What an excellent. I have been to North Beach Restaurant before and wanted to share the wonderful food and service with a very good friend, and the experience did not disappoint. It was wonderful as usual.

Do not bring a baby here. They will treat you badly. Food was too salty. Our waiter was nice and tried his best. But the bussers and the host were extremely rude. They wouldn’t let us pick a better table, wouldn’t walk us to our table, yelled at us about our stroller. Treated us like crap when our kid cried. Wait staff were rushing around us to serve other tables...took two and a half hours to order two pastas and a salad and some appetizers. Our guest that we brought had an anxiety attack and they tried to call the ambulance when he went outside for fresh air then cleared our table before we were done as if to get rid of us. Overcharged us for mediocre calamari. Sat people two inches a way from us on all sides so busses and wait staff had to run behind us every five minutes and it was so damn loud. We had to scream to hear each other. Food was gross (over-salted..skimpy ingredients...pasta tasted like a supermarket brand that was not homemade...and it was overpriced. North Beach Restaurant has become a tourist trap. Nightmare experience!!! I’m a 3rd gen San Franciscan and I was scandalized. Oh. And I had feed my kid on the stairs to calm him down it was so chaotic in there. I noticed that there were hanging slabs of meet in the basement with flies around them. The bathroom downstairs had nowhere to change a diaper except for on the counter between the sinks. It’s really not the true Italian family-style experience but some bastardized Disneyland version like the spots on Columbus. Shame on them.

I have had excellent meals here for 30 years and just returned hoping it would be the same. It was...almost. The food remained excellent, they still served the Petroni wines, and the ambiance was similar with experienced waiters and bartenders. What was different? I had to ask for the olive oil! Italian restaurants are also renown the expectation that you will not feel rushed, have the time to enjoy your meal and your friends, and even have the table for the evening if desired. Unfortunately, something has been lost with this tradition at North Beach Restaurant. One felt hurried, if not harried and that took away some from the experience. However, I will be sure to return at the next opportunity and expect that similar decisions by others has necessitated the need to move people through the restaurant. Too bad that some things are not timeless.

Our waiter was rude, brought the wrong order for my wife, didn’t adjust the bill accordingly, and rushed us through the meal. Very disappointed.

The North Beach Restaurant is my favorite restaurant in San Francisco. I try to eat there whenever I'm in the city. The Tuscan food and fine wines are beyond amazing (don't miss the Tiramisu in any case), and the staff are absolutely charming. I've been eating there for 30 years and I'm never disappointed.

Disappointed. Arrived and was told they did not see my reservation on open table, but they said they would find us a table. Wanted a delicious Italian meal in North Beach. I ordered Ciopino- it was only so so, lots of fish very little shellfish and only 1 prawn. The salad was good. My friend enjoyed her seafood risotto.Dinner was pricey and server was less than attentive. I do not plan to return . There are many other restaurants to choose from in North Beach.

The home made lasagna was not very good and, in fact, tasted a bit sour. Service was fine and ambience as expected.

Food was excellent & Spiro(our waiter) was delightful. Definitely old school and we do appreciate that kind of restaurant vs all the new hot spots

Visited North Beach Restaurant many, many years ago. Always remembered it as great food, great service, and great ambiance. Wanted to try it again. We weren't disappointed, though, alas, over the years, your memories become distorted. Still, we had very good food (two pasta dishes and caesar salads), attentive service, a good wine, and a leisurely evening.

Overall, a very good place to dine before going to Club Fugazi. We arrived before the crowds so it was very quiet inside. The host called me by name which was very welcoming (and I am not a regular). Our waiter made several menu suggestions. Food was brought to the table timely and it was served hot. We had the burrata to start which was the only disappointing menu item (not as rich as others we've eaten and missing the lovely olive oil drizzle). Otherwise we enjoyed linguini with shrimp, veal scaloppine and fettuccini with scallops. All quite tasty.

Waiter did not tell us any of the days specials;, we heard about them later from another table's waiter. My osso bucco was extremely salty, served with a very small slice of pre-made polenta, and a forkful of broccoli rabe. My husband's veal saltimboca was tasty but the veal was a bit tough. My son ordered a salmon steak and was pleased. I was expecting a good experience, given the restaurant's reputation. I would not recommend this restaurant--given service, food quality and price point. I would not return to this restaurant--SF has too many excellent ones to choose from.

Enjoyed the food even if it was old style Italian. Service was excellent. If you have guests from out of town it would make for a fun evening to walk neighborhood and enjoy some pasta.
