About North Shore Kula Grille (fka Kula Grille at Turtle Bay)
The ancient Hawaiians divided their land into three sections: Mauka, kula and makai – or mountains, midland and the sea – known as ahupua ‘a. It is the kula lands, primarily used for agriculture, that now serve as the inspiration for the North Shore Kula Grille.
Welcome to a place where farm-to-table thinking is behind every ingredient on our menu. Where fresh means seasonal produce picked just a few minutes away; where seafood is sourced daily from local waters; and where premium meats and poultry are raised with the utmost care on small-scale Hawaii farms and ranches.
At the North Shore Kula Grille you can explore the flavors of our islands as they have been enjoyed for centuries – naturally, with organic artisan farming and harvesting practices, showcasing the rich agricultural history of Hawaii and the North Shore in every dish.

North Shore Kula Grille (fka Kula Grille at Turtle Bay) Ratings and Reviews
The dinner I had at Kula Grille was fabulous. It was the catch of the day, mahi mahi. Deliciously prepared and beautifully presented. Because of this dinner experience, I gave the breakfast buffet a try on a Saturday morning. Dinner was lovely, but the breakfast buffet was definitely NOT worth the price tag. The employees were all wonderful, but the offerings were not worth $31 plus tax and tip. Stick to lunch, dinner, or breakfast from the menu and skip the buffet.
OUr service was great, but the food was disappointing, especially considering the price tag. The menu sounded wonderful, but just fell short. My steak wasn’t well seasoned and didn’t really have anything to it, and the pork medallions were a strange taste combination.
Food was terrible. Shrimp was dried out and vegetables were limp and so sickly sweet none of us ate them. Prices were absurd for basically a horrific dining experience. Service was nice, but certainly not professional. We also had breakfast and it was equally breathtakingly bad. I had eggs Benedict and the sauce was out of a can. There are no other breakfast options at this resort or we wouldn’t have ventured back in. Took 2 bites and left it. We also were given “”discount breakfast buffet” coupons upon checking in for $34.95 p/p. The menu price for the breakfast buffet was $30. WTH?? We
I have had excellent seafood here before; this time I had a steak, beef filet, and it was very good beef (locally sourced on Oahu according to the menu) perfectly cooked. The wine selection by the glass is good, the service is excellent, and the ocean view is beautiful.
If you have other options to dine while your staying at the Turtle Bay resort, I highly suggest doing that. This restaurant is not at all what it pretends to be. It's large and has a decent view but that's where it ends. The service was horrible. What we ordered is not what we received. Our server didn't listen to anything that we said and some other version of what we order came out. They fixed it but the flavor was so bad we refused it and went home. The space is depressing which you would think is almost impossible in the setting it's in but it's a dead, cafeteria like environment. Sad place in a very happy area.
We live on the island of Oahu. It is a shame that due to location and circumstance anybody would be forced to eat at Kula Grill. Maybe they had a bad night, maybe the chef called in sick, but I doubt it. They may be able to "con" the tourists that this is good local Hawaiian food, but a ten minute drive in either direction would provide better cuisine.
Horrible place, horrible service, and horrible prices.
If you go to Turtle Bay, avoid Kula Grill.
I have to say i had high expectations, but was disappointed. The menu was not very detailed. For instance my meal said Crunchy garlic shrimp with jasmine rice and grilled veggies. When I got my plate the veggies were chopped pretty small and I couldn't even tell what they were because they were swimming in some kind of dark spicy sauce. The shrimp were not peeled so it was kinda messy. The jasmine rice...well let's just say I make better jasmine rice on my stove at home.
My 8 year old had the Keiki spaghetti and she loved it, but her tiny piece of garlic bread was burnt and inedible. My husband and 13 year old both ordered steak, and they said it was ok.
Loved it, and our waiter was amazing! Her name was Donna I think? She ran to another bar to get me a drink I requested which was absolutely so nice of her. She was also patient with us, and explained the menu great. The scenery was beautiful. It was a good date night and memorable weekend
Our server was clearly working hard but service was slow and we waited a long time between every course and with every drink order. I think she wasn't getting the support she needed from her crew for the number of tables they assigned to her. The view is great, the food is just good. Our server was kind enough to recognize the long wait we had for our dessert, so she took it off our bill, which was much appreciated. Overall, this is a place you go for the view.
We ate at Kula Grille on our last night of vacation in Oahu. The view was wonderful, and we arrived just in time to watch the sunset. We stepped otside to get a good look and restaurant employees offered to take our pictures with multiple cameras! We all enjoyed our dinners, and I think the North Shore Herb salad was amazing. There wasn't a huge selection, but there were 7 of us, and we each had something different and really liked all of it. It is not a cheap restaurant, but definitely worth it for a special occassion or vacation treat. Also, there is plenty of parking even if you're not staying at the Turtle Beach Resort.
We requested an outdoor table so that we could watch the sunset following our wedding ceremony. The staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable of our event upon our arrival. It was nice to feel that our special event was shared by the staff. Excellent experience.
The service was not the greatest. Seems the staff caters to tourists more than locals but it did not ruin the experience. The food was great and the atmosphere is relaxed yet on the refined side. Live music would have added a great touch to this night. Thank you for a great Valentine's dinner experience!
We went for the Valentines 2017 buffet with our 8 year old daughter. My husband thought it was the best buffet he'd ever been to but I should mention that the seafood puts it over the top; not a lot of buffets on the mainland have unlimited crab and scallops. The server was very attentive to our needs. Management called me earlier in the day about what our daughter would want as the price wasn't necessarily condusive to an 8 year old's consumption. I just suggested a regular chicken meal with some veggies but when we got there and saw their mac and cheese in the buffet (amazing by the way) we settled on that then she got to choose a few things from the rest of the buffet and have chocolate fountain and they charged us a minimal amount. It was a very nice treat for Valentines day, we would have stayed longer but our campsite gates were locking early for the evening.
