North End American Grill
Love it here and close to my home!
My 4th time here and have never left hungry! Service is wonderful and the food leaves me wanting to come back for more!
Our first visit to North End Tavern and Grill was this past Friday night, while staying with friends for the weekend in North Wildwood. Very lively place; good bar scene, indoor or outdoor tables, food was very good. My shrimp and avocado wrap was very good. Accompanied with sweet potato fries, and a few Kona draft beers made for a wonderful evening!
we were able to walk in and they could seat us within a couple minutes even though we were early which was great, the food took a very long time once it was ordered, this wait was the worst part, the food was delicious though, highly recommend the sweet potato fries. this is my second time dining here in two weeks and both times it was a long wait for food even though the restaurant was not overly crowded.
The service was extremely slow. It was over an hour before we got our food! Party of 5. We ordered two burgers, two salmon dinners & a kids pizza. When the food finally was delivered to our table, it didn’t come all at once but over the course of 5 minutes! We will not be back.
Great food. Love the wings.
Good for kids
My only complaint: we sat outside and it was sooo loud. My ears were ringing when I left. The music was nice and we enjoyed it, but it was soo loud.
The chicken in the chicken parm dish was over cooked and the pasta sauce had no flavor. The prime rib on the sandwich was over cooked. The seafood Cobb salad was good. The noise level was as expected. Service was good. It was our first visit and I don’t feel the food warrants a return visit, which is too bad as we own a place in WWC and spend a lot of time there during the season through the new year
I like the changes that north end did to the menu this year . Mussels were very good I think they had the best nachos on the island then did away with them glad to see there back on the menu still not as good as they were some minor adjustments to the menus is all that’s needed
much better then the last two years
We had dinner here on a Friday night at 5pm, and it wasn’t at all busy.
We ordered dinner - my friend ordered an appetizer for dinner, and the waitress didn’t pickup on this, nor ask, so I sat there while my friend ate her food and I waited for mine. Not a huge deal.
Dinner arrived - I ordered the cheeseburger, no bun, with fries. The burger had a weird taste to it, so I didn’t finish it, and the fries were just okay. I have eaten here before so I was really surprised by this.
Also, again, they were not busy at all, and I had to look around to locate my waitress twice to get a refill on my water. It was so hot outside I was drinking it pretty fast. I had to ask another server to find her for the water and the check. She was standing and leaning on the hostess stand the whole time we were there, with her back facing us, and not being attentive at all, unless she was flagged down.
The service and the food would probably be enough for me to not come back here.
I noted in the open table reservation that this was a special occasion. I typically wouldn’t of even divulged that information but since open table asked the question I checked yes being that it was. The hostess and the waitress failed to recognize the occasion. It was uncomfortably warm inside. Because they had live music outside and all the front doors were open. This past Saturday was 100% humidity. Waitress asked me for my drink order, I asked for a Martinez. She told me they don’t know how to make one..? I thought this day in age with a cell phone at the tip of your fingers the bartender can’t google ANY drink and figure it out??? How is that possible.. so what ever.. I ordered another drink.. that was at 745ish.. I drank it in probably 5 min. I wasn’t asked to refill my drink, as I sat empty in front of me, until I was leaving and asking for my check an hour later. The appetizers, mussels in a cream broth with French fries on top. Broth was ok. French fries soggy laying in the broth.. enough said.. confused about that.. and I ordered the wedge salad.. it was ok. Entree- Crab cake BLT sandwich thumbs down. That was mine, I left half of it on the plate. My father in law ordered the prime rib sandwich. STALE ROLL.. and it was a glorified bad cheesesteak.. horrible. He left half that on his plate. My youngest did eat the single serving bar pizza. I didn’t try that. My wife and I shared the fish tacos ( After I gave up on the crab cake) they needed way more dressing bc they were very dry. Overall F.. bar food, not a dinner place. Cross this one of the list.
They essentially ran out of food so we left. How do you run out of Oysters, & every kind of steak you serve on a Holiday Weekend?
