North Shore Grill Ratings and Reviews
This buffet sounded to good to be true. It totally was. $25.95 Land and Sea Buffet.
First of all the food was served in throw away tin pans. The "beef" was the toughest most over done "beef" I have every seen.
On the plus side. Snow crab and Garlic Steamed Littleneck Clams were delicious.
went on New years eve for their crab leg buffet
Patrons were limited to 1.5 hours at table per reservation but were told by the rude hostess to vacate the table after an hour. When questioned about time listed she stated it was wrong and each party only had an hour at the table
Buffet line was long and had to wait for plates to be refilled and buffet items such as the crab, mussels and clams to be refilled.
"Open Table" did not communicate my on-line reservations for New Years Eve at the North Shore. Can you imagine my shock, and embarrassment when Carrie, at the receiving desk
told me she had no record of my reservation.
Realizing the spirit of the occasion, and the miscue by "Open Table", Carrie accommodated us
at a "high table" next to the bar. We are grateful for Carrie's special attentions at such a busy time!
I will NOT use open table in the future! I will call for reservations.
First the girls were dressed more for a club than a "fine dining" establishment. The buffet was very messy and the food was over cooked and was not kept replenished. We went for Christmas Eve a couple of years ago and it was good. This time was no better than a chain buffet reataurant. We had to get our own utensils and creamer. Based on this experience we will NOT return.
Four out of five of us eating at North Shore ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. We all agreed that it was too salty, so much so that some couldn't eat it all. When we shared this with our server, he just said "sorry." Probably will not go back there again. Our previous dining experience (in July) was not good either.
Was contacted as previous customer to attend the appreciation night. Never enough appetizers to try. People were filling their plates. Should have been served. Dinner not good. Hamburgers well done vs request for medium rare, side portion very small. Friend ordered a salad with salad greens and chicken. She mentioned that she would prefer not to have any iceberg lettuce. She received a dish with majority of iceberg lettuce and WITHOUT any chicken. Music VERY LOUD. Unable to hear each other or waitress. Waitress not attentive to our table.
Even though we had a reservation for 8 people we had to wait 30 min for a table because we added 1 person...the restaurant was EMPTY! And now I know why. 1 1/2 hrs for our appetizers, over 2 hours for our meals and then 2 of them were inedible. The rest ranged from bad to unremarkable. The waiter never checked on us to see if we needed refills on drinks or bread(without butter). He knew it was bad so he didn't want to see us. Horrible experience which is a shame because it's a great location and has a nice outside bar.
The view was amazing overlooking the water. The live band came on around 7pm, they played Caribbean music. The genre of music was perfect for the setting. However the volume of the instruments were loud. The fire pit was absolutely beautiful once the roaring flames and flying paper debris subsided. The presentation of the food was wonderful! The meat was warm upon arrival and the vegetables were COLD! The waitress was vey apologetic and took the food back to the kitchen, once the plates returned, the meat and the vegetables were COLD! The manager came to explain that the burners that keep the vegetables warm was OUT! She offered a free drink to compensate or free desert on the house.
But don't know how to hold a reservation. I made my reservation (through open table) a week and a half ahead of the dinner. We get there and are told their will still be a 20-30 minute wait for an outdoor table. Even though I had requested that in the reservation. Once we got seated everything was great - except they forgot the bread. A minor thing, but I was hungry! STil, we'll be back.
Loved our view over the lake. But waiting for our drinks and waiter was long especially for a 9 pm reservation. Food was liked by some but not others in our party. Chicken was blackened to bitter side even threw sauce (sauce was great) . Bill had issues and waiter was not helpful but manager was great about fixing it.
Ordered steamed clams but was served mussels, was so sleep deprived that I didn't realize it until later. Had to flag down the waitress to get water during the meal.
The food was very good, however, and the lake view is beautiful.
My son had the mahi mahi and it looked great.
Service was extremely poor. Due to a "mix-up" with the buzzer/waitlist system, we were not seated until over an hour after our reservation time. We then did not receive our dinners until well over an hour after that. Upon inquiring, the owner very rudely informed us that our 2+ hour wait was typical because the North Shore Grill was "the only game in town." Certainly would not recommend and will not be returning.
My husband and I have been to North Shore once before. We had an excellent meal and good service. However, this was a special occasion and we were totally disappointed. My steak was overcooked and the waitress did not return to the table for at least 15 minutes to ask about our food. Shortly after that my husband found a fairly large piece of paper in with his food. When we finally found our waitress she said it was a butter wrapper that must have gotten in with the mashed potatoes. They did take a some money off of our total bill. But all in all we were very disappointed in the food and the service.
