Had a wonderful evening! It was our 43rd wedding anniversary and everything about our cocktails, dinner and service was superb. We will be dining here again soon!
Our server was extremely attentive to our needs. The food was excellent. Although my wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary, I wouldn't consider it a romantic place since the noise level is very high. Overall, I highly recommend it.
Nostrana is our go-to restaurant for casual meals and for entertaining out of town visitors. This time I had the Nostrana Insalata and the Special (a chicken meatball sub). The salad was great as usual, while the sub was disappointing due excessive salt and weak tomato sauce. We both had a glass of J. Christopher Pinot. A favorite wine that was a treat. Nostrana was not up to its usual standards, but still enjoyable.
Everything was amazing!! We had heard many great things about Nostrana and they certainly did not disappoint!!
If only the wine and drinks weren’t so expensive, I would eat here for every special occasion! The food was delicious, service was prompt (we got our pizza in a few minutes!) and atmosphere lovely.
The parpadella with goat cheese was pasta perfection. The trout was delicious. The flourless chocolate cake was terrific.
Food was amazing, as always!
Nostrana is always a great place to go on date night. The food is always great and the service impeccable. Waiting for a table; however, when you have an existing reservation is somewhat frustrating.
The food was lacking flavor or too salty - leaving it to seem mildly over priced for what the meal was. However, the presentation was fantastic.
The radicchio Caesar salad was fantastic! Our other dishes were also very good. However, the salmon seemed to be cut in a strange way, such that it was hard to remove the skin and gray part underneath (both of which my husband doesn't care for). It took quite a while to get the sommelier over to the table to help us with a wine selection, so we didn't get our wine until we were half way through our entrees. Two of our party asked for Parmesan cheese to go with their pasta and it was never delivered. The chocolate budino dessert was delicious!
Nostrana always rises to the top of our restaurant list year after year. Another amazing anniversary dinner shared here celebrating 16 years married. A beautiful bottle of Chianti followed by wood fired Pizza Margherita, rigatoni with beef ragu and a rotisserie chicken with sides. Last but not least a peach and blueberry crisp with warm cream. Our waitress was lovely and the ambience was great as always. Can’t wait for next time.
The food is dependably excellent. The berry cobbler is amazing. Make sure to order it when you order your entree.
Food was oversalted and overpriced. I will not be coming back.
love it amazing food great service all food taste amazing
Too noisy!! No conversation possible. Wine very expensive.
Everytime we go to Nostrana it’s a total adventure! True foodies will love this Italian food. Everyday is different and we were there for Fish Friday. It was so incredible! The food, the ambiance, the staff, and everything. We went there a touch early and were invited to enjoy a drink in their new bar area. Well worth a visit! Please go and enjoy this epic spot!
WE loved our server, T, the ambiance, food, overall service level. 2 constructive comments: 1. We had a group of 5 sitting at a table meant for 4. Having 2 people on one side of the table was less than desirable. 2. The one area that I continue to be disappointed is the lack of wines in a more affordable price point. Mostly 13-14 dollars a glass, and would like something in the 9-10 dollar range. I find myself ordering more beer than wine. Also the wine pour is very small, which compounds the price point issue. Paying 14 dollars and getting a small pour makes me want to not order wine in the future. Overall we love the restaurant in all aspects, but want to offer those 2 points of constructive feedback. We will always recommend Nostrana, and in fact brought 2 friends from Chicago on Friday night, and they loved it!!!!
Everything was great per usual! Never not get the cheesecake.
Really fantastic food and the atmosphere is great! Had a lovely evening with friends and family. Also make sure you go on a Thursday for Gnocchi night!!!
Great food, great wine list, nice staff, very noisy and very dear.
Nostrana is one of the best Italian restaurants I know of in America. The food is delicious, the wine selection excellent and the wait service attentive. Do not miss this place!
Good meal, always busy with good service
This is a rave review! My husband and I dined at Nostrana for my birthday. Our server was friendly, so helpful and knowledgeable. Inside, the restaurant was busy with happy energy. The weather was fine and we sat outside. We brought our well-behaved dog and she gave him water. Our wine sommelier was helpful and attentive. We share the raddichio salad, a pizza with sliced fresh heirloom tomatoes, and a dish of chuck roast, potatoes and collard greens. For dessert we ordered panacotta and budino, a caramel pudding. OMG! Each dish was exquisite and perfect. I could eat it all again right now. It was a perfect evening. I LOVE NOSTRANA!
