The lighting was too low and hard to read the menu
Truly mediocre food. So disappointing after reading good reviews. How does overcomes flavorless food pass as high end cooking out here? Waiter ignored our appetizer order. Tried to bring us the wrong wine. The fish was totally overcooked. The meatballs were tough and had weird flavor. Pasta over cooked. The lamb shank was tasteless like it was braised in water - no seasoning nor herbs nor anything flavorful at all. Julienned vegetables steamed and over cooked and flavorless, like a bad 1970s idea of good cuisine. Really just such a shame, it’s so easy to properly season and cook good ingredients...
My wife and I are long time fans. The serve the best trout in Colorado; consistently offering the best quality food at fair prices in the Valley. Jim is a unique owner who walks the floor and talks to all the patrons. I recently left my phone on the table and called it 30 minutes later, Steve was safeguarding it and even dropped it off in Edwards at the end of shift to save me a trip!
We both had our regular orders...don't mess with perfection!
I had the tomato soup with roasted red peppers ...it was delicious! Also the Halibut, was very good, and had a great flavor. Although the halibut was great, I preferred it more the last time I had it when it had more of a broth which made the fish not as dry. We also had the chicken fried filet and a Caesar salad....which was also very good. We had the same waiter as last time who is excellent...although it seemed to take a while to get our drinks from the bar. We love Northside for good food and service at a great price.
Our waiter was friendly, informative and attentive. The filet mignon and the trout were both excellent. The kitchen was efficient and food presentation was very professional.
They should stick to brunch. Dinner is mediocre at best
Had a great dinner. Steaks were perfect
Vacation - food was fantastic! Would recommend. Here on vacation. Really good egg rolls and filet!
we had friends from Austria with us and they enjoyed the Tuna Tartar and the Prime Rib very much and so did we. Thank you very much we had a wonderful last meal and a very nice last evening with them.
One of the best restaurants in the Avon and Edwards Colorado areas.
There were multiple large groups who were so loud it make regular conversation impossible. The filet was great and cooked perfectly, however the sweet potato mash tasted like baby food, no texture. We love this place however the noise was unbearable and it will likely be a while before we visit again due to this.
Happy hour and prix fix dinner deal was a real winner. Great wine list and single glass selections. Exceeded our expectations. We’ll be back.
We had a great experience. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. Food was fast and well prepared. Not too busy and great value for price.
Food and service was excellent. Will definitely go back next time we are in town.
We REALLY wanted to like this more than we did but it was a mess from start to finish. The host (owner?) sat us quickly but amid a running commentary about all the people who have reservations showing up all at once (isn’t that how reservations work?) and how he didn’t understand how OpenTable booked so many at 6:30P and 7:00P (again, don’t you have control over that). Once seated, it took quite a bit before we had a server show up. She seemed to try hard to provide good service but it didn’t seem like that was really possible. The food was just OK. My date had overcooked halibut and I a duck dish that had some decent flavor but the components didn’t hang together at all. The fact that the restaurant was busy shouldn’t make for poorly executed dishes, either. It’s a Saturday in a busy ski town. That is presumably a good thing for a restaurant. The topper was the checks being delivered to the wrong tables after running credit cards and having to figure that out with another party since the server was busy with her other tables. Overall, a bummer of a dining experience. Hope they can figure it out because there’s certainly lots of potential.
THE MOST PATHETIC MEAL EVER! Fifty minutes before we were recognized by a server. Three hours later, after a one course meal for six, we waited thirty minutes just for the opportunity to pay our tab. The food was less than mediocre.
DO NOT GO HERE!!
Excellent service. Friendly and courteous ownership. Good food and large portions. Great value.
Great place off the path. Owner was on site and friendly.
Outstanding restaurant. great ambiance. Fish, steak, drinks, desserts... all exceptional. Will be back
Service was terrible. Food was decent but overpriced for the quality.
Tracy was wonderful, the food got out fast, prices are reasonable and the donuts are wonderful (free with dinner).
This restaurant will surprise some...... casual, with a bar that sells wonderful donuts, but also white table cloths at dinner and delicious food. Not just comfort food but delicious fish. Nice service people and the other side of the restaurant is very casual, burgers and pizza so something for everyone. I know, a bit confusing but this restaurant has something for everyone.
A group of us (5 one time, 3 the next) had two meals at the Northside Kitchen. The positive: the food is very good. I can recommend the 3 course meal, which is quite a bargain at $39.95. I can recommend the trout, the caesar salad, the french onion soup, and the chicken fried filet mignon. I'm told the prime rib was good. The wine program is excellent, with many top-notch wines by the glass at fair prices. The service is, however, inconsistent. Our first night was excellent - friendly and spot-on. He handled the five of us very smoothly and well. Our second night the main course arrived within minutes of the appetizer (none of us were close to finished), the wrong wine was served, and the wrong price was charged on the bill for the supplements (two entrees were above the usual $39.95, which was fairly stated on the menu but a different price charged). And while we were leaving, someone came to the manager and said they'd been there for 45 minutes and no drinks had been served. In short, the front of the house needs serious improvement. I can recommend the food, and if you get our waiter from the first night, you'll be more than fine.
We have dined at this restaurant many times and are always very satisfied. We enjoy the ambiance, the wines, and particularly the food and great menu items.
We cannot recommend this restaurant enough, it is a great place!!
Service, waiter were great
Prime rib very good
Why does the owner walk around smililing
He should eat the Caesar
They might have staff tastings to prevent such bad food
Spoils what was otherwise a good evening
Northside Kitchen fits a niche in Vail Valley - solid food, great wine list, and for the Valley, reasonably priced. It was a quiet night when we were there, which was surprising as it was ski season. Don't know how loud it is when full, but it was really a nice night for our family with older teenagers. Appetizers were tasty and portioned as an appetizer; not so filling you're half-full when dinner arrives. Desserts (shared) were delicious.
Great place great service will return next time in area. We called and they said they were booked until 9 pm we then went on open table and got our reservation at 7. They should have been able to accommodate with the phone call.
Waiter was not on top of things...
Our table was beside the door. It was so cold every time the door opened it was hard to enjoy our meal. Halibut overdone otherwise everything was very good. A bit on the pricey side. Waiter was great.
Excellent service. Food was fantastic. Pleasurable experience with the family of five.
Great food and service !
Great local place in the area. Sat next to the kitchen, so it was a bit noisy. We had to wait a bit even though we had a reservation, but our waiter was amazing and the food was good
We think this is the best restaurant in the Valley. We have eaten there often and the owner is there probably 80% of the time and he goes to the tables and talks to the customers. It is welcoming, the food is delicious and varied and the bakery is great.
Great. Wait staff Brent fabulous
6 of us dined for dinner. One dish was good... the gnocchi. Everything else was terrible quality and taste.
My husband and I went for nice dinner after hectic ness of New Years. Tracy our server was great but had many tables to wait on. Very friendly and conscientious. Food was good. New addition is very chilly and our table was squished in in the opening between new and old. Felt like a walkway.
Tracey was our waitress, very helpful with menu descriptions. A busy place New Years Eve yet our entrees were served in a timely fashion and the plate presentation was spot on. Great value, portions were good.
Great food as always. The newer terrace area was a treat as it was a bit quieter than the main restaurant.
Very disappointed. High priced, and the food was mediocre to poor. The staff was nice and tried to make it better, but at the end of the day the food quality did not deliver.....
