Lavraki - Branzino
whole mediterranean bass, white-moist-tender flakes, delicate, mild flavor
(seasonal) served over sauteed spinach topped with tomatoes, olives, capers and scallions
layers of thinly sliced baby eggplant, potatoes and seasoned ground beef topped with a rich bechamel
We had a 8:30pm reservation on a Saturday, since the moment we got there we were rushed all the way till the end. Many items on the menu were not available or the waiter could not even explained them.
The worst part was the wine: I ordered a specific bottle, however they brought a different one, did not show the label to us before tasting and then he just served it. After a glass I looked at the bottle and realized it was not what I ordered, so asked for the wine list again. At that point the guy apologized and said it was the same price as the one I ordered and from the same vineyard. We liked the wine and thus did not want to make a scene, but were truly disappointed when realized he knew exactly what he had done and tried to get away with it.
At least the food is still good quality and well prepared, but the overall experience was very disappointing due to extremely bad service for a restaurant of this level.
Amazing restaurant with the best Bronzino I’ve ever tasted. A very conscientious staff which is been there for quite some time. Highly recommend.
One of our favorite Greek restaurants in the area! Always a great experience!!
Disappointing birthday dinner for my wife...Told to order something else 20 minutes after we ordered..She couldn't finish her food and we had them box it up only to turn out that they disposed of it. Octopus was too charred and not chewy at all.
Going to Nostos is like a quick visit to Greece. The food is fresh, authentic and delicious. Gerry takes fabulous care of us. His wonderful service and delightful food culminates into a marvelous dining experience. The Bronzino is so fresh you might think you are in the Med. Gerry filets the fish table side with expert precision. The Greek salad is filled with ripe tomatoes with a fabulous dressing of Greek olive oil and red wine vinegar. The feta saganaki is covered in sesame seeds topped with Greek honey and almond slices. Don't miss a trip to Greek via Tysons Corner, VA.
This is my favorite restaurant in Tyson's Corner.
Excellent food and atmosphere, we enjoyed our time.
Visited for lunch on weekday and had reservation. Sat quickly and table and atmosphere were nice. Ordered special appetizer, baked feta and it was yummy. Only problem is the food came like 4 minutes later and waitstaff had no concern leaving it with us when we clearly just got our appetizer. I ordered trout special and by time I ate it it was lukewarm. It was a business lunch or I would have spoken to manager. I expect better service in this type of restaurant. Didn’t feel waitstaff were particularly customer service focused. Others came to get food plates before we were ready. Felt rushed. Overall, not great experience.
Great food, ok service. It was our anniversary, nobody said anything.
Excellent all around. Easy to make the reservation and great communication from the restaurant to confirm. Experience was great from when we walked through the door. Table was great, food was AMAZING, and we had a wonderful time. We will definitely be back to this restaurant again! Thank you to all of the staff for making this birthday dinner a special time.
Always the best!
Lamb shank was over cooked and stale. Branzini was flat tasting . Only item good was the fish fries appetizer. Previously frozen food very evident
Food was good , service was pathetic. Should my entire meal, from appetizers, entrees, and desert be served in 35 minutes for a $200 dinner? They served our dinner while we were still eating our appetizers. Then I had to literally get up and find my waiter to get my wife a glass of wine because he was MIA for 20 minutes!
Then he told us they were in a holiday mood. People who came.in after us were still on appetizers while they were rushing us out of the restaurant.
We will be taking a permanent holiday from Nostos, and I will be sure to tell my family and friends to do the same. A shame because we were loyal customers.
Spend your money somewhere else!
Very nice ambience. Mousakka was delicious but all dishes were on small size.
New Year’s Eve
Consistently excellent food.
Excellent meal at Nostos. The swordfish was especially tasty. My only complaint was regarding the salad (Horiatiki). The grape tomatoes were a poor substitute for the real deal (cut-up full sized tomatoes, the way it's served in Greece). And the cucumbers tasted a bit odd.
I grew up in Greece and miss Greek food and delicacies. Nostos is the only agreed restaurant I’ve been to anywhere in the USA that serves great authentic Greek food.
This is my second time eating at Nostos, both times we enjoyed delicious appetizers and luscious entree's. Would highly recommend celebrating a special occasion at Nostos.
The food was excellent, and I will absolutely be back.
Flaming cheese and lamb chops outstanding.
Nostos has incredible food. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in the DMV area. I’ve been going there regularly for over 5 years. It is always spot on with great service and a top of the line menu. The skewered sword fish is to die for. And, they are very vegetarian friendly. The grilled haloumi OMG! You will not be disappointed.
Nostos is consistently fabulous! This latest visit was up to our high expectations as the mezedes were all fantastic. There was a baked artichoke heart in an avgolemono sauce that was simply amazing. Taromosalata was superb. The grilled octopus and the swordfish were perfect. The saganaki flamed at the table was excellent. The baxevanis fruit baklava was phenomenal. Our server, Panagiotis, was affable and attentive. Overall five stars!!
The food was amazing! My personal favorites were the grilled octopus, the sauteed shrimp, and branzino. So fresh and delicious! There was also an AWESOME dish with cheese topped with a savory sorbet, but I do not know the name and don't see it it on the online menu. Incredible!
Nostos is always good. A first class Greek restaurant.
Celebrated a good friend’s birthday at Nostos and had a wonderful evening! We decided to do small plates so we could all share different dishes. Everything was delicious! And we had a Greek wine that our waiter recommended that was also very good. We had a slice of the orange cake for dessert that was tasty, not too sweet, and a chocolate mousse that was good, but nothing special. Service was on point the whole night even though there were a couple of private parties going on. We all enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back!
Great food, exceptional service. Worth the price. The swordfish skewer is heavenly.
Great food and service. A bit noisy but tolerable. I will return because food was delicious but they were out of several of the fish dishes.
Parking spaces are quite small.
Excellent service and the menu includes some interesting variations old old Greek standards
Simply the best restaurant in Northern Virginia. Dining there will take you to beautiful Santorini, Greece. The sea bass is to die for. I also love their Kolokithakia, thinly sliced crisp zucchini served with tzatziki and Taramosalata, lemony mousse of fish roe, along with the Greek salad, which is very fresh and yummy.
Fantastic food and atmosphere. One of my favorite restaurants in the area.
Great friendly staff, our waiter was very patient, knowledgeable with the items on the menu and made great recommendations. The food was great, presentation exceptional, and the environment was very festive and appropriate for the season
Will definitely go again
The staff was great (opening doors, the woman at the front desk was sooo sweet, bartenders were all very friendly)
The restaurant was beautiful
The food ☹️ We ordered basically every skewer they offered and they were all INCREDIBLY dry and generally lacked flavor. Really really disappointed. (The halibut and ‘filet mignon’ skewers were the worst of the bunch.)
There’s also no cocktail menu?? I would have loved to order some fun cocktails but there aren’t any.
We have dined in Nostos many times. However the bread they served was so poor quality and cold, didn’t feel like a better restaurant. I suggest they reconsider the bread, served. Still love this restaurant.
Good is always consistent and delicious.
Drive from neighboring state as it’s the freshest Greek food around.
Appreciate the staff - always helpful if ever there are any concerns or needs.
Outstanding restaurant. One of our favorites. Try the octopus. It is a treat.
Nostos continues to be one of our favorite places to dine in Northern VA. Exceptional Greek food, lovely wines and very pleasant ambiance.
Very attentive server, nice table location, good food. I’ll be back.