Average food and service. Expected more for the money
Tried to apply several times to open table but it wouldn’t allow.
Birthday for my girlfriend and I. I thought I sent a review but guess not. 2 kids running from the parking lot and under our table. I tried 3 times to ask them nicely to not to . Obviously the parents and grandparents didn’t think nothing of it or the staff. It went on for a good half hour until 2 tables in front of us a lady stood up and yelled at the kids . Very disappointed when your paying 130.00$
Our food was excellent, but the service is what really made the meal special.
Our best meal in Portland. The food and service were excellent.
We had a lovely meal at Nostrana! We shared a special bottle of wine (corkage $25) with a starter course of
Caprese (mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, balsamic reduction & basil) followed by a Ceasar salad, skirt steak, roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and gnocchi, shared by four. I highly recommend the gnocchi special: 2 large pieces of gnocchi smothered in tomato sauce and covered with cheese, served sizzling in a skillet. For desert we had an amazing butterscotch pudding covered with buttery syrup and a sprinkle of sea salt - delicious! The service was friendly and efficient. We sat on the patio. The meal was perfect. We highly recommend Nostrana!
We love Nostrana! Chose to dine there for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed.
We were welcomed by friendly staff and seated immediately, having made a reservation. Drinks were great, appetizer was seasonal and delicious. Contorni options were broad, and also scrumptious. The pasta options and entree options were varied and it was hard to choose between the selections. Our server was responsive to our needs and we had an exceptional dining experience. Definitely recommend getting reservations to avoid a wait. It's definitely worth any extra effort.
Nice place, a little noisy but that’s what happens when a place is popular. Husband loves their onion soup
As usual everything was wonderful, great food, wine and service. This is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Portland.
Great food, great service, great wine selection, great atmosphere. Not inexpensive. Would like to see a few more wines in a moderate price category.
One of the best meals I've had in ages! The wine list is challenging because it features almost all Italian wines, but the server was so knowledgeable, that she helped us make excellent pairings. Can't wait to go back!
The Italian sommelier was great, the food and ambiance were good, the waitress was inattentive.
Considering a $300 + (without tip) bill for 2 adults and 2 children, it is sad to see how one server can change the after taste of the whole experience.
There was a mistake with our reservation and hostess and manager handeled with rudeness and off-putting attitude.
The service and graciousness of the waitstaff was excellent and the food was great. The charcuterie is an amazing value.
Fabulous patio and always great food.
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful meal with another couple on a Thursday evening. Service was professional and friendly from cocktails through dessert. We enjoyed the Thursday specials of gnocchi (several sauces to choose from, the pork ragu being fabulous), a pizza and one of the larger salads. The Nostrana salad of radicchio is outrageously good and was shared by a couple of us. My husband had a pork roast "tonnato" as a first course and it too was delicious. Their affoggato is my favorite in town, even with decaf coffee - just wonderful ice cream and wonderful coffee. The only only negative is the level of sound on such a bustling night. With just four people, we could still hear each other by listening closely, but it would have been hard with six or more. Still, the food is so good that we are willing to overlook that.
We shared a pizza and bottle of wine. Both were superb. For the main course I had beef flank steak and my wife a lamb chop. The beef was excellent, the lamb a little tough. Desert was tiramisu. Nothing special.
Service was great. Friendly and attentive.
We ate on the terrace. Really nice. Inside was quite noisy. We won’t go back unless a terrace table is available.
Prices were reasonable.
Very cute spot - stacks of wood in the corner, exposed beams in the ceiling, very nice decor. I LOVED the bread they brought us before our lunch - So warm and soft and delish. We got a crab brushetta which I was super excited about, but didn't love. Was sorta bland. Didn't taste like crab or brushetta to me. We ordered 2 types of gnocci - the ragu beef one was yummy, rich and tasty. The other gnocci we got was with cheese and procutto and was just overly cheesy, too rich for my blood.
