North Beach Fish Camp Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant has great food and service but can be extremely noisy. Menu has many excellent choices. I had a fish called triple tail and it was outstanding. Our waitress was great in explaining the menu and making suggestions. My wife did not like her appetizer and the waitress noticing it was not eaten replaced it with another choice. I would recommend this restaurant for really great food but not for much conversation
We brought our friends who were visiting from NY and one is a foodie and one has food allergies and they were both very pleased. For our fried who had food allergies, the waitress was very knowledgeable about the ingredients and the options to have things on the side or cooked with different sauces. We all had different dishes and loved them.
Our evening at North Beach was excellent. We all started with cocktails and shared appetizers of Fried Green Tomatoes and Crusted Artichoke Hearts which were amazing. Our entrees were excellent, including Mahi-mahi with grits and Scallops. I can’t say enough about the service, and outstanding food. Just fantastic.
For a date night had to sit very close to front door, food cold , no taste, fried shrimp very small and no meat to the shrimp. french fries very cold, hard, no taste. the cod was very poor. Overall a very disappointing experience plus cost very high. I am sorry I made the choice.
The server was the worst I’ve had at this establishment. She yelled even louder than necessary, and this restaurant is extremely noisy already. So she was truly screaming. They did not have either of the 2 different beverages a member of our party ordered even though she stated plainly “We have EVERYTHING else on the menu except that.” when the first drink selection was made. Second go round she stated the second choice was also not available. If I return and she is my waitress, I will ask for a different server.
We Sat upstairs which is quieter. This restaurant is rather famous for being noisy. The upstairs retains the old architectural detail of the original building and those of us who have been going there for many years remember when it was a bar and You could lean out over the sidewalk while you drink your beer. The building is a Neptune Beach landmark and the Fishcamp provides excellent seafood dishes.
Food excellent-as always. The snapper bites were fantastic. Our reservation was at 6:30, and there were several large tables around us. Our waiter was too busy, so we had to ask another waiter to get us a cocktail- she did! Our waiter later apologized for the delay- which was appreciated. This place is just great.
I always love going to all of the Fish Camps and Marker 32. The food is great and all the locations are perfect. I like being able to take my boat to two of the locations for lunch or dinner. The only downside to the NB Fish Camp is the noise level. It is fine around 5:30 or 6 but then as people start filling in, you can hardly have a conversation it gets so loud.
I have never been disappointed with my meal at North Beach Fish Camp. Excellent food - fresh seafood prepared well. I recommend making a reservation because even on a rainy Thursday night recently the place was packed. If possible request a table along the wall because the place is noisy ("energetic" is a positive twist on this) and you'll have trouble hearing your dining companions if your table is in the center of the restaurant, as ours was on our most recent visit. Friendly and fast service. Casual atmosphere even though the food is 5-star restaurant quality. A true gem in Neptune Beach.
One of our favorite places on the Jax beaches. We go there every time we are in town. Located in Neptune Beach a couple of blocks from the ocean in a dining and entertainment area that is lots of fun. It is always packed - recommend you make a reservation. That said, they can handle a full house as well as anyone - their service and food is top notch. Nice, small bars (one on each floor) - good beer and spirits selection - modest wine list but we can always find something we like - they also serve the full menu at the bar so it's an option if you show up without a reservation (and can find room at the bar). The food is outstanding.
Dinner was wonderful, only sad part was being seated upstairs in a more “bar” type setting instead of the lovely outdoor seating! But...it was still a wonderful dinner with fantastic food! If you’re looking for a great date spot, this is it, just make sure you request outdoor/downstairs seating!
This was our second trip to North Beach Fish Camp. It was so great when we were visiting last year that we decided to return and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing and seafood was very fresh. I had the fried seafood and the batter was light and did not have a heavy, greasy flavor. We are already planning to eat here again on our next visit to Jacksonville.
The food was amazing but our server was not trained well at all in the art of serving wine. We ordered a bottle of celebratory sparkling wine before dinner and a bottle of white wine with dinner. No sample pour to taste after opening the bottles. He had no idea what an appropriate pour looked like. He never refilled our glasses throughout dinner and did not remove our empty bottles (we discreetly moved them to an adjacent table). His conversation skills were sorely lacking, also. After explaining that our son worked at a local university, he continued to refer to him as a college student. Other than that, it was a wonderful meal.
Nowhere does a restaurant ask you how you want your salmon cooked. (rare, medium, etc,) but they do here AND they deliver it exact as they say they would. Lot;s of delicious and creative seafood at reasonable prices, but don't come for a quiet romantic conversation. I,m really looking forward to returning for a great meal. (They even have clam bellies!)
