North Italia – Kierland Commons Ratings and Reviews
I was very disappointed in the chicken salad. The lettuce was drenched in dressing and the lettuce was not fresh. Usually, that salad is very good, but this was almost not edible. I did not say anything to the server but after years of visiting this restaurant, I am not going back. Quality control not evident.
Waitress was great and attentive.
Buss boy was amazing as we were sitting on the outside patio and he noticed that someone was standing close by and smoking. He went over on his own accord and asked them to please step away from the close proximity of the patio. We had not even asked him to do so, but we’re so pleased that he did that as we were annoyed that someone was smoking right there. Bravo to the bus man 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 much appreciated.
Did not have the bottle of wine we ordered. Said they did not have the gin or vodka we ordered. Then informed us they were mostly beer and wine. Limited bar. C So loud we could not hear the waitress at first. Food was average at best. Cannot believe this is a Fox operation.
The food and service were good, although salmon could have been cooked a bit less (normally it is not cooked all the way through as that dries it out). We were happy we had a reservation because the place was very busy (Friday night at 6:45). The noise level was such that it was difficult to hear one another at our table of 4. Not our first time there and won’t be our last...We will go again and sit outside next time.
Worsr experience! Do not eat here. We’ve never complained about pasta - ever and we don’t look for flaws in restaurant food. My husband and I were served Inedible pasta - clearly homemade, however, not initially cooked past doughy. Result: disgusting, chewy (and I don’t mean al dente) dough strands - imagine eating slightly cooked pizza dough. To make matters worse, each of our different pasta dishes was served to us sitting in a watery pool of their different sauces. Pastas were not individually sauteed before serving to get sauce absorbed into the pasta, otherwise pasta sits in a puddle of sauce - which is what we got. Unappetizing to say the least. To add insult to injury, the balsamic vinegar served with the bland olive oil was bitter and rancid! Incredible! - have never had that happen either. The wine was ok.
We debated about not saying anything but we felt we should and did tell the manager who comped our meal. He was pretty horrified and clearly wanted to rectify the situation in the kitchen. I’m guessing he tasted both our pastas after we left - we left almost everything over.
Sorry North Italia - this was a one and done.
My friends and I are from Indiana. The last time I came to your restaurant, I was with my husband and we were visiting family. I said the next time I came to AZ, I'm coming back! So, I brought my girlfriends this time! It was all wonderful and I can't wait to return!
Great evening - Leah was our server - very knowledgeable and friendly. Treated us to dessert & champagne for our anniversary <3 I just Love the atmosphere at North. I always order the homemade Sangria. The pizza and salad and appetizers never disappoint. I love to people-watch so I am glad they seated us on the patio. I love Kierland and North Italia is one of my fave spots to dine.
Based on my past experience with North Italia, I eagerly looked forward to treating my sister, who was visiting from out of state, to what I mistakenly thought would be a delightful experience. We were seated outside on the patio, as I had requested. There were six millennials seated at a table next to us. They were only drinking, apparently, while everyone else was dining. They were extremely loud, to the point that my sister and I were not able to hear anything but the outrageous noise and behavior from their table. They simply did not care that they were ruining everyone’s experience with their rowdy and immature behavior. I had to make two different trips to speak to the manager for help, only to have an assistant manager finally go to their table to joke around with them! She could be heard telling them that they really wanted this rude group to stay!! She offered them a choice of tables inside as though they were deserving of such special treatment, all the while my sister and I were getting more annoyed! Then the assistant manager had the nerve to act like I didn’t have the right to say anything , and all but rolled her eyes at me! That is when I got very angry! Then they sent another manager over to apologize, but only after I informed our waiter, who was terrific, that I would not be paying for the miserable experience ....and I didn’t! My sister and I are 63 and 64 years old and we were treated this way BECAUSE we are older! Turns out that the management team was the same age bracket as the young brats causing all the trouble! In other words, the asylum was being run by the inmates! I cannot stand young adults who clearly feel they are entitled to ruin someone else’s evening!
One of my go to places for lunch with my elderly father. We like to go and sit outside with the puppy and have a nice meal. This time around we were actually redirected and sat at BaRNorth. Their bar and patio location next door. We were served all the same terrific food as we would have if we sat in the actual North Italia patio, but we had a much more laid back and roomier table.
Busy at early hours (6-7pm arrival) but empty by 930pm - Il Postino still hopping. Bar service good, dinner service very good. Charcuterie plate very disappointing - only one meat - prosciutto and only 4 pieces of that. Seemed under portioned - would not re-order or recommend - although the relishes and cutneys they had on the board were excellent. Pizza good - a little more burnt on crust that expected. Bolognese Sauce sweet and tomatoey - waiter did offer to assist and bring some cheese and peppers to try improving the flavor. Would not do that again. Pasta was stuck together and not al dente.
Excellent and friendly service. Creative menu. Good food. Just a real frustration like all businesses in Kierland to find parking. It will be more so when winter visitors come. I like North, but parking is a real consideration for wanting to go there often or not.
Our meal was outstanding. The service was great! My husband ordered the bollognese and it was authentic with the 3 different meats. I️ ordered a chicken dish with spinach and pine nuts in a cream sauce. I couldn’t believe how much chicken there was. Both were delicious!
