Great place for business meetings as it is fairly quiet
Not to sound like foodie snobs, but NYAJ is our favorite chain. The menu is fairly interesting and diverse and the quality of the food is consistent from location to location. Our dinner on 3/30 was a occasional get-together with friends who live at a distance and this was a great compromise choice.
The food was very good, and our absolute favorite is the Ahi Tuna Wontons appetizer...highly recommended! Everything tastes fresh and the portions are reasonable.
Thanks for a great dining night out.
Not Your Average Joe’s is way above the rest. When you crave a great meal that won’t break your pocketbook, just head to Joe’s. Well prepared, fresh and tasty entrees and an extensive beer and wine selection if you so choose. For dinner, I had the steak tips with rice (instead of garlic mashed) and fresh green beans. My wife had soup and sandwich. “Meet me at Joe’s”!
We had a large party with 4 high chairs, everything was set up in advance, kids had crayons ready and everything was perfect!
We enjoyed a light bite at Not Your Average Joe's in Acton. My husband wanted some oysters on Buck-a-Shuck Monday. He said they were a little smaller than he likes but they were good. We each had a small salad and shared the Nacho Average Nachos, which we'd never had before. The chicken was so moist and tasty, and the salsa, which was primarily corn, was also very good. We would have them all again. Joe's never disappoints - the food is always freshly made.
Wonderful food and service, as always!
Over all, dinner was OK; my husband had the Heritage Pork Chop which he said was excellent. I ordered Chicken Enchiladas. We split a Caesar Salad up front.
Caesar dressing was seriously sweet, and definitely did not taste like Caesar dressing to us or to our server.
My entree came to the table in a hot plate, however, the food was not hot. ;-(
This dinner was a disappointment. I know they can do better than this.
We arrived and was shown to our table. Waitress was very friendly, courteous and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was good and ample. Would go back again.
Made a reservation here for a Friday night, great that you can do that here, it's always crowded and usually a wait. Cocktails very good but long wait for them on a busy Friday. Salmon special with mashed sweet potato was excellent, my husband had the scallops which he enjoyed. We both had salads, mine was delicious with toasted goat cheese. Bread as usual was great dipped in garlic/oil/parm. We did share a slice of key lime pie which was delicious. They emailed me a $10 off coupon so worth signing up! We will come back as we always do!
This restaurant is a favorite for my partner and me. On this occasion, however, I was there to catch up with a few old friends.
What I like is that the menu is frequently updated with seasonal items, so it's hard to get bored. And the menu is pretty wide-ranging. In this case I had the jambalaya, which was spicy without being overbearing, and extremely flavorful. Unfortunately, one of my dinner companions was not excited about her scallops, and ate less than half of the plate. For what it's worth, she ordered it without the normal bacon, which may have contributed to the disappointing taste.
Three of us split the flourless chocolate torte, which was just enough to seal the meal with chocolate (a definite necessity) without needless excess.
Service was prompt and friendly, and the server tolerated all the delays while we chatted rather than attended to the menu.
The steak tips were cooked perfectly. Our waitress was superb! I believe her name was Erna. She is simply delightful.
Our service was excellent. Food delicious and table hostess friendly made our meal a great experience. Thanks!
Haven't been to Joe's in a while, so I was looking forward to seeing how it was. The food is always Dependable - really good, not horribly creative, but you can always count on getting a good bang for your buck. Drinks are always great too. Our waitress was a little snippy, but we can deal with that. Saturday nights are very busy, and I'm sure she was a bit overwhelmed. We love Joe's, and we will be back.
We usually have good things to say about NYAJ’s, we always like to come here but this time our service was terrible. Our waitress didn’t bring water, there were dirty bread plates, drink orders were wrong THREE times and she was rude.
Power outage in the midst of dinner contributed to lots of smoke originating in the kitchen. Floors needed cleaning (i.e., slippery).
Great food, plenty of gluten free options available, including desserts! Attentive wait staff were very helpful and service was fast. The only drawback is the noise level during the main meal hours. It's very loud and often very hard to hear your own conversation.
I don't know what is going on with NYAJ's, but it is getting worse every time we go there, and we
typically go twice a week...... Up until recently because the food has gone down hill dramatically. First of all, it takes forEVER to get your food (didn't used to) and it just is NOT good. I had the salmon yesterday, with cold mashed sweet potatoes and spinach that was dripping in oil and way overdone. Nothing on that menu tastes good anymore. I have gone so far as to send a "private note" to joe's and got no response. just don't get it. I think it has something to do with who is in/managing the kitchen.
We see no reason to go back which is too bad as for years it was our go-to place.
Always good food. The bread and seasoned dipping oil are fantastic too
Have been to this restaurant many times and enjoy the food and atmosphere however on this night the restaurant was very cold. I mentioned to this to our waitress and she said its 73 in here. Had to put on my coat and the food cooled very fast. Will not rush back during the winter months.