Our server Caitlin was very nice and personable. She made us feel very much at ease. The timing of our appetizers, salads/soups, meals was perfect. We had enough time for each without feeling rushed or waiting too long. I would recommend the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer...there was enough for two!! I had the Mahi-Mahi with Maitre D' Butter which was out of this world...my companions each had the T-Bone Steak which they both commented was fantastic!! I would recommend the North Shore Grill to anyone who is looking for a casual place to have a really nice dinner. I thought the price was very reasonable also!!
Outside reservations are not taken so we settled on high top tables close to windows with view of Conesus Lake. Tables were also very near doors to outside and were constantly being used by both patrons and staff. The frustrating part was our waiter walked past us many times but did not ask if we'd like refills other than one time near the end of our meal. The waiter apologized for the slow service saying the kitchen was "bombed". My wife's prime rib was overcooked yet managed to arrive lukewarm at best. Similar temperature problem with my mahi-mahi. Nicely done but not much better than room temperature. I suspect they dishes sat for a while before being delivered to the table. Green beans were small and lacked a pleasing presentation.
We had a wonderful summer birthday celebration for my husband and his mom. The weather was perfect! We dined outside while watching the boats go by on Conesus Lake. The food was delicious and the music was heard but not loud. Service was friendly and attentive. I definitely plan on going back!
I was looking forward to a nice meal on the lake however my experience was disappointing to say the least. The food quality was not nearly worth the price and the wait time for our meal was over 45 minutes for 2 entrées. I will not be returning to the north shore grill nor will I be recommending it to others
Our table was ready on time but the restaurant was empty and we were placed at a table for 6 right under 3 air conditioning vents and so close to the band we could reach out and touch the singer. We requested to be moved and the hostess hesitated telling us the other table for 6 was just as cold. She also explained that if she changed the temperature on the a/c that ice would form on the floor, which made absolutely no sense to us since we were asking for it to be warmer not colder. She was unfriendly and never demonstrated that she was interested in pleasing us in any way. When we insisted, we were finally moved. The temperature there was much better as there were no direct vents over our table and we were able to talk. The table for 6 where we were first seated did not get used until we were well into our meal. Other patrons went out to their cars to get sweaters and coats because it was sol cold in there. When our food arrived, it was cold. We were disappointed as we make this a yearly event but will think twice about it for next year. Our server was very nice, friendly, and tried to accommodate our requests.
Liked the location, friendly staff, and, menu choices……food was very tasty but the presentation was poor in that everything was piled up and you could not tell what was what…..for $100 + there should be some style…..felt like the kitchen was unprepared to do an upscale delivery……this could be a premium restaurant with a little effort…….the bar service was very good and so was the NYS wine selection…..maybe this was early in the season and things will improve with increased business….need to put the first team into the kitchen.
Our group ordered a chicken pasta, a swordfish , and a mahi mahi entree. All were very well done! Beautiful presentation and delicious. Portion size was about right. Weather was questionable so we ate inside. Beautiful decor inside. Service was excellent. Very enjoyable experience!
Great food all around, although a bit pricy. The server was very pleasant and did his best to placate us. However, we were there from 6:45 to 9pm. Our entrees (&bread) didn't arrive until the last twenty minutes. View, decor and atmosphere were nice, but the waiting time/kitchen was abysmal. The server did his best, but the waiting time of two hours for dinner will likely prevent us from going back
This is a wonderful restaurant previously unknown to us. My grilled salmon was perfectly prepared and my husband really liked his prime rib (altho be prepared for "medium rare" to be pretty rare). The caesar salad was tasty and not overwhelmed with dressing and croutons. And finally, the key lime pie was delicious.
Waited 45 minutes for our meal despite restaurant being very quiet. Meal was sub-par, particularly given the $25 price tag. Green beans served were from a can and were so overcooked they turned brown. Wrong seasoning was sent out on fish that was ordered which resulted in an allergic reaction. Incredibly disappointing experience 2 out of my 3 visits. I wont go back.
been here twice in 2 weeks. Both times were absolutely fantastic. fast and feiendly service. Consistent checkups on our status throughout the meal. Water and drink refills. The food is outstanding. I highly recommend their fish dishes, the mahi mahi was great!
It was the 3rd time we went to the restaurant for dinner. Both of our children are SUNY Geneseo students so we came to visit them and treated them with the special dinner. This last visit was for my wife Birthday dinner and we enjoyed the meal very much. Our son whom is very picky enjoyed Swordfish Steak and loved Artichoke hearts. Everything on our plates complimented each other. what an art of cooking !
The food here was very good, not outstanding, but good. The menu was not the same as the website so we were disappointed to find that a couple of things we were planning to try were no longer served. my salad came out with the wrong dressing and the waiter was very nice, and offered to switch it. Steak over cooked. Overall lok.