The food wasn’t good. We ordered sliders to start and they were so greasy that the bottom of the bun fell apart when you picked them up. Then the onions were supposed to be caramelized but just not cooked well and stuck on the top of the slider with a huge glob of bbq sauce. It wasn’t edible. For my main I ordered pasta, crab and Gorgonzola. They brought out a pound of pasta to me. The dish wasn’t good. There was too much cheese, you couldn’t taste the little bit of crab and they didn’t even have one of the ingredients in the dish which was peas. We will not be returning.
Everything was really good... except the crab cakes... all breading and very very little crabmeat. That was a disappointment
I want this place to be so good and has so much potential but management just doesn’t care. The poor server girls are trying so hard but the kitchen just blows.
Not air conditioning this week
Service was very slow on a night they were nearly empty. Served appetizer & main course at same time. I do not recommend.
Awful!! Walked out. Was here before and had great service and the waitress was awful. No knowledge of the menu or anything. No silverware. No salad no apps. Waited 45 minutes. Questioned it twice and then we left. Never will return. And it’s sad because it used to be one of our favs!
It was ok. There was hardly anyone in the place which was a shame for the singer/guitarist who was playing. Live music was quite nice and quite good, just couldn't sit outside due to it being too chilly. Steak had to go back, was overcooked. Hate to say but if you are going to make an error, undercook so that you don't have to start over & have the patron wait forever. Ended up eating half my date's dinner and taking mine home which wasn't the point. Still wondering why it was such a slow night. May try again, who knows. Laura, the server was attentive & friendly.
One of the worst dining experiences EVER. A friend joined us for dinner - - she ordered a frozen drink and was told the frozen ice maker was broken. She then ordered the three course meal. When they brought her entree it was not what she ordered (baked 1/2 chicken); server took it back to kitchen. 10 minutes later a manager(?) came back and said they didn't have the item she ordered on their menu. It was on the menu, and server was not aware they don't serve baked chicken any more. She settled for chicken piccata (which was not good/tough). And no surprise -- the third course (dessert) which she ordered up front (brownie) was not available. Very poor dining/service experience. Waitress was pleasant and in an awkward position. One of the few restaurants that takes Open Table reservations in Wildwoods - - now I know why. We will never go back.
Had to give some type of rating to be able to write this review. Very disappointed in this restaurant. I made a reservation for brunch at 11 am on Sunday. Only to find out that they don’t open until 12. There should not be time slots available for reservations if the restaurant isn’t even open. And there was no one at the restaurant when we tried to call. Not sure I’ll be eating here ever.
Delicious meals in a modern decor. We especially enjoyed the music playing of jazzy old standards.
Very disappointing, menu limited and then not what is described. Ordered the Get 3 Deal; salad good, dinner ~ ordered half a chicken got a dried out 3 or 4 oz boneless chicken breast with a couple of capers on it, cold potatoes and poorly sautéed spinach, brownie was ok, but over all if you go there just order a burger as that was the best looking thing at the table, although overcooked.
The server was very personable, but had limited time to take care of us. If your hungry and no other place is open, this will fill the void, otherwise look elsewhere.
I couldn't score it any higher and that makes me sad. The hash browns were cold. The $17 lobster omelette had very little lobster in it and it was just okay. The butter came out for the toast very cold and the toast was in hot so it was just overall average for brunch. What I did like was the Bloody Mary bar was amazing and the mimosas or awesome as well! I would definitely recommend their cocktails but the food for me was just okay.
When the best thing you can say about a restaurant is that your server was okay, you know you should avoid the establishment at all costs. We made a reservation for 8PM thru Open Table. Probably waited 20 minutes to be seated. Then waited another 5 for the server to appear. Place was super busy given all that was happening that weekend. After drinks were ordered and served, we finally were ready to order. Instead of a list of specials, your server tells you what they're out of...and unfortunately, it was a lot. Not only were they out of items before we ordered, after we ordered, our server had to come back twice to get substitute orders for things that they also ran out of since we gave her our order. Shame on me as this was not our first negative experience here. We knew going in they would be out of something. But it will be our last visit here. We made a group pact never to come back for dinner. And that really tells you all you need to know. Fine for drinks and outside seating, but the management needs to improve. It's a limited menu to begin with, so a restaurant like this should never run out of things like salmon, oysters and crab meat, just to name a few of the "we're out of" items.
