Nostrana—literally 'ours' —invokes local. Simple food from honest ingredients. Pure. Regional. Italian.

Opened in 2005, Nostrana is Chef/Owner Cathy Whims' love letter to Italy. This is a restaurant built on relationships: with our amazing farmers and purveyors, our dedicated staff, and of course with you, our guest.

We hope to offer something timeless and authentic in a beautiful space, the regional specialties of Italy deeply rooted in the Pacific Northwest. We strive to be better every day.

Excellent pasta dishes, prepared as I expect to find in Italy. I was not impressed with the red wine by the glass choices. Top-rate Italian breads.

The food and service was excellent as usual. I wish it wasn’t so loud. I’ll recommend to all the foodies I know. Love the place.

I visit Nostrana fairly often - it's my go-to place, not just my favorite Italian restaurant but my favorite restaurant. Thanks again for another wonderful meal!

We always love the food and menu at Nostrana. It is always creative and delicious. The food was delicious the night we went from appetizers and drinks to dessert. The reservation started a little rough with being sat at the table right next to the door even though we had the first reservation at opening and the better tables were not seated yet. We were accommodated when we asked to move but when they moved us they forgot to assign wait staff to our table so we sat for 25 min waiting for anyone to stop by and even take a drink order or bring water. I did flag down a waitress and she did fix the issue eventually. Once we did order drinks and appetizers our drink order appeared to get lost at the bar and our drinks arrived after our appetizer did. Just seemed like an off start for them that night. The rest of the meal was good service and the food was delicious as mentioned.

I have had a few really outstanding meals at Nostrana - amazing pizzas and pastas. Last visit the service was a little less attentive than usual but it was a busy Saturday night so perhaps that explains it - it isn't often you have to actually ask for more wine! But other than that - one of my fav Portland restaurants!

Food and drinks were excellent. Ambiance great. Server was a little brusque and haughty. A little odd. Overall we had a great evening.

Best Italian restaurant, and one of the best restaurants, in Portland. Consistently outstanding food and service.

I absolutely love this place. My mother and mother-in-law were in town for our baby party and we came here. I grew up on my mother's homestyle Italian cooking so we are all hard to impress. The short rib ragu is spectacular. We really enjoyed coursing out apps, the pizza, the main course and then dessert. If you have dinner here and don't order dessert, you missed out. Pro tip - it's all about the Budino.

All 8 of us enjoyed our meals and of course, the company. Our waitress was efficient, courteous and was at the table just the right amount of time. My only complaint was adding an additional 20 cents onto my bill. It wasn't the money, just the principle of doing that. Doesn't seem right to me.

This is the third time for me at this restaurant and it’s also the third time they placed my by the door. By the coat rack people. It was so cold and drafty and we got to greet all the people coming in!! Absolutely ridiculous. I love the food but not enough to sit in a corner and have a huge tab.

My husband and I had another delicious dinner at Nostrana. The very fresh, chopped salad was large and easily shared by two people. My husband had a well prepared, medium cooked pork chop while I had a pizza with meatballs, chopped olives with provolone. I loved the crust! I was unable to finish the pizza but found it to be just as tasty the next day. We had a terrific server who was attentive without hovering and had such a pleasant personality. I wish that I had asked for her name!!

Great desserts. The $80 steak was so-so; I could have made the same steak at home and I do not consider myself a cook. The server was on the pushy-side: anxious for us to make the meal choices; a bit grumpy when my friend asked for additional bread with a side of butter. We asked for horseradish sauce to help with the steak and we were told they did not have any horseradish sauce. Our friend's wife had the pizza which she said was good. My friend had the roasted chicken and he said that was good. Would I go back? Only for the desserts.

A regular spot for special occasions, this visit did not disappoint. The service hadn’t been great the past few visits, but tonight’s was outstanding.

We got lost, missed our reservation (I called immediately and said we took a wrong turn and would be late and was told "no worries") and then were not treated very well when we arrived, particularly by the person at the front desk. After waiting for a while we were given the worst table in the entire restaurant and it was so cold I had to wear my coat the whole time. Very noisy, large room, very busy restaurant, even at 9:00. Wouldn't recommend it unless you have a high tolerance for noise and like a frenetic atmosphere.

Reliable as usual in every way. Bring a bottle of wine and the corkage is $25 but if you buy another off their list they waive the corkage on your bottle. Now that’s what I call accommodating. Their Italian wine list is quite extensive and the wine director will help you make a decision.

Nostrana is one of our favorite restaurants in Portland. The food is always amazing, the service is great, but you need to make a reservation long in advance to get a table for dinner. It's not cheap, of course, but you will love the food. Don't forget to try their pizzas. And the apple cobbler is to die for.

We enjoyed excellent pizza and goat cheese stuffed into pasta; we also enjoyed the mista salad which is served in a large bowl with excellent olive oil and balsamic on the side. Wine list is very good but we would bring our own and pay corkage fee next time.

Food was excellent. My nephew has a allergy to peanuts and eggs and the waiter staff was very attentive and made sure to tell us which one of our food choices does not have eggs. Our dinner was very enjoyable and worry free.

The food and wine recommendations were great and they had a nice selection of Italian wines. The only downside was the cramped table for six. The table was definitely designed for four guests comfortably but we squeezed six at the table.

Visiting Portland and were looking for a decent pizza which the restaurant provided. Stone oven baked w nice crust and delicious topping options. My wife had the crab pasta which was fabulous albeit somewhat small in portion. Staff was accommodating and service quick. Our desert included a spumoni which was the best we've ever had.
