North 26 Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Our reservation was on Christmas night. Upon arriving and ordering drinks the bartender snapped at us and said she needed to clean before she could serve us.
When the rest our party arrived the hostess was no where to be found.
Our waiter never told us he was our waiter. 2 people ordered seltzer and only 1 person got theirs. He brought the wrong bottle of wine, thankfully I caught that. 3 of us ordered soup for an appetizer, no spoons were brought to the table. My husband had to get up and go find someone to give him spoons.
Then after all of that the food was just so so.
Quite disappointing as we eat out every Christmas and have not experienced such a disappointing evening.
Would not eat there again or recommend it at all.
The staff was very courteous. Our waiter was AMAZING and very attentive. It was fun just to watch him wait on the other tables. One of those waiters who memorizes the entire order and gets it all perfect the first time. The food was outstanding. We all just about licked our plates clean. Portions were perfect and my wine glass was topped off without me saying a word. We would definitely dine here again.
We were very pleased with our dining experience at 26 North. We had salads that were very tasty and fresh, followed by entrees of Baked Haddock and Seared Scallops; both were excellent. Our servers were very attentive and food was delivered from the kitchen by others on the team.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a hotel restaurant that was very reasonably priced for such excellently prepared food.
Breakfast the next morning was equally as enjoyable.
The restaurant was very quiet and most of the tables empty when we arrived 6:30 on a Friday night. That is typically not a good sign. Our server was a bit rusty, messed up our wine order at first but redeemed himself by being a good guy throughout our meal. We were there with a group of 7, including 3 kids. Was very near city hall so was perfect for after ice skating meal. The restaurant is part of a hotel and the hotel lobby was very nice.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at North 26. There was a special menu with many choices. We had a traditional turkey dinner. The food was wonderful - they managed to be creative but traditional enough that we could have a Thanksgiving experience. Staff was attentive. View of Faneuil Hall was quite nice. Didn't know what to expect. It was out first time there. A definite "yes" for future dining!
The food at this place was very good and the portions are very large.
The North 26 restaurant is located on 26 North Street and I believe it is associated with a hotel. This is a great place to eat a quick very good almost home cooked meal. The service is good although initially we were a bit skeptical for about 5 minutes. The food is fresh and prepared with care – awesome attitude (they will do anything for you to please you you). The atmosphere is a cross between a luncheonette and an upscale restaurant (weird, I know).
Wife loved it.
We arrived at an off time and found the atmosphere conducive to conversation; as it grew later, the noise level went up as we were seated near the bar. The wait staff was excellent - knowledgeable, friendly and helpful without hovering.
We came for Dine Out Boston/Restaurant Week and would definitely return. The food was excellent. In particular, my friend said it was the BEST lobster bisque she had ever had.
Tried this gem because of DINE-OUT 2016 and was happy to have done it. Beautifully appointed interior and the service was warm and friendly. Very nice dining experience but what ranks highest for me is the food. My fellow diner and myself both enjoyed our meals. The Shrimp and Manchego croquettes were creamy and delicious balanced with some arugala. The entrees of lobster tagliatelle in tarragon cream sauce was tasty if not a little heavy for lunch. My prosciutto, spinach and cheese stuffed chicken on a crispy polenta toast was perfect. The restaurant was not crowded and service was swift so that mid-week lunch was easy to do. People watching of Fanuiel Hall was good too!
Lobster bake special for $20 inc. a 1.25lb lobster, bowl of clam chowder , potatoes and corn on the cob. We also shared a plate of mussels that came in a wonderful wine sauce. The lobster was fresh, cooked just right and shell cracked open at just the right places, really appreciate the attention to detail part! Alec ,our server came to check on us several times during our meal and his partner cleared our table when Alec was busy. What a team!
We highly recommend this little gem if you are in the Quincy Market neighborhood.
North 26 has a wonderful gluten free menu. The food is good. The lobster, shrimp, and avocado salad is particularly noteworthy. And I think this is a worthy restaurant.
But, to be frank, the management is unresponsive and, in my experience, it would be accurate to accuse it of bait and switch tactics. I learned about this restaurant on the internet where an "ongoing" rib eye dinner special for $20 was advertised prominently and elaborated upon with great enthusiasm. I actually emailed the restaurant a week in advance to ask if this special were still running. No answer. I called. No answer. I left a voice mail. No answer. I booked a reservation through Open Table and went to the restaurant anyway. No dinner special. The service was slow too.
This is not to say that I was unhappy or that this is a bad restaurant. I would go back. The food is good and the atmosphere is pleasant. But it is not a can't miss, must go there gem either.
For our marriage lunch, we chose North 26 (a new location for us to visit). It really was a challenging experience overall which hampered our celebration. To start, our reservation was confirmed and cancelled without notice, and we had to submit another prior to the day. Our orders took an excessively long time to get served, and one was completely missed in our party and took almost 20 minutes to be served. My particular choice (fish and chips) came completely apart and new fish had to be brought out separately to address it. I would be hard-pressed to recommend another visit in the future.
