Great neighborhood place with varied menu, good food and drinks!
The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The food was very good. Overall, it was a relaxing, easy dinner out.
The drinks and food were very good.
Brought a friend, of 65 years, who was moving from Florida to New York, and a neighbor for dinner. Long time since I have been out in a restaurant. Your food was delicious as always and very quiet as few people.
Food was delicious, restaurant was pleasant, service was average. Server needed to be reminded to bring waters and bread. Will not keep us from coming back, but could certainly benefit from more training/mentoring.
NYAJ is all-round dependable for simple foods cooked well and a staff that performs with a great attitude. Kudos to Barbara on this visit for making sure everything was to our enjoyment.
Second time we have tried this particular one. First time was a 0 star. They lost our order and we sat there while they acted astonished 😲 that we didn't get our food, but that was a while ago. This time, Friday night and only 2 or 3 tables were being used. I know why. The dining room was filthy, previous customer's napkins under our table, water glass rings on the table. I ordered fish and chips and it was very expensive even by Boston standards. Portion was like a kids plate with a mountain of fries. I had never seen a meal that wasn't at a carnival that had so many fries. My wife's meal was supposed to have chicken as the star but it was the same. three little pieces mixed in to a salad and were lost. The rest of our party's meal was uneventful however the mac and cheese was enjoyed by the 6 year old. Sorry, but there are a lot of places in this area that do a better job.
We made a reservation for a certain time and they didn’t see this till 15 minutes after that time. We sat more than 10 minutes before anybody acknowledged us and asked us if we wanted a drink. We asked for a extra round of bread three times and they never brought it. The food is good and the ambience is great. We love this place but the service at this particular location was absolutely poor.
We were there mid-week so it was hard to tell if they shut tables down for COVID distancing, or if it was just a non busy evening. Wait staff (Ben) was excellent, attentive and accommodating to our food restrictions. Overall pleasant evening.
Amazing all the way around - server Ben was outstanding. Managers Claudine and Bethany added to the overall enjoyment. Food was fantastic - kudos the Chef Rob and staff. I highly recommend to all.
Was quite disappointed that 2 out of 3 meals had to be returned and cooked again. No one offered a discount, a free drink or dessert.
The service was a bit slow. The quality of the food was very good; however, the portions were a bit small for the fish dish that we had. Overall, the prices for the dinners was 4-5 dollars over priced. The sandwiches and salads were about 2-3 dollars overpriced. There are probably better values in restaurants around. We didn't get a soft drink with the meal because those were very overpriced. I
Good food and good service. A bit noisy on this visit. however.
My wife had the Mustard crusted chicken, a favaorite of ours. I tried the chicken and shrimp rice bowl for the first time. It was excellent and I would do it again. Server Ashley was prompt and efficient. Only complaint was there were a lot of fruit flies that we had to shoo away. Are they allowed to put out fly strips at closing to catch them overn ight?
Blue Moon Belgian ale!
Sweet Potato fries
This says it all.
(Great service, too)
The food was very good and a decent menu to select from. We went at 7 PM and stayed until closing at 9 as it was a social event. Maybe they were a bit short-staffed but we did not see our server very often. Our server was fine just did not see them that much.
We had a reservation at 2:30 on a Monday afternoon, was not seated until 3:00.
The chef sat us because he noticed we were standing for so long. The host did not see us or notice us the entire time we were in the restaurant. The waitress did not show up either, which made me suspect the waitress and host may be the same person but there were only 3 tables other than us. After have being sat by the chef, we were waiting for the waitress a total of 25 minutes, still no show. We got up and left, unfortunately.
The reservation process was great snd the waitress was excellent. It felt like the bartender didn’t really know how to properly garnish a drink. My chicken Caesar salad had really hard, tooth breaking croutons and very little dressing. My husband asked for salt and pepper and although she searched the place, our waitress could not find any salt packets. They ran out if salt! I felt badly for our wait person.
Not at all a nice experience on many levels.
