The casual ambiance was a nice change from other starred restaurants. The service was low key yet professional in every respect. The manager even gave us an umbrella when we left due to unexpected downpour with no expectation of receiving it back.
Like a dream! The staff was outstanding - really accommodating with our special dietary needs, timing was perfect and they were just lovely people.
Every bite of the food was excellent - beyond excellent. This is the best dining experience I have had in years.
Grateful for a lovely night in a magical setting.
Tasting menu was wonderful! Service and location were just as amazing!
A wonderful experience. Food, fabulous. Service. attentive. Great setting.
The service was ok, the food(5 courses) literally took 2 and a half hours to come (in total). The food flavor/quality was average. The best aspect of everything is the wine and the desserts, other than that the rest was way overpriced for the quality. The most important thing they need to fix is the how they deliver the cutlery, they literally put it on top of the table without anything below it, I was sitting on the outside and they would literally put my utensils on the metal table. I used my napkin below them and requested a second one for myself.
Wonderful original meals with a very unexpectedly original wine pairing. That did not compete with the food and enhanced the experience
My significant other treated me in celebration of a work milestone. I did not read reviews in advance in favor of relishing the experience in the moment, which lended to the overall experience.
A meal at North Pond is always special—food, service, atmosphere, setting. Our service this time was especially wonderful, with the nicest principal server in the world and other extremely attentive but unobtrusive staff members. And the food was delicious, and beautifully presented, as always. Also the coffee was really good! The only slight imperfection, which I hate to mention because everything else was perfection, was the juice. The Orange juice was definitely not fresh-squeezed, and both that and the grapefruit juice tasted like some sort of juice drink and not pure juice. This could easily be solved by just sourcing it from Mariano’s. I am still giving North Pond a five-star rating.
Great experience! The food was AMAZING and We loved the way they designed each course of the meal. Great place to take your special someone for a special occasion !
Great service. Wonderful knowledgeable waitress
This is a world-class restaurant. The $95 prefix with the $56 wine flight is definitely well worth it. Started with the mussel, then foie gras then cod. The beef entre looked tasty too. Just enough food, a feast for the senses, and a beautiful setting.
The food was absolutely delicious. The service at the beginning when we first got seated it seemed we waited for a bit but after that they were supper attentive. Great experience!
Wait staff all were in a great hurry to clear after every course while some guests in our party of four were still eating. And we were not slow. Felt rushed.
Food and service excellent!
Great food in a quiet comfortable setting. Service was top notch and friendly.
They personalized the menu for our anniversary, which was a lovely touch. Had a chance to interact with the chef too. The food and ambiance were perfect.
We love North Pond - food is always unique and well executed! Staff are amazing! (Truly Peachy) Three courses always leave you with something new and delicious
Brunch was really tasty and they gave me an extra course!
This is my favorite restaurant in all of Chicago. Never a bad experience.
super knowledgeable bar tender!!
nice variety of wines
A special night and a tasting menu that was just enough, and not too much. Unusual flavor combinations that were wonderful and unexpected.
Phenomenal. Every bite was amazing. Service impeccable. Knowledgeable server who explained the perfectly matched wines. High-end experience without being snobby. Not sure why we waited so long to dine at North Pond. We will be back!
North Pond is our favorite place to celebrate …. pretty much anything. It has it all — style, class, warmth, and sensational food.
Amazing combination of flavors and textures in each course. Great service and super special meal!
Chef Cesar, Loretta, Steven and team were wonderful. From the amuse bouche to the caramels at the end…this meal was outstanding.
Just outstanding food and service
Everything done extremely well, from service to cuisine.
Visiting Chicago for first time; celebrating birthday month/weekend getaway. Excellent restaurant north of loop in park setting. Peaceful, relaxing environment. Excellent food & service enjoyed our evening.
We visited North Pond for our anniversary, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier and more accommodating. The food itself was fresh and delicious, and the staff did an excellent job in explaining the origins of everything we ate. We would definitely recommend North Pond for a special occasion.
Ambience: North Pond is located at the north end of North Pond, a small restored pond just north of Lincoln Park Zoo. As such, there is a great skyline view of downtown Chicago, framed by the pond itself and surrounding greenery. The patio seating (seven tables set in front of the floor to ceiling doors of the building) offer the best views. We live a short walk from North Pond, and often walk past the restaurant on our way to the Lakefront Trail, so we knew full well there would be a good bit of pedestrian traffic pretty much all night.
Food: We began with a cocktail, each of us happened to order a different one. All were well received. The four course tasting menu has three choices per course. We also opted for the wine pairing, one glass per course. The meal began with a small potato roll with butter, followed by an amuse bouche of trout roe and shaved vegetables. Both excellent. All three of us selected the carrot and mussels for our first course - I'd only had steamed mussels in the shell but this was more of a salad. The mussels were pre-shelled and chilled. Very refreshing. For the second course I had the foie gras while wife and niece went with sea scallop and corn. The foie gras was fine, but the scallop was very good (wife was kind enough to give me a bite); very buttery and cooked perfectly. We all selected dry aged beef strip loin for our main course, and no one was disappointed.A square of cornbread from the pastry chef preceded the dessert; I went with a cheese plate, while wife and niece both selected the chocolate and passion fruit marzipan. The ladies won the round once again. Lastly, we were presented with a plate of confections, as we were celebrating a birthday.
Service: The service was outstanding. The meal was very well paced from start to finish; we never felt rushed or felt we were forgotten. The servers provided a brief explanation of each dish and of each wine, and happily answered any questions we had.
The food outstanding. Wine list very good. Location kind of hard to get to with an uber driver, but we made it. Dress code says business casual, but shorts all over the place. definitely go for the food, small portions but lots of them.
It was a wonderful experience and I hope I will be back soon. Meanwhile, I will tell all my friends who go to Chicago not to miss dining at North Pond.
This is a very nice place for celebrating a special occasion. The food is outstanding and looked like a work of art on your plate. Also, the service was attentive. I loved the way the waitress described each dish and the wine that went with each course. I recommend asking for a table in the indoor patio section, which has a view of the pond and then the City. Love, love!!
I spent my birthday dinner at North Pond and it did not disappoint. We ordered the chef’s tasting menu, they printed my name on our menus, and wrapped it in a specialty envelope at the end of our meal; which added a level of special attention that was very touching. The meal was spectacular only made better by the service of the staff. We were catered to and when I visit Chicago again, I’ll have to pay North Pond a visit.
We were celebrating our anniversary anD The Beginning of empty nesting 😜🎉This was one of the best of not the Best culinary experience I ever had. The creativity, flavors of all the plates was impressive. The Wine pairing was exceptional;really harmonizing with each plate.’ The service and attention was Amazing. Lastly the beautiful surroundings Max the experience more amazing. My reservation was at 8:00pm perfect time to take some incredible pictures. Thanks for making our special night happy even BETTER.
Amazing combination of flavors. A wonderful meal.
Jeffrey took great care of us and the food was everything we wanted.
One of the best meals ever. Attentive staff kept water filled, and food and beverages flowing. Another great experience, and even got a course served by the new chef. Classy place!
