We went there on a snowy evening, so it was not very busy. We were given a table next to one of the fireplaces, as were most of the guests that evening. The food was great and the staff attentive, but not in the way. Warm popovers were a welcome starter. Our entrees came with grilled vegetables which were crisp and tasty. The flank steak was delicious as well.
This is a great place for special occasions. They have plenty of room for larger groups as well.
The food was pretty good but not the quality you would expect for the price you pay. Individual sodas are 3.50 each-no refills. Very quiet restaurant.
Excellent food and ambiance. Will definitely return!
This is a very good restaurant. We have been enjoying the last 10 years
WOW! Best high quality Brunch BUFFET I've had in decades! Lots of food options and all are DELICIOUS FOODS! I recently found out Normandie Farms did a Sunday brunch buffet!!! Heard they had many options of high quality offerings and that they would offer an even more extensive array of foods for New Years Day Brunch. I hear that their usual Sunday brunch price is a bit less than the special holiday New Year's brunch price, yet it was well worth it.
NORMANDIE FARMS DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!!
My husband and I celebrated our 2019 New Year's Day 26th Anniversary there and LOVED the Foodie experience! Equally impressive was their friendly and very attentive (yet not intrusive) staff. There were many patrons, yet you felt like they wait staff was fully aware of you...your main water and 2 other wait staff members pleasantly refilled water, drinks, coffee timely and unobtrusively.
The restaurant has a nice quaint French provincial intimate home several rooms all separated by wide connecting doors allowing an open airy feel but low noise. They can accommodate a large amount of people and it was full for New Year's Day brunch, yet still a nice mellow ambiance that allowed for private conversations and an intimate dining experience to go with the delectable food. Now that we know of its greatness, we'll definitely be going back there for Sunday brunches!
Overpriced food especially the filet. Tasted as if it was tenderized but it was tough. The filet and the veal covered with thick gravy; nothing French about this food. Pleasant but grudging service.
What a wonderful New Year's Eve. The restaurant was humming, food great, just a very nice evening. Wonderful fireplaces!
Our family favorite for 50 years, Normandie Farm's warmth and elegance always evoke great memories. Fireplace, piping hot popovers, delicious menu choices, hard-to-resist desserts plus excellent service - what more could we ask for. We had to drive through thick fog to get there, but definitely worth it!
This was our second straight family Christmas dinner at Normandie Farms. We had a great time. Everything was excellent service and food. We will be back next year.
Our family had the Christmas day Buffet dinner and it was wonderful! Large selection of meats, wonderful salmon, amazing salads, pasta, vegetables, rice, cranberry and disserts. We so enjoyed ourselves that we lingered after dinner enjoying the most delicious peppermint tea. For our family, this restaurant is a keeper.
I like it especially because my grandson can choose whatever he wants from the buffet. But that's what appeals to be, too -- the great variety of choices -- and one can take a little bit of a lot of them. All my choices were classically prepared and mind of the fine restaurants of the past. The atmosphere is bright and seasonal -- and the noise is very moderate (the high ceiling in the main room helps. I've never seen such a variety of desserts. And, of course, the popovers. In short, a step back into a nostalgic past.
May come back another time, but never again on Christmas. Had reservations for 5 pm and was told it would be a 10-15 wait. That's fine. But then overheard the host say that people had been sitting at tables since 1:00 and 2:00 PM! Why is this allowed when the hostess stand and entrance was crowded with people?!? Stood on the steps to notice no menus in hand - they were ONLY serving buffet style food for over $50 pp. We left! Open Table - please feel free to deduct the points you granted me from my account. We definitely did not stay. Merry Christmas!
We went for the Christmas day buffet. It was very very good. Lotsa variety and good quality, especially all the main dishes, lamb stew, salmon, beef stroganoff, turkey, roast beef. Plenty of great side dishes and the popover bread. Desserts were high quality. One of the best buffets I've ever been to. Service was good and friendly. Very professional and well run restaurant especially considering the size. Even though it was packed and pleasantly hectic, it was rather intimate and quiet at the table - you couple have an easy normal level conversation. The old french country inn ambiance is refreshing - a nice happy throwback. I liked it a lot. And the food is really good.
