North Italia – Tucson Ratings and Reviews
As always server was friendly, knowledgeable on menu, and very helpful explaining how items on menu are made and with what ingredients. The entertainment is good and is not at a level that you cannot hear the people you are talking to. Always a pleasure to go there.
Excellent service. Wait staff knows the menu, gives good info and feedback. Service was prompt. We were there for brunch and tried their special of the day which was a tomato, basil caprese omelette. Tasty, cheesy and not at all dry. Came with smashed potatoes which were a bit overcooked. Ordered a side of their apple wood bacon and definitely overcooked and way to crunchy and because of that couldnt taste the applewood. Desert was the best - bombolini and affogato!
North Italia is one of the four restaurants at which we regularly dine because we love their food, service, and ambiance. I am vegan and gluten free, but am always able to find at least a dish or two that fits my dietary restrictions. No problems with North!
Great find out in Tucson. Reminds me of meals my wife and I had out in Italy enjoying the scenery and tasting all the great food. The patio is an amazing find and plenty of spots. Aside from a couple noisy teenagers a couple tables down, it was one of the best restaurant finds we had. The good is definitely fresh and authentic, the chef’s board will give you food envy if you don’t get it, and even kids meals are perfect proportions and flavored. It definitely brings a warm, cozy feeling sitting out on the patio and with the Tucson weather I imagine it’s a great place to sit at all times of day (they have heaters out there if you get cold). All in all, five stars in my book and with a waitstaff that is extremely enjoyable and attentive it will definitely be a spot to return to!
Loud, terrible food, inexperienced wait staff, slow service. We normally like North but, this was a poor experience. We made the mst if it and had fun but it was a waste. My mussels were like pebbles in a shell covered in a weird salami, the pizza was not good and that was a first!
The past two birthdays I have, coincidentally, had the delicious squid ink mafaldine at North, so this year it seemed like a tradition that had to happen. Fortunately, the dish tasted as absolutely fabulous as I remembered. The birthday dessert was the melt-on-your-tongue salted caramel budino, presented festively with a candle but thankfully no singing. Our server, Hunter, was efficient and attentive without being annoying and had conspired with my friends to split my tab, which he handled discreetly. And he let us relax and talk (and freshened our water) long after we were done with our meal. A good choice for a fun afternoon.
Called ahead of time and asked if they could accommodate my special needs of vegan and either soup or soft mashed potatoes or something blended (due to surgery) and they said, “ yes, we pride ourselves on making specialty dishes for dietary restrictions - and definitely since we aren’t too busy this afternoon!’
I take my sons for Christmas Eve lunch (2:15pm, as to miss the rush) and the waiter first says ‘we’ll come up with something for you’ and then returns to table and says ‘sorry’ the soup isn’t vegan and we don’t have mashed potatoes.. !!” So I ordered a bottle of Pellegrino and that was my Christmas Eve lunch!
Very disappointing - since I had called ahead!
I love North, took some friends who hadn't been there to celebrate my birthday, and they all loved it as well. Our waiter was terrific, our table was perfect, and the food was just GREAT. I will be back for sure, many times. I am never disappointed in that calamari appetizer with EXTRA arugula.
My favorite restaurant love the braised shortrib great happy hour always busy many good memories. Ask for Mundo or Ryan they my fav server. I always have the apricot lemonade cocktail and love the grilled artichokes appetizer the mussels are great too and dessert I love the Italian donuts or their Nutella special
I was astounded that despite being swamped with people outside waiting, they so quickly ascertained that we had reservations and seated us within minutes. I was totally impressed, as well, that with so very many people, the waitress assigned us returned after each serving to check on us. The Branzino (fish) was grilled to perfection! The tiramiso was b far the best I've tasted...the wine selection was perfect. This is easily our new favorite special restaurant.
Had a problem with being waited on but finally cornered a waiter who took our drink order. Then the manager came over, apologized and gave us a great appetizer. From then on everything was wonderful and both server and manager checked back frequently. Food was terrific and again all worked out.
