North Italia – Tucson Ratings and Reviews
Always the Best Brunch Place in Tucson, it's a favorite! The noise level was just a tad much but maybe because it was the holiday weekend? Best time is to be there right before noon if you're doing Brunch and recommended that you make reservations. The staff is always super courteous and helpful, plus you don't feel rushed during your meal.
Disappointed with a couple of things today. The pizza that was served to us was not hot it was Luke warm. I would have told the waitress but she asked me how our food was before we started eating the pizza then we didn’t see her again until we were finished eating.
We had annoying flies at our table which I told her about at the end, because when we first got our food they hadn’t appeared until we started eating.
Although the staff tried to make up for a bad beginning with some efforts, their overall effort fell very short.
We wanted a table inside, but nothing was available except high tops. Only regular tables were outside. With our Open Table reservation (I am not sure they really like you. ) We asked to be seated by a heater. We were not. Only after going to my car and getting a jacket and telling the hostess that we were not seated by a heater, we finally got one. Our server was nice, but after ordering cocktails and appetizers, we finished our appetizers before our drinks arrived. My spouse's entrée was overcooked and we told the server. The manager came and offered to cook it again and we said no because the dinner had gone on too long at that point. We haven't been to North in four years and decided to give it a chance to impress us. We won't be coming back and we will tell our friends about our very bad experience.
I love fish and so have orderer Bronzino each of the three times I have eaten at North. This time there were lass vegetables, less sauce and the fish was not as fresh or had been microwaved or something...the texture was mealy. Robert, as well, thought his scallop dish to be unremarkable. Maybe we were late for the kitchen in that we arrived at 8:45 on a Monday evening...
NoRth Italia is one our favorite restaurants in Tucson. Great food and excellent service. My wife is Italian and very picky about Italian food, but she loves NoRth. It is a little pricey, but well worth it. Vito, the manager ensures a well cooked, enjoyable meal.
Great brunch! Really enjoyed the great coffee! Our water was so responsive! We had the short rob hash, the beef was so tinder you could cut it with a fork. Very large portion, should have shared! This is a place that they would not charge to do so! Can’t really say enough about this place...loved it!
Once again early reservation poor seating. This has happened the last 5 times here. This is my opinion because it happens to us almost every where we go. The young attractive hostesses seam to not care much for seniors. On time and made to wait 10 minutes while they put our table together with 50 tables open and the one they chose for us was not touched, high traffic area, very tiny table for a big man, no room for food, and probably the least decent table in the restaurant. Over the next 40 minutes 5 more older couples were brought next to us and they all passed. It's the graying of America and we are no longer getting any respect because of our age.
North is a great place to eat. The service is always top-notch, the food is mouth-watering, and the ambience is fun-filled. Fresh ingredients and innovative combinations result in healthy and delicious entrees. It's always fun to watch the food preparation at the prep table and we enjoy being served by the knowledgeable wait staff.
We had a wonderful time with great service and fantastic food. We started with the burrata and would highly recommend it! We then had roasted chicken, short rib pasta and pesto pasta - all excellent! Only hiccup was wine we picked they were out of but they offered alternatives.
Tried North for Happy Hour on Sunday afternoon. Had several things going for it:
1] HH available on Sundays
2] Able to sit outside [and away from usual noise--a problem for North]
3] Three of us had a nice array of choices from HH menu [but a few more would be welcome]
4] Special bargain: meat/cheese board plus bottle of wine for $20
5] Good food, good service, lovely surroundings for a modest sum --about $15/pp.
Absolutely outstanding service—one of the most knowledgeable servers we have ever had. Really knew his food and beverages. The food was good though not outstanding, except for the kale salad which was wonderful. The squid ink pasta with seafood was not very hot and the chicken pesto pasta was oversauced and too lemony for my taste. Huge servings. We split the salad and only ate half of each main dish.
I have been a long time customer of North. That's why I selected it to be an surprise engagement celebration brunch for my daughter with my girlfriends....An ultimate disaster and an embarrassment!!!! I had secured a reservation and called ahead for a bottle of champagne to have at the table ready when we arrived which they did. However, upon our arrival, after 20 minutes of waiting, I had to get up from my seat and flag down a server asking who is our server? She approached our table and said no this wasn't her table (mind you our bottle of pre-ordered champagne, was waiting to be opened but she moved along without opening it) I was so tempted to just open the bottle myself! until finally "our" server arrived and asked if we were ready for champagne???? No apology for his 20+ minutes of delay....never introduced himself, but asked my daughter if he was getting an invitation to the wedding! Champagne poured. Waited and waited, and waited until he came back again to take an order. We ordered a board and a bottle of wine...waited, and waited for our board, until once again I had to approach a manager, when quickly the server came at the same time to tell me our ticket was lost and the order was not placed. Finally got the board, but waited, and waited for that bottle of wine in which I had to once again get up and ask the bartenders for our bottle! Finally got our bottle in and we ordered our meals. Upon arrival, one of my guest's dish selection was wrong. Because we had been there now 1 1/2 hours now, she took the incorrect dish. North did make it right by comping her meal. We never saw our server again throughout our meal. We all had empty waters and we were never offered another glass of wine. Mind you there was 6 of us with one bottle of wine in 1 1/2 hrs! Once again, I had to get up and ask someone to bring us our check. Once receiving it, had to wait another 15 minutes until he collected it. WORST SERVICE EVER! I was embarrassed!
Very lively, good food. Can get very busy. Service was slow which is understandable given the crowd. But I did not appreciate the lady manager’s hint of “finishing up” and pushing us out when we ourselves waited a while to get served! Not nice.
You should be nicer to your customers.
Eccellente! We dined at North for our son's 21st birthday. We sat outside around a fire pit (inside was noisy and outside was not...we just heard a singer at another restaurant with his guitar, but we could all hear each other). The service was terrific! The food was delicious. We ordered the calamari appetizer, which came on top of a delicious salad and the prosciutto pizza for the table. My husband and I split the seasonal salad, which had squash, cauliflower, dates, faro, kale, radicchio, pecorino cheese and pistachios with a really nice vinaigrette. One son ordered, the chicken parmesan (I didn't taste it , but he thought it was great), the other ordered the pesto pasta, which I did taste and it was lovely (the pesto was really done well...not too heavy). My husband ordered the pasta bolognese and he didn't leave a drop and I ordered the scallops, which came on top of risotto, which surprisingly was not overcooked. We ordered a trio of deserts, I loved the hazelnut torta. I didn't care for the tiramisu which was more like a pudding than a tiramisu or the bombolini, but the guys didn't leave a drop of the latter. I am now craving that seasonal salad today...and did I mention that the service was terrific.
