch .
Ordered the burger with sweet potato fries. Burger was ordered med-well, arrived burnt.
The sweet potato fries were ok, need a sauce or something to dip it into to make them pop!
Our server Jade was amazing! The food was excellent. It is truly a neighborhood gem!
Fun atmosphere and great service! Would definitely recommend!
I’m a regular, took my mom here for her birthday, she loved the ahi tuna, and drinks.
Sadly my service was unlike the name of the restaurant and was very average and that’s putting it nicely.
Very good and clean
Always a great meal and service!
I love the salmon, impossible burger, and the pomegranate martini.
Love NYAJ!! Always friendly; excellent service; delicious food - it's like my CHEERS! Thank you for always making every visit special and making me feel like family!
I’ve always loved this place but this last visit was not a good experience. I did outdoor dining and management was very stingy with using the outdoor heaters. The reasoning was that propane tanks were costly so they’d rather have their guest sit in the cold. There should be no reason why they don’t have the tanks on during peak hours to keep the area warm for patrons who come in to dine. No one should have to come in and wait 15 minutes to
Food was over cooked yet cold before it even reached our table I guess that explains the long wait time for dinner to get served. Usually one of my favorite go-tos but I was disappointed in both the service and the food.
Very covid conscious
NYAJ is 5/5 everytime. I've been here 30-40 times, and have never had a bad meal or experience.
My fiancé and I have been watching what we eat and the healthier options were phenomenal . The Turkey Avacado club was delicious . They gave more than enough sweet potato fries even though I only ate maybe 10 lol . Dining during covid was 5 stars
Overall not too bad. However the waitress barely came and we kept having to flag her over for drink refills.
Food has gone downhill! I have a picture of the burger and fries from NYAJ and one from the neighborhood’s local bar restaurant, puts NYAJ to shame.
The bun was cardboard texture, fries wilted and the paddy needs to go back to the freezer it came from. Don’t get me started with the soup...Service has never been so good here but the waitress was nice this time. I tend to go often to this NYAJ as it is in the area but won’t be going back anymore 👋🏻
This was my first time here and I would definitely return. Unfortunately, I am pescatarian so I was really looking forward to some of the seafood options they had but when we arrived they were only serving a condensed menu so I couldn't order what I really wanted. However, what I did order was still really good, especially the ahi tuna wontons (highly recommend!).
Booked a reservation and we ended getting there just a few minutes late. I guess they had already given away our reserved table which resulted in a 15 minute wait were we were entertained by the unprofessionally dressed host (Shorts and sandals in 30 degree weather?). The waitress was good, however, both items we attempted to order were “unavailable” yet it was 7pm on a Saturday night. Food was underwhelming and we just wanted to get out. We went to pay the bill leaving a generous tip nonetheless and were told they are a “cashless restaurant” which is fine but we were NEVER told it was. I mean we are both 19 year old college students and understand mistakes can happen but never have I felt the need to write a review after. Not even a “goodbye” or “thank you” as we headed out the door. Will remember to never come back 👍🏻
Overall a very positive experience..... In this crazy Covid world the restaurant is doing all it can to take care of its customers...... Diligent and courteous service throughout.... will make the effort to return and support this restaurant....
I was happy to see that Not Your Average Joe's offers outdoor seating as I am trying my best to be Covid safe. We made a reservation to sit outside, and we were seated on the patio by a heat lamp. The heat lamp did the trick, but soon after we were seated the heat lamp became weak and we quickly called over the host in order to have it fixed. The host told us that "we should be fine" because there was enough gas in the heat lamp, even though there was barely any heat coming from the lamp anymore. We thought this was odd because the host didn't help at all and just cared about how much gas was in the lamp, not about our comfort. We tried to flag down another employee for assistance, who told us she would get the manager. The manager never came and at this point we were just about frozen. Not planning on returning anytime soon. Don't have outdoor seating if you can't keep it comfortable!
I was so appreciative that I could eat outdoors again. The food was amazing and came very quickly. I am happy to support Not your Average Joes in the midst of this pandemic and will be back again for take out and outdoor dining!
Great menu, lots of choices, friendly staff and everything tasted delicious!
Not Your Average Joe's was covenient for distance from my home. Free parking in lot directly across the street and we were seated right away. Although it was outdoor seating there were heaters and tents available. Waiter was very attentive and pleasant.
My husband and I decided to make a reservation to eat outside on Tuesday not realizing how cold it actually was. When we got there, we saw that the outdoor dining was covered with plastic and there were heaters next to most of the tables. Luckily, where we ended up sitting had the heater next to us because the wind kept blowing the plastic into the table and it was still pretty cold. Our server was great and the food was good. I was a little disappointed with the lobster bisque. I had expected it to be creamier with more lobster chunks and not with such a strong tomato flavoring. It was still good. The 1/2 tuscan chicken sandwich was yummy and my husband enjoyed his jambalaya.
Host was bad. Waited for a long time before he even acknowledged us. Their outdoor set-up is pretty lousy as well. Waitress did fine. I know things are tough these days with coronavirus and the rules/limitations, but this overall experience was fairly bad.
Server was very good and aware of all covid guidelines.
Pleasantly surprised! Delicious food, great service, bar drinks superb! Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Great experience outside in the heated area while holiday shopping. The old fashion was awesome! As well as the lunch half sandwich & soup option. They do not take cash at all even in tip for which was odd. But other than that we will go anytime we are doing some shopping at suburban square!
Birthday great time good service and grateful there is outdoor seating
Was very good on a Saturday afternoon. Only outside dining . A bit cold but food was good
I was really impressed with the way the tent was designed, the use of heat lamps, and how comfortable it was considering it was 32 degrees outside. The staff was really accommodating considering we were late and never made us feel rushed as more people began to arrive. It was also cute how they had a standing area outside in front of the restaurant with tall tables, heat lamps, and a mini bar for people to socialize, grab a drink, and watch/ listen to the musicians performing outside. I also noticed how clean they are throughout which is a big plus. My only disappointment was that I didn't like the Simple Salmon entree I ordered. It was a big serving, but the salmon was overcooked (ordered medium-well) and dry. It pretty much tasted like it's name, literally. Simple. BUT the lobster bisque was soooooo good! I would go back just for that. And the dipping oil for the table bread was really good too. I put it on my simple salmon to give it some taste.
