Nose Dive Ratings and Reviews
Made reservations for a Saturday night recently for my wife's bday. Was disappointed to see that not one person (receptionist/wait staff) mentioned her birthday after specifying on our reservations. Food was just ok. Not overly impressed with the cocktails either. Mine was very over iced and then in turn watered down (Moscow mule, filled to the brim with crushed ice, was difficult to drink and expensive for being 9-10$) The handle on the copper mule cup also broke off after having a few sips. Great location and atmosphere, the potential was there but a little more attention to detail would have vastly improved the dining experience. Would probably look to a different location for a special occasion in the future.
Nose Dive wasn't a bad dining experience, but my wife and I both left feeling a bit underwhelmed. No one part was a disaster, with the possible exception of a $7 draft beer, but given the hype we had read online we did not see what the fuss was about. The style of the dining area does posses a cool vibe, but everything else seemed to be built on the awesome location that surely must drive a lot of people into the restaurant.
The appetizer bummed us out. It was the crab and shrimp lettuce cup. Ugh. It was like grocery store seafood salad on bib lettuce. Gross. My duck was not crispy, even though the entree title was literally "crispy duck." However, the heirloom potatoes were fantastic. And the steak my partner had was really good. But overall, it was "meh." The service was good. We told the waiter we were going to a show, so he got us the check and checked on us often enough so that we had plenty of time without feeling rushed. But the guy who brought out plates out was a little rude. He brought my duck and another plate that was a vegetable plate. He came up, looked at my partner, and said, "Vegetable plate?" My partner politely said, "No." Then, in a really rude voice, the guy said, "Really? You didn't have the duck and the vegetable plate?" His voice was as if he was in disbelief and that we were messing with him. But our server came up immediately and apologized for the mix up and brought our food out.
One of my favs downtown. Decided to finally try the grown up grilled cheese sandwich and it didn't disappoint. How can you go wrong with brie, sliced apples and fig preserves toasted on sourdough. Came with French fries on the side perfectly cooked. And their spinach salad with homemade dressing, dried cranberries and candied pecans is one of my favorites. Went with friends before a local play downtown at Centre Stage. Open air windows that night made for the perfect evening out. Our waiter, from UK, was delightful. Available seating outdoors as well.
It was ok. We made a last minute reservation, and it was only after getting drinks at the bar while waiting (we were early) that we were informed that they would be unable to honor our reservation. I assume the man who told us was the manager. He did not make an attempt to seat us early (there was an hour wait) or any other sort of customer service gesture. Had we not just ordered drinks, we would have left.
Luckily, a hostess had more customer service sense than he did and seated us in 20 minutes.
The food was ok. The menu was uninspired. We weren't really blown away by anything.
The service was slow, our drink orders were wrong and the server forgot my friend’s drink all together. We had to remind him about it. I ordered the special that evening because the server said it featured a tomato cream sauce. It came out and looked and tasted like a marinara sauce and appeared to have been sitting under the heat lamps. Our appetizer was just ok. I was expecting better food and service since they rebranded. We ate there many times before the rebranding and it was great! I always got the burger. Should have stuck with that, I suppose.
Eat there regularly. This time it wasn't the best. Couple of glasses of wine which we both thought were light on the pour. An appetizer we sent back. Hamburger with fries. The tomato in particular was "old" and I don't know why you can only get one kind of cheese on it. Lobster sandwich which my wife loves, but the sweet potato fries had so much salt on them she would not eat them. We did tell the waiter, he thought it was unusual. Now I know to ask for the "no salt" option.
Took my wife there on Sunday on our 1 year wedding anniversary, at the place where we met. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, including scouring their sister restaurants wine cellar for a certain bottle we had on our first date. The burger was perfect, no better way to describe it. Thanks for helping us fall in love. Ryan and Holly
We loved it! My husband and I have been to Nose Dive several times, but not for at least a year or so. The quality of pretty much everything has gone up tremendously and, even though we were dealing with Fall for Greenville traffic, the whole experience was excellent. Two thumbs way up!
We were staying in town visiting our college age daughter, and celebrating her 21 birthday a few days early. Loved the look of the restaurant and those great, huge, open windows. We lucked out and got a table right by the window that was perfect for people watching, as it was Fall Crawl. Because of Fall Crawl, the upstairs bar was incredibly loud...but maybe it always is that way. Wasn't bad, just not a quiet conversation kind of place. Two of us ordered the blackened mahi mahi with cheesy polenta and Brussel sprouts which was the special of the day, and the other had the chicken fil-ay sandwich. The chicken fil-ay sandwich and fries got a big thumbs up! My mahi was fabulous. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. I am not a fan of Brussel sprouts so it would be unfair to blame them being "blah" on the restaurant, but the cheesy polenta could have had more flavor and it kind of took on the consistency of playdough as it cooled. However, the Mahi was so good that all of that is forgiven. Big points for bringing my daughter a complimentary dessert (the blueberry pie with ice cream). Our server was friendly and attentive without going overboard too. All in all, I would say we would come back another time.
We were visiting Greenville for a weekend with the in-laws. Nose Dive was highly rated as it should be! We all had a wonderful experience, the server ( and unfortunately his name escapes me) had wonderful recommendations and a positive attitude it definitely made the experience. Next time we are in Greenville we will be back!