We came here for my birthday this past Saturday. We had a reservation but we're still seated late at a table that had been open since we had shown up. We have had dinner here previously a few years ago but after this dinner we will not be returning. The food was subpar and we had to remind them of things that were missing in the table's order each time a round of food came out. The waitress was nice but seemed overwhelmed because she rarely came over to check on us or ask if we needed more drinks. It was a very disappointing meal.
I went here with family for dinner. The decor is beach, they had live music and the service was great. Nice draft beer specials and a three course for $20. We really enjoyed ourselves here.
Don't waist your time and money. Overpriced and poor food. Prime rib requested as medium rare came gray and the waitress twice said that's all they 'are allowed to do.' It was 6 p.m. Friday night yet the they were out of ribs. Middle of summer at the beach?!? Fish was soggy; clam flatbread missing a lot of clams.
Seasonal veggie -- spinach was very good. Waitress was very friendly but could not help. No manager in site. Men's restroom was OFFENSIVE: standing at the urinal with women in thong bikini's with their backside facing the man. Really!??! And it was messy, dirty floor.
In a nutshell, maybe only for a beer and burger. NOTHING ELSE.
Great patio with live music. Food came out too fast. Felt rushed but food was good. Nice burger selection. Like the lobster roll.
The lobster roll is excellent. It's nice to sit outside, eat and listen to the live music. It's just loud enough so you can still talk and hear each other at the table. Good martini's!
The best hamburgers at the shore!
Good atmosphere, good food and reasonably priced. The service was pretty good , outside seating is available and this place is located in a great area close to other nightlife hotspots.
It was very loud. The waitress was super busy and it a long time to get our order. The first Pepsi was flat and the second one wasn't much better. The prime rib came out and it was like shoe leather. The waitress got me a new one that was better. The kids portion of noodles was tiny and came out cold and the meatball was like ice. My husband had a burger that was "OK". The only thing that made it worth going to was the $4 glass of wine. It's early in the season so maybe it will improve as they get more experience.
First time for brunch at the Northend. Memorial Weekend - 10:30-11:00a.m. Busy and loud. Service was very slow. Food was served on the not-so-warm side but it was tasty. Crab cake benedict had a crab cakes (2) the size of a McNugget and was good just not hot. The sausages were not hot. During brunch we ordered another round of cocktails which came when our meal was over. The waitress did apologize for the slow service. Not sure if I'd return as I like my food served "hot". It seemed obvious that our entrees were sitting waiting to be served for awhile. For $60+ I'd more than likely not return for brunch.
Unfortunately, this was not a positive experience. Service was awful. The food was mediocre at best. My husband arrived a little bit late and was never even asked if he wanted to order something - even after he asked for something to drink and our food was delivered. Our drinks were never refilled. Out of everything we ordered, the chicken fingers my daughter had good though. Our bill was pretty expensive for 3 kids meals (2 pasta and 1 chicken fingers) and pizza. We actually paid our bill and walked down the street for my husband to have dinner and then we ordered dessert there. Also, some items on the online menu were not on the actual menu. Unfortunately, one of those items was something that we wanted to order as our meal. But I understand that those things do happen. It was just very disappointing overall. I could see this being a good place to get drinks, but I won't be back with my family for dinner any time soon.
Holiday (Easter) dinner with a family of 12 mixed in ages from 6-60's! Enjoyed by all, nice place, good service, good food and value!
Sorry to say we went for Easter Brunch and the menu was extremely limited. My Omelet was runny. I was sick to my stomach after eating it, They didn't have any dessert to offer.
Dinner of Crabcakes came out ice cold ...sent back got replaced w another dinner ... less in price but the crab cake price was on the bill .. had eat alone since other dinners were eaten while new meal cooked ... other dinners were fine ...
that dinner should have been off the bill ...
I always enjoy going to the North End with my family. Love there burgers!
We went late in the season and they were out of most dishes. The burgers we ended up with were okay but not memorable. The server was slow and impolite.
