North Italia – Austin
This place was recommended by another colleague and the food was amazing! The calamari is different but delicious. the cauliflower as good but not necessary. Other things were better. Pasta great and ample for lunch the next day. Tiramisu was some of the best I have ever had. My only complaint is that the noise made it difficult for our server to hear our responses. I would definitely go back.
Compared to past visits at North Italia, this one was just so-so. Service was not great and the food was ok. Other options in the area may be better.
Lovely day to eat outside, but still noisy. Tasty food!
It took a while to get our food. This place was packed. It is clearly a very popular spot. Once we got our food, everyone at our table raved about how delicious it was.
The food and service are consistently amazing!! We are never disappointed.
Too loud in there! Service was excellent, our waitress did a great job. Will not be going back due to the excessive noise.
Not worth the money. You can make it easily at home and 10 times better.
Great Bolognese! Service is impeccable. Restaurant is very loud, though.
Excellent wine and fabulous food. Pasta was outstanding!
Great experience the only issue we had was one of our guest’s food came out late. The waitress imputed the wrong meal. The manager came over and apologized.
Tasteful food and great service!
Food is outstanding! Consistently. It stays crowded on weekends so don’t forget to make reservations.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The white truffle garlic bread is hands down my favorite. Overall outstanding restaurant.
Thank You for your consistency of Great food & Service.
We brought with us 2 couples & response was
Awesome, we can’t wait to return.
Here's the basic problem. The food was good, and the service certainly acceptable. The questionnaire poses the high end of noise as "energetic": Presumably, the OpenTable people who put together the survey consider this a desirable attribute. For my part, I want to advise you the noise level at North Italia rendered conversation difficult. I had to lean forward the entirety of the meal in order to hear what our friends were saying. I can't for the life of me understand why restaurants insist on delivering such a high noise level ("energetic"?). In case I'm not clear, the noise level significantly detracted from the experience.
This place has changed so much over the years - we will just find a new place to brunch
No more tomato butter - my shandy came out completely different than what I’ve had for YEARS - the food was alright a little cold - our server was absent at best
Just not a good experience for a $60 lunch
Had a wonderful time!
We've been several times. Always good. The only thing I've noticed a majority of the times, including this time, that was negative was that the drinks took a loooong time to arrive. The portions are plenty large, and always good for leftovers.
Been Dining at North for many many years. Great food, Service and Ambiance.
Occasionally the remove a favorite item off the menu, but they gotta keep it fresh.
After arrival we were greeted by a very pleasant server. He gave his name which I will not give in the review. He took our order. After over 10 minutes and not receiving drinks or food of any sort I noted that I did not see the server anywhere. We asked another server who eventually brought us drinks. We were then served our entrées and never received the other food we had ordered which included a shared appetizer. We received a cursory explanation suggesting that our original server “went on break”. The whole thing was somewhat of a mess as far as service, and disappointing although the food in general is good. Not sure we will return to this particular restaurant.
The service was meh, but the food was amazing! We will definitely be back.
Wonderfull chicken parmesan. Great service
Delicious! Service was excellent.
I’d been to North one previous time but certainly did not remember how GOOD it was. My wife and I went for her birthday and the meal was incredible. We ordered the Arancini, Italian Salad, Pizza of the Day (Meatball w/ ricotta, like a lasagna!), the Strozzapreti, and the Salted Caramel Budino (a must). All were fantastic. We even got there right before 6pm for a 1/2 bottle of wine!
Thanks North Italia for a wonderful birthday dinner!
Tonight was Date Night with hubby. The food was delicious as always.
I really had a craving for their specialty hamburger - I know a hamburger (?!?) but North does a hamburger like no one else with their signature roasted tomato jam, fontina cheese, arugula, grilled onions and aioli - it simply is amazing. Anyway this is not offered on the dinner menu but when I asked our waitress about this option she offered to checked with the chef. She quickly can back and said they had everything to do the burger for dinner - no problem! That’s service. And yes it was DELICIOUS!
Thank you, North Italia. This is why we keep coming back again and again.
The food is great, but the gluten free pasta could use improvement (use gluten free noodles instead of penne depending on the dish). The bolognese is a standout.
Pizza of the day was not greasy and had fresh mozzarella, meatballs and red sauce that was excellent.
This is one of our favs for birthday lunches. However, since it was a holiday, there were a lot of folks there and the service was non-exsistant. We waited for everything we ordered, the fans outside were turned off at one point, the server did not return to ask if we needed anything. It took us 2 hours for an appetizer and pizza plus wine. However, the food was delicious. Suggest going on a non-holiday.
Always excellent food choices, we like the periodic changes! High quality, great service - that's why we keep going back. Keep up the great work.
Date night with Wife, this place never disappoint.
What a great meal. We are trying to try the full menu. Pasta dishes are as Authentic as they come.
Service was prompt, food was served hot and tasty!
Definitely my favourite Italian in the domain
Took family here for the first time and they enjoyed it.
Enjoyed my experience dining at North.
I have a severe gluten allergy and have eaten at North several times before with no problem, but I was not so lucky the last time I dined there. I got very very sick, which is no fun and disappointing. But the list disappointing thing if all is that I called and left a message to let them know what happened and they have not reached out to me. The time before that, my daughter who is a vegetarian discovered a chunk of chicken in her pasta - after biting into it! A lot more attention to detail would go a loooong way.
The bill for five people with 3 pasta dishes, a pizza, a salad, an appetizer and water was just over $100. The calamari did not come with any kind of sauce, and was heavily breaded and fried. The Caesar salad was mostly a big bowl of lettuce. While the entrees tasted good and were made with quality ingredients, the meal as a whole was not worth the price. The service was great and food was served quickly. The reservation online noted it was for a birthday in our family, and while nothing free was expected, it would have been nice to have a verbal acknowledgement of the occasion.
I am hoping that the poor service and poor food we had was just a "bad" night. I had reservations and asked if we could have a booth. The person seating us said, " no , it is reserved" but I will check. There was not a reserved sign on the table and she never returned with an answer. She seated someone else there within a few minutes. Our waiter was not prompt taking our order or delivering our food and in fact, people who can in after us were waited on and served way before us. My Artichokes were inedible and my husband's cheese board looked like a disarray of leftovers. This is all out of character for your restaurant and not at all like previous visits. A manager or someone came by our table to inquire about our food. He took one look at the artichokes and sighed. No compensation!
No after today
- the food was awful
- the host made us awkwardly stand in the middle of the patio (in the way of servers and guests) for like 5 minutes because they sat someone at our table.
-our drink orders were forgot and we rarely saw our server
Was a little disappointed that I had made reservations and we were seated in a very cramped table extremely close to another table. The other guest had to squeeze in between our tables several times to use the restroom. Either the table or I was bumped into by the servers a few times while we ate and due to this my drink was splashed on the table.
I did not complain since our server was very nice and it was not her or her fault.
They should consider removing one of the two top tables on the far left of the dining room.
2nd St is a much nicer venue and there is considerable space between tables.
Great food, great service. Loved the restaurant.