Food was not particularly interesting. Very limited vegetarian options. My wife had a badly upset stomach afterwards which we think might have been due to the lukewarm veggie burger. She called the manager next day and received only the response "All our food is prepared fresh". Service was very pleasant. Pricing rather high for the standard of food.
Always good food and good service. Ambiance leaves something to be desired and noise level is often higher than I like but neither is troublesome enough to make us stay home.
My girlfriend and I took a long break from NYAJ. The last time we dined here we waited forever for service after our long wait things we wanted were not available, tonight was the polar opposite. Service was lightning quick, food and drinks came out quickly. We are firmly back on the NYAJ train.

Good gluten free options. They have gluten free bread for dipping in oil as well as gluten free bread crumbs on top of fish.
I've been to this restaurant many times; every time it was fabulous. This time, however, the Waldorf salad left me totally unimpressed.
My soup was fantastic. The rest of the meal, excellent. The salad was a dud. No color, just a lot of lettuce and a few chunks of granny smith apples.
Nevertheless, I'll be back because my experiences have always been been very posttive.
Ambience is usually good, but the staff spent a lot of time cleaning up a cnadle that was dropped on the booth chair. Lots of 'goo removal' was being sprayed so I covered my wine, salad and meal.

Good food. Fast service that was attentive. Always reliable.
The food and service were both very good. The atmosphere was not. There was a very loud table nearby. They were yelling across the restaurant to another table celebrating a birthday. When we asked to be moved to a quieter section our server found us another seat. However, I would have expected the manager to ask the group to quiet down or acknowledge to the other diners that that's not the atmosphere that NYAJ's is happy with.
A great local restaurant - tasty drinks, delicious food and the bread & dip is to die for! A nice place to treat yourself to a nice night out!
The food and drinks were great. The service from our waitress Julia was excellent! There were 7 of us and she kept an eye on the table at all times to make sure everyone had what they needed.
Overall a great experience. Our waitress proactively ensured that we were taken care of with the delay of our appetizer.
The Herb Crusted Haddock was very good - always dependable. FF’s were soggy, Herb Carrots didn’t seem fully cooked and were tasteless – won’t order those again. The lemon tart was just average – still miss the Molten Chocolate Cake with sauce and berries. Otherwise good family restaurant.
steak was tough (wedge steak salad) and meal overpriced
We've dined at this restaurant many times and always had a delicious meal. This time both of us had the same dish, the mustard crusted chicken, and it was delicious. I am very disappointed that you have discontinued the onion strings as a side dish. Big mistake.
The service was fabulous. Really the servers and a manger were terrific. The food was pretty horrible except the bread and my daughters burger.
They always have a great menu with many interesting choices. The value is excellent. I like that you can now make reservations.
Our server, JR, was awesome! My son enjoyed the kids pasta. I had the veggie burger, huge! My husband loved the scallops.
Services was so slow and the restaurant was not full. Waitress never offered refills. Food had clearly sat under heating lamps for many minutes before it came out. Chicken was dry. Waitress didn't even come back for the payment, thank goodness we had enough cash so we could pay and leave.
Very disappointed. For reservation, i asked about celebrating birthday for my friend and why we chose this location was convenience. The restaurant forgot about the birthday celebration which is very unfortunate. The sirloin tips were to be cooked medium and instead were burnt and lacked flavor. The rice pilaf isn’t what it is and instead was a hard clump of yellow rice. Not pleased and won’t go here again. There would be no reason for me to refer this restaurant.
have been long time patron since opening. Live and work nearby. Last few months showed decline in service, food and takeout ( which we used t do a lot) Last Holiday lunch with my office staff was not that great. Cold air was blowing at us ( it is winter) New manager ( I have not seen him before) was not pleasant and used condescendent tone . Waitress disappeared all together although it was late lunch hour by then and the place got empty. We chased her down finally after long wait and she just immediately brought out our check without us requesting it and did not offer coffee,/dessert at all.
When we came for dinner, our waitress wouldn't let me finish a sentence when trying to order our drinks. Then gave me a hard time about not eating my whole dinner when both my husband and I felt off about the meal. It sent my husband straight to the bathroom and she didn't really care that we were there until it came time to pay the bill in which she loomed to see what we would tip. It was VERY uncomfortable. I don't know if I'd be back again. When you go to dinner, you expect friendly service, not to be treated like we weren't there. Even dodged us when we looked right at her and when she asked if we needed anything, she just walked away as we were trying to let her know what we needed. We ordered another drink that never came to the table. It was just very uncomfortable as we have been there before with no issue whatsoever. We had to have a manager track her down so we could pay our bill.
