North Italia – Denver Ratings and Reviews
A busboy spilled a glass of water and some of it got on my girlfriend. No big deal. She wasn’t mad, but the busboy gave her a quick half-assed apology. Then another waitress, that wasn’t our waitress, gave my girlfriend a rag to dry herself, her coat, and her purse off. Our waitress barley acknowledged the situation. She didn’t ask if my girlfriend was ok. Didn’t offer us comped drinks or offer to comp a percentage of our meal. NOTHING. She just gave us the check and walked away. When I was in college, I worked in the food service industry. If that would have happened where I worked, we would have been super apologetic and would have done anything to make the situation right. The people at North were more concerned with cleaning the floor where they spilt the water than making sure my girlfriend was ok.
This visit was good...until the waiter spilled wine in my lap and didn't do anything (other than cleaning the table) no discount on the bottle, no glass of wine to replace the spilled glass.
We were there to celebrate a birthday and the note in the reservation was ignored. Other tables saw candles and awesome desserts-ours saw the bill.
I did not actually dine here, I sent a small group of people from my work because they needed to have a group interview with a candidate. They reported that it was very noisy and they had a hard time hearing each other. They had no complaints about the food or service, but the noise level was a huge problem. So, if you are looking for a place to have an important conversation over dinner, this is not the place to go.
I loved it. Visiting from California I looked up reviews and menu options online. Food looked very authentic but the picture of the chefs board sold me !! I loved it! I had the house special bolognese with fresh pasta, Wondefull! They have a very nice selection of cocktails. I loved the building interior old bricks low lighting, lovely waitress and staff. Also situatated in a beautiful area. Very enjoyable experience
Our waiter Brad was incredibly friendly and patient with us while my friend and I caught up. Even though the place was incredibly busy, he didn't make us feel rushed in any way. I have been there a few times over the years and it's great to see that the quality is just as great as always. The tiramisu is one of the best in town!
Always enjoy Sunday happy hour and 1/2 price wine. One of our party has dietary restrictions. Server was very knowledgeable and helpful. Started with bruschetta that is small but tasty. Salads are fresh, and even side salad has interesting ingredients. Pizza is on the happy hour menu (order the margherita and add a topping or two for slight charge), and crust is typically baked to perfection. Bolognese sauce is a little sweet and light on meat, but everyone liked the dish. Short rib radiatori was excellent. The person that had the Rosemary Chicken found it a little dry. She added some olive oil to satisfactorily mitigate the issue. Dining room gets energetically busy after 6, but noise level is certainly acceptable.
My wife and I enjoyed an anniversary dinner at North Italia for the second year in a row. We chose this restaurant because the food has always been wonderful. We normally share an appetizer and an entrée and the kitchen splits them on separate plates. Our server was delightful as well. We selected the Emeritus Hallberg Ranch Pinot Noir from the Russian River Valley to enjoy with our dinner and, although it was a little pricey, we were not disappointed.
We were pleasantly surprised by the all-day Sunday happy hour at North. Great pizza and charcuterie board, plus excellent bottles of Italian wines for half-price. We'll definitely go back again after the next Colorado Symphony concert. Derek, our waiter, was helpful and knowledgeable. I imagine their weekend brunches would be worth the trip, too.
We sat outside on a perfect summer evening. Food was fantastic. One of our group is a professional chef and he was impressed with the food. Excellent, excellent. The only reason it's not a full 5-star review is the staff was a little off the mark. We were getting together for a business meeting, two of us from each company and my team arrived first. Although we told the hostess we were meeting a second party and the reservation was for four, they sat the second group at their own table and it took us texting each other to figure out we were sitting on opposite sides of the restaurant. Once seated together, one of the outdoor tables had a serious rock to it and we asked the server if he had anything to stabilize it. He seemed slightly irritated by the request but it's difficult to cut steak with a table that's rocking back and forth with the knife cuts, sloshing drinks and such. Our resident chef indicated his restaurant had wedges they kept on hand for just such an occurrence. The server never brought anything back and we ended up stuffing our napkins under the leg, which solved the problem. But I think this wasn't an unreasonable request for a restaurant of this caliber. Lastly, our server didn't check on us much and not at all once we'd paid the bill, even though we sat for another 30 minutes drinking coffee and talking (and, I'd decided another dessert would have been excellent but no one every came back by so I never had the chance to order more food - another bill and another chance to tip - oh well). Overall it was great and we'll definitely be back but the staff really needs to take it up a notch so their service matches the food and the atmosphere.
We have had positive experiences here before but not during our latest visit. Our waiter was inattentive. We had to repeatedly ask for water and tea. Our food was not brought out together and my companions meal was wrong. This was after we waited a long time for the food. The manager did comp the meal that was wrong but made excuses for the bad service. Too many great places in Denver to eat to have a repeat bad experience.
A trendy place to see and be seen in the cherry creek neighborhood. Love the location and perfect after a day of shopping! We were a party of five and ordered four pasta dishes and two salads, and mussels, and shared everything family style. The squid ink pasta was so spicy that it overwhelmed the squid ink flavor. However, the spaghetti and meatballs, and the pasta with chicken was out of this world! Salads were served cold and crisp, perfect for a warm summer evening. I highly recommend the heirloom tomato and burrata salad. Yum! One very big drawback...they had run out of bread! Nevertheless, our meal was enjoyed.
The food - once it finally arrived - was good, as always. However we waited nearly an hour for our food (as did everyone else on the patio, all of whom were also complaining), and then waited another half hour for our check. The server did comp us a dessert, but not sure we'll be going back again.
The food quality has declined. I had the bolognese and, if I had not had it before multiple times and it is one of my favorite dishes, it was average at best. We were seated by a door and every time someone entered or exited, it was cold and a strong gust of air came it, The table next to ours said they were leaving the "wind tunnel" as soon as they could! It was not a great evening at one of my favorite places in denver.
