North 26 Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful experience from the warm enthusiastic welcoming with coat taken to the friendly wait staff to the incredibly delicious food. Went for Food Pantry fund raising brunch. Loved the seafood sausage, artichoke quiche and apple bignet with caramel sauce.
We came here on a quiet Sunday evening. We were literally the only people in the restaurant besides a few staffers. Hence, we received top notch service at North 26. Parking was relatively convenient, near a sidestreet. The food was excellent, we ordered "appetizer"-esque dishes only: calamari, popcorn shrimp, tuna tartar, mussels, lobster rolls, and sauteed mushrooms. DELICIOUS!
Went with a group of girlfriends for a Dessert-for-Lunch celebration and this was absolutely perfect! The service was outstanding, the desserts were each more beautiful (and delicious!) than the prior one. The cappucino was first rate and the atmosphere were perfect. Could not have personally orchestrated a better day.
Although right in the middle of everything North 26 has quiet spaces to enjoy a drink and good food presented elegantly by an attentive waitstaff. A recent renovation has improved the ambiance while retaining the great view of the activity in the outside streetscape. This is my third visit and I have not been disappointed.
I went here with my boyfriend and 2 other couples. We got a seat right in the window facing Faneuil hall. It was a perfect evening including the great service by our waiter. It was a while ago so I do not remember his name, but he was very attentive and made the whole evening very memorable. I cannot wait to go back again soon!
We decided to try this establishment based on the "small plate" concept and liked the convenient location. I had also been very familiar with the past restaurants in the Millenium and was hoping for a similiar level of service. Regrettably, the service can best be described as awful. An indifferent waiter, unattantive bus staff and the most horiffic wine service ever expereinced. Even though it was not very busy for a Saturday night, each request and order was treated like an inconvenience and even keeping water glasses reasonbly full seems to be a chore. The food was fairly good and the hostess tried to save the day by pitching in as best she could (which is why there are 2 stars and not one above). There are better places to patronize.
The restaurant is really nice inside. It's right across the street from fanueil hall. We chose it thinking it would be better than some of the chain restaurants in fanueil hall, but it really wasn't. The food was good, but not great. The recommendations of the waiter all turned out to be the worst dishes. I would recommend it for the atmosphere, but not the food.
The menu was eclectic and varied. Our table was full of the various dishes from the Restaurant Week menu and I was very satisfied by the wonderful selections. Other places offer 1-3 items per course. Thank you for being realistic about the kinds of things people would like to try.
We had a group of 5 girls meet at North 26 for RW dinner. The service was great - they knew our name without referring to their list - they had our table set up and ready when we arrived, the hostess was very friendly and knowledgeable. Even the bread plate was notable - warm rolls and mini muffins. We chose mostly seafood dishes, mussels, clams and chowder for apps - everyone enjoyed thoroughly. I chose the seafood stew and really enjoyed it - nice mix of clams, mussels, lobster, squid and chorico with bread for dipping. I would definitely recommend North 26!
I recently went to the restaurant for the first time during restaurant week as the menu sounded great. However, I don't think the restaurant was equipped to handle the volume. We waited too long for drinks, our waiter never brought us water, we had to flag down other waiters. Our food was cold, I believe it is made upstairs and then sits downstairs for the waiters to grab and bring to the table. I walked by that area and saw many entrees sitting on trays waiting, with no heat lamps. My friend ordered the scallop appetizer which was a joke. It was too small for an app, it had 3 dime size scallops with a 1/4 cup of arugula. We were going to share our appetizers to try the other, but there wasn't enough for one!
Food was excellent. The wait staff was a little awkward and I felt a little rushed, but overall the atmosphere, location and food was very good. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. I went for restaurant week and was able to try a lot of different choices between my boyfriend and I. The steamed mussels and stuffed clams were unbelievable. I would recommend this place for a date or special occasion.
Great location – right by Quincy Market! I went for restaurant week. I had never been here before but what attracted me to this restaurant was the large number of choices they had on their restaurant week menu. I was not disappointed with my selections either! My favorite part was the dessert. A chocolate mousse tort. I would definitely dine there again.
My wife and I went there, thought the place was very nice, but ran into some speed bumps. Service was outstanding but the food fell short of par. It took a while for our food to come. My dck was cooked med rare inside bu eh outside was burnt. My stuffed calms were not hot, and my wifes meal was thrown together. The flavors did not pair well. I think they were having an off night. The wait staff did come over and offer us a coupon to return due to the issues we had. I think I may go back in time.
The portions for restaurant week were very good and the food tasted great. However, some of the tables were really close together and awkward for talking. Tap beer (Newcastle) is served in a glass that, I believe, is 10 oz (tall skinny with 1" thick bottom) and was $5.50. Also, I thought that writing in the notes section when making the reservations that it was our anniversary that we would be seated in a booth, but that didn't happen (and I think there was 1 open). Didn't love it, didn't hate it.
Had people in from our NY office wanted a quiet place to talk but an upbeat place to eat. They sat us in a great table inside by the window. So we had the luxury of air conditioning and the lively atmosphere of a sunny Fanuel Hall day right across the street. Everyone thought the food was delicious. Cannot ask for more than that. Very pleased.
Our waiter was awesome, very energetic. Pros: excellent food ( i had the cheesecake with candied bacon, pork entree and spinach salad app) Great value for Rest Week! Strong drinks. Really well done food. Cons: No house-stuffed blue cheese olives were available as the menu stated for my North 26 martini. I had to ask for olives and there were just pimientos in them. I will definately be back here and not just during RW!
We ate at the restaurant during Restaurant week and had a truly delicious 3-course menu. Highlights of the dinner were the clam 'stuffies" , a perfectly prepared Cod and two amazing desserts. The Salted Caramel Cheesecake came with a divine piece of candied bacon and the S'mores paired the most delicious molten chocolate cake with homemade marshmallows and Graham crackers. We also loved the location - our table sat facing an open window overlooking Faneuil Hall. It made for great people watching. Sadly, the service left much to be desired. The wait staff was friendly but inattentive. The wait between courses was exceptionally long and we weren't asked if we wanted another drink until long after our glasses were emptied.
We sat by the open window which was very nice on a late summer day. Did not realize how large the restaurant was until we left via the hotel. Sword fish was excellent! the corn relish was bland.Lobster deviled eggs left me wondering where the lobster was. Also bland. Server was very attentive and helpful with our choices. Drinks impressive. I would return for a dinner in the future.
Understaffed from the begining, the hostess was making sure someone was around, the manager would walk through and crack a joke but no one filled waters till we asked. getting a drink was harder. fun full menu ready to please, different size portions depending on the item, duck was great, pork not so much. dining room beautiful and convienient near quincy market. with more staff it could be amazing, effort from support team was there, not so much from the actual server.
This was my first time at this restaurant and I could not have been more impressed. I showed up early and sat at the bar waiting for my friend. By the time she came, we decided to stay at the bar because our bartender and the people sitting around us were so friendly! The food was unbelievable, the staff knowledgeable and attentive but not on top of you, and the drinks were amazing. We could not have been happier with our entire experience and I will definately be back.
Good food and right in the middle of the "scene" downtown which has its advantages (vibe and people watching) and disadvantges (noise from the street was overwhelming at times especially with the windows of the restaurant open). The food selection was great - my wife and enjoyed the variety and our two picky teenagers found something that thyey liked. Overall I would recommend it and would go back again.