Excellent portions. Tasty. Waiter and other staff members are very upbeat.
Slow service & only ok food. Went to celebrate a graduation but it was a poor choice. Understaffed, our server was nice. Not many customers and I don’t remember if there was music so no ambiance.
My wife had the meatloaf sandwich with sweet potato fries. I had the lobster roll with regular fries. Her sandwich was tasty and huge. Big enough for two meals. My lobster roll was tasty, but should be renamed to a lobster salad roll. It didn’t have large pieces of lobster like you get at most lobster shacks in New England. Plus the $32.00 price was a little steep. The raspberry sorbet was delicious.
Appears to be a staff issue, probably because of the 'pandemic', however that did not impact our visit - we were at the restaurant early, 5:45 pm. The House Manager delivered our food and was busy delivering all of the entrees. Food was good, but that is our expectation having visited a number of these restaurants.
Our first time back inside post-pandemic and absolutely worth the wait! As always, the food and service were excellent. Greeted by a super friendly front manager and our server, Haley, was fantastic. The BangBang Shrimp as an appetizer had the best spicy sauce, the perfect amount of heat. I had the Crusted Haddock with delicious broccoli, cooked to perfection. My husband had the salmon, which he said was excellent. The only unfortunate thing was that we were so full, we couldn't order dessert! Great dining experience all the way around.
Owner was very nice, and chatted with my dad for a bit. Waitress was fantastic, food was hot and delicious. Overall great experience!
We sat near the bar the bartender/server Anthony was excellent! The buffalo wings app and the salads were also excellent.
Had made a reservation, even though we didn't need one. Waitress was great, food was great, price alittle steep for lunch.
The restaurant was not clean, the tables were dirty and unkept. The service was good probably because we were 2 of ten in the restaurant. The food was adequate but not a great presentation!
Excellent service , Barbara is a great server
Excellent appetizers and salads , the mahi dinner was fishy
Moral of the story don’t order fish , it’s not a seafood restaurant Everything else was great
Delicious food, excellent service, reasonable prices. Will definitely be back!!
Food was pretty good- what was not appealing was the look of the restaurant as far as cleanliness. We sat against the wall and there was a small fire alarm above us that had to have had 2 inches of dust sitting there. The mirror next to it and the one across the way looked like they also needed a good cleaning. We wondered why it was so quiet for a Saturday night ....makes you wonder. Disappointing
Not Your Average Joe's is a perfect halfway-point for meeting my sister from CT and myself from NH. Not only is the location optimal, we have found the food consistently good and the service great. We particularly love the delicious bread served with an olive oil mixture that comes to the table before the entrees! Enjoy!
I will decide what the minimum will be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They’ve trimmed down the menu but what we ordered tasted great.
My boyfriend and I had ordered a pepperoni pizza and our waiter had brought a buffalo chicken pizza over. When we told him that we had ordered pepperoni and not buffalo chicken he proceeded to argue with us and say that he did not hear wrong and that we ordered buffalo chicken. We told him he may have gotten confused since we ordered the buffalo chicken appetizer but he said he was not confused and we ordered wrong. He then said “well it’s not my money it’s yours so if you want I can place a pepperoni pizza in”. I found this to be extremely rude and we just ended up eating the pizza. Our waiter was a male who worked at the bar on Wednesday night the 17th. We were very dissatisfied and it ruined our night.
it will be a long time before we return. NYAJ Acton used to be on our rotation of where to dine out. Currently their menu has been seriously cut back on offerings and the prices are up 25% or more.
Good variety on the menu. The corned beef and cabbage dinner was exceptional.
Lunch with a friend. We felt very safe inside as patrons were spaced far apart. The food was delicious as usual. The server was very pleasant. Service was a bit slow, probably because there were only two servers (that I could see) for the entire room, but we were very happy with the service otherwise.
Very sweet waitress! Good good and atmosphere!
Very enjoyable with delicious food.
Our waiter was fantastic!
Always reliable food, service and value. Cant go wrong at NYAJ!