I took my wife and mom here for Mother's Day and booked thru Open Table. The site says that Lunch is served every day from 11:00am to 5:00pm. I looked over the lunch menu and was satisfied that there would be appetizing choices for my wife who is allergic to wheat and shellfish. Then, once we arrived for our 1:00pm Sunday reservation, we were told that they were serving only from a very limited Brunch menu (which is not mentioned on the website). Needless to say, I was not pleased as my wife was basically limited to having a side salad for Mother's Day. I will NOT be returning.
I was there with my wife, kids and in-laws for Mother's Day brunch. My inlaws got there first, when we checked in they "did not have our reservation" - supposedly because of the in-laws prior arrival.
The food was good not great. My French Toast appeared to be an afterthought, 4 pieces of triangle bread on a plate. The omlettes we ordered were overdone and likely heat-lamped by the looks of it.
Service was ok, friendly and helpful when asked, but slow. Course two came out prior to course one being cleared. And the first of the pre fixed menu courses took about an hour to arrive, at times we had to get up to ask for a waiter to take our order or refill our glasses. However we all left incredibly full!
Over all the 2+ hour meal was a nice break from our busy lives, but we were not intending to be there so long for that meal and for the price I would have liked the food to be presented with more care.
We found North 26 with the OpenTable App when looking for a place near our hotel -- The Bostonian, which is located directly across from Faneuil Hall market place -- a wonderful location. Luckily, this outstanding spot was right inside our hotel. After a 6 hour flight, we were thrilled to find this wonderful place to unwind after a stressful travel day. My husband and I both had the special -- a 14-ounce rib eye steak with mashed potatoes and blanched green beans with a touch of olive oil and robust red peppers. The steaks were cooked to perfection. Although the chef recommended pairing our meal with the malbec, I opted for the merlot, which didn't disappoint. Even though we were quite full from outstanding meal, we had coffee and dessert -- the molton chocolate cake with ice cream, berries and a pretty drizzle of chocolate sauce. This was outstanding. My only complaint would be that the mashed potatoes needed a little more flavor -- perhaps some garlic. Everything else was superb We would definitely recommend for those traveling to Boston.
Overall I was please with my main course of Swordfish which was delicious as was my wife's little necks. Service was good and prices were very reasonable for Boston, good value! Only complain was the Beef Capaccio was flavorless and disappointing. In conclusion, definitely worth going for a good meal at a good price, just save that app for a high-end steak house.
Our initial impression of the place was very good. The server seemed kind, the ambiance was quiet and peaceful and the food tasted great.
Our experience was destroyed when it was time to pay. We had warned the waiter at the beginning of the dinner that we would be splitting the bill. To that he answered: "We'll see about that." When he realized that we weren't kidding he gave us many passive aggressive remarks and took 30 minutes to bring the check. To add insult to the injury, the restaurant was empty.
Splitting the bill might not be common practice in the US, but this is unacceptable behavior.
Great place for Easter Brunch. I selected North 26 because it was affordable and conveniently located. Parking was validated. Drinks were great. Service was very attentive and personable. We each ordered something different and had no complaints about our meals.
beutiful place, and a great location.
We came for a special occasion and thought this would be THE place for it... We ordered 2X 3 course dinners and started to get a little suspicious when the waitress was unable to describe some of the dishes ("Boston cream pie is not like a pie, but more fluffy as a doughnut").
As the food started arriving we got more and more disappointed - the soup and polenta were tasteless, the rabioli was so sweet it was impossible to eat, the rabbit meat (usually tender) was dry and stiff, and he sea food came in a too-sweet, sticky lump that used to be carrots (?). It was also covered with dill so that all we could smell was the dill smell.
when we got to the Boston cream pie we realized that by "fluffy" the waitress neatnt to a very poorly made layers cake with very little crea inside.
Unfortunately we left more than half of the food in the plates and were very disappointed to leave ~$130 at the restaurant.
It would hae been perfect, if there was only a different chef in the restaurant :(
My Girlfriend and I Arrived Right On Time To A Friendly Valet Guy To Greet Up.We Got In To The Restaurant Its Was Beautiful....Sat Down Right Away I Review The Menu So Many Times I Knew What I Had To Try ..We Started Off With The Red And Gold Beets Salad, Prosciutto And Pear Salad, And Shrimp And Manchengo Cheese Croquettes..This Dishes Where Amazing..Then I Had The Swordfish and My Girlfriend Had The Seafood Pasta Paired With Simi Pinot Noir...Both Out Of This World...We Even Had Room For Dessert...

Overall An Amazing Night Will Be Coming Back..You Got Raving Fans Now!!!
The lunch combo is a great deal. It is very reasonably priced for the options available. I had lobster bisque and salmon club for $12! WHAT A STEAL!! The bread basket had amazing selection of wheat, white, and a fruity bread/rolls. YUMM! The service was quick. It was quiet and had plenty of space.
Four of us went before a Celtics game for dinner. We sat in the bar area, our waitress very attentive and knowledgeable. We asked her about a few entrees and she was honest in her opinions of what she felt was the best dish. We each had something different and everyone was very pleased with their choices. I would definitely go back.
