North Italia – Austin Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I knew we'd be in the area shopping on my bday so we thought it would be nice to grab an early dinner nearby. We heard about the from-scratch kitchen at North Italia and saw the other great reviews and decided to make a reservation through Open Table. When they called the day-of to confirm the reservation, they asked if we wanted inside or on the patio (which is enclosed right now with heaters). It was a surprisingly nice day right before the ice storm so we sat on the patio - the right call because it can get a bit loud in the main dining area. We were sat immediately when we arrived, our waitress was friendly and helpful, the pasta was truly incredible, the pizza was decent, the zucca chips irresistible, and the salted caramel pudding was perfect (and on the house because of my birthday!). I also asked for a mock-tail and they made me a great fresh strawberry mojito without alcohol for a reasonable price ($3.50). We were very happy with the cost when the bill came - it was an affordable dinner out all things considered. I'm gonna sound like I'm 65 when I say this (I just turned 31), but it was a great value for the money. haha
Appetizers were amazing. Pizza was mediocre. My margarita pizza was very greasy and did not taste like an authentic margarita pizza. My boyfriend’s valid ID was declined when ordering a drink because he is from Europe. This has never happened before anywhere. This was very disappointing, as he was looking forward to wine with his Italian meal.
My friends and I were in Austin for a weekend getaway. This was our first time eating at North. Everything was great. The location, the service, the atmosphere, the food, the prices...all great. Gluten free options, vegan options, light fare were all there. Great place!
I’ve been to North many times, but was extremely disappointed this time around. I requested a special table for my dads birthday, which we did not get. The food was mediocre. The pizza came out to us cold. It was obnoxiously loud in the dining room area and I was unable to even have a conversation with my family bc I could not hear them. The service was good, but I have experienced much better before. I was upset because my family did not enjoy the dinner, when I had recommended this place.
We love north italia! we go as often as we can, at least every other month. Our favorite go to guilty pleasure is the Truffle Bread appetizer.
We have been a bit disappointed the past three times we have ordered this item as it has not been consistent. We would ask management to look into this in order to ensure consistency across the board no matter what day of the week.
What we love about this dish is the amazing truffle butter and melted cheese; however the last time we went there was no cheese and the butter was not even melted, just put right on top.
no matter what we will be back at north italia
We love this restaurant and we go often. The salmon on the kale salad is particularly good. Normally I would give it an excellent review but at this time, I hesitate. Normally we sit outside because of the ambient noise level. At this time it was even difficult to hold conversation in the outdoor area with a table of 5 because of the high noise level of conversation, dishes, etc. This restaurant generally has delicious food and excellent service. However, the major drawback, by far, is the noise level during busy periods, which is a lot of the time. I suggest the restaurant hire some competent architects to introduce noise abatement measures. Otherwise, go in off peak times of early or very late lunches and dinners. Like I said, we love this restaurant much of the time.
Perfect meal with our sons and their girlfriends. The seasonal vegetable salad is the best! Every season...To top it off, we had the best desserts - especially the orange cheesecake tart with tropical fruit, whipped cream, holy basil, and cinnamon syrup. Very unique! The service was outstanding as usual, and we love the atmosphere.
Always get an amazing meal at North. Had to wait around thirty minutes to be seated with our reservation (quite a few large groups - seemed like company holiday parties), but the staff went above and beyond to make up for it and we really appreciated it! It was a great birthday dinner for my best friend - would definitely recommend the hazelnut torta.
We enjoy meals at North on a regular basis. The occasion was my wife's birthday and I made a reservation using the Open Table app. We wanted an indoor table but had to settle for an outdoor table unless we waited for 45 minutes beyond the time of our reservation. This has happened to us before. If you want to sit inside, MAKE IT CLEAR ON YOUR RESERVATION!
Waiter was forgetful about most everything, coming back and asking several times the same thing. Again. He also forgot about a side dish till the end. I have always had to great service here but this was quite poor to say the least. He was courteous and polite but completely forgetful about most everything
