North Italia – Tucson Ratings and Reviews
Always tasty. Great Italian food and nice portions. They do separate checks for groups. Lots of free refills on soft drinks. Great service. Fresh food.
Inside is noisy -- all hard surfaces, but not that noisy
Outside is lovely
Favorite dish -- short ribs radicatore
Food took a very very long time to arrive. Manager had to
Come and apologize. We ordered a happy hour pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. Nothing too complex. Ambiance is lovely. Patio is very comfortable and nice. Eating inside can get very loud so we prefer outdoor seating always.
Return visit a hit!
We hadn’t been to North for several years because we don’t like how noisy it is, but this time the weather was perfect so we sat outside. What a lovely patio! Our server, Chase, was top notch. Our drinks, the Quiet Italian Gentleman, were tasty. We requested they be served up rather than on the rocks as they usually are served. No problem. The Pig pizza and pasta with bolognese sauce were delicious. The pizza had a very crisp crust. The pasta was very rich. We won’t wait so long to go back!
I have been to North before and was very impressed with the food. This visit, the salad was very good but I found the entree not as good as I had before. The pasta was cold and there was not very much chicken or greens in it as I remembered . It was mostly pasta. My friend enjoyed her entree very much. I also found the prices much too high for lunch.
Our dining experience was disappointing as it took almost an hour to get our main entre. This always seems to be the case lately. The manager did treat us to a chef's board because we were on a date night, however, it was still disappointing to have to sit and wait for the main entre. Also, when we were served, the pasta dish was very dry. However, at that point we didn't want to wait for a redo. There was also a server change and we were not advised about the change. At one point we wondered who was actually helping us. For the price of our meal - very disappointing. We will not be returning anytime soon.
I made a reservation for two several weeks in advance. Upon getting to the restaurant, I checked in with the hostess and explained that we had a reservation and she said we'd be seated in just a moment. We waited for nearly twenty minutes before being seated at a table next to a family (parents with their adult child) having an extremely loud and profane argument that lasted for our entire meal. The food was delicious and our waitress was wonderful (and even comped our dessert due to family next to us) but to be honest, the long wait despite our reservation and the screaming next to us really put a damper on the whole experience.
I would have told the people next to us to pipe down but they seriously looked like they were on the verge of having a family fist fight and I figured if I said anything it would only cause an even bigger scene. I wish the North staff had simply kicked them out. If you want to have a screaming match with your loved ones, you can do it at home.
We were visiting for family weekend at University of Arizona. Melissa was our waitress and Angie the manager. This is the best Italian restaurant we have ever been at. Once we walked in, we were greeted with this awesome atmosphere! The restaurant looked fabulous. Then we were greeted by Angie and Melissa and they both took care of us! They were an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10! So courteous and respectful and their recommendations on appetizers, main courses, wines, and desserts were perfect!!! We loved it and cannot wait to return to Tucson and come again. Our son, Alec, is bringing his visiting friend next weekend here. He already has the reservation. What an awesome nite!!!!
Our reservation was at 9pm....arrived promptly....we were seated at 9:35. Our table consisted of two round double tops pushed together and crammed on the patio. Waiter arrived around 9:45 and brought drinks at 9:55....we ordered then and didnt see our food until 10:55! The food was cold and the waiter apologized that it was Parents night at the local university and they were overwhelmed. I suggest a new Manager who can handle a crowded evening....they comped our dinner but hardly worth the effort. For the record there were numerous disgruntled tables around us suffering from the same lack of attention. Oh, I forgot that for all subsequent wine glasses I had to order directly from the bar because our waiter was MIA for at least an hour.
Beautiful, comfortable decor. I love the touches of red, especially the grill hood and prosciutto slicer.
It can be noisy, so I suggest you sit next to each other on a date or dinner with a friend, instead of across from each other.
One of my favorite restaurants in metropolitan Tucson.