I had brunch the food was wonderful but noise level bad people brought their kids and they were running all over disrupting other people trying to have their meal in peace
Third year we have celebrated Christmas Day here. Brunch buffet is great. Don't expect ultra fancy. This place is a gem that serves very well prepared traditional food in a festive atmosphere. Will be returning next holiday. From liver pate to veal marsala, all is very flavorful and enjoyable. Popovers are still wonderful gems! :) Congrats!
We really enjoyed ourselves. It’s a real throwback in time. Classic, great service. Beautiful dining rooms. Classic French fare. And we were able to head to the bar for live music (open mic night). A great way to top off the meal.
Would have rated it 5 stars if the dining room had been a bit warmer. Cool temps hard for us older folks. But we sat near the fireplace so that helped.
the place is fantastic and the restaurant has a great tradition. It needs a renovation, more cleaning of the carpets and walls. the rooms look a little careless
Everything was great.
Fun and quite enjoyable.
Good French food.
However if you booked through Opentable, make sure Normandie Farms credit the points to your account. Been here a couple of times and each time they forget to credit the points to my account.
Food was fabulous and atmosphere festive (DEC). The only negative was that the coffee didn’t “keep coming” and it wasn’t very/that hot. Price is relative - to me it’s a splurge that’s worth it given quantity, variety, and quality. And a “seating” runs for several hours so there’s no pressure to eat and run. One did have to wait in line to get food, but most times the wait wasn’t excessive.
Beautiful space, reliable and responsive staff for big party, delicious food, and a great space for families.
Excellent service and food. We both enjoyed the time that we spent at Normandie Farm.
A very pleasant place for a quiet lunch or dinner.
Old School elegant with a menu to match. The music acts at the bar make it really exceptional.
We had a wonderful experience. The staff was responsive and polite. The food was fresh and tasted great. I even got a small cake.
The decor was lovely for the holidays and the food was wonderful.
The hostess went out of her way to assist us with one of our party who had mobility issues.
Food was great, the rest was something else.
Made reservations on line, 4 people, Saturday,Dec 1,2018 at 12:30pm. Arrived about 12:25, in pouring rain, the whole parking lot was full, with some overflow of cars on the service road in the back. That's where we had to park as even the few handicapped spaces at the front were taken. We managed to shuffle back-I need a cane for walking-and got into the building where a Christmas party seemed to be in full swing. The receptionist lady informed me that the whole restaurant had been rented out to the merry group and she had no table for us. She acknowledged our reservation, also that it was confirmed and appeared sympathetic to my growing distress but stated that she could not help us.It is to note that Friday I'd received an email from the restaurant, confirming the reservation, with no indication online of the party taking over the entire restaurant At this point a nice gentleman, I assume a member of the management , came by and assured us that a table will be found in the bar. He, with helpers set up a table for the four of us, and pretty soon we had a chance to browse our menus. The food and service was great but the room was cold. augmented by the furiously spinning large ceiling fans. The only redeeming feature was the low decibel noise level.
I realise that we should be grateful to finally having been seated but I feel somehow we should have been alerted to the Christmas party, so we could have opted for booking a different time , also avoiding some physical and emotional stress.Well, better luck next time-hopefully.
Christmas Brunch for my Great Grandmother
Worthwhile if you live in the area, and if you don't require sitting down to eat. The old wicker chairs are uncomfortable because the wicker seats have over the years begun to sag, which means that the frame of the seat begins to cut the circulation off in your legs, and after a while you find that you need to get up and switch chairs, only to find that the new chair also has a sunken wicker seat, so that frame also begins cutting off circulation in your legs. So then you contemplate standing up and eating at your table, but realize that everyone would be looking at you a bit funny, so you simply endure the discomfort, and are anxious to get the check so you can transfer to a nice comfortable automobile seat. Fortunately, I was dining with a delightful and fascinating conversationalist, which made the discomfort bearable.
Very lovely experience
Went for Thanksgiving buffet. What a huge array of food!! and all of it delicious. The table service was quick and courteous. We ate there last year for a birthday. Such good food. Their popovers are not to be skipped. They are served hot from the oven and are huge!
Food was great on Thanksgiving though had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated for our reservation.
It was probably overbooked. Still I/we enjoyed our Thanksgiving meal.
Obviously they overbooked💣💣💣💣. We had a reservation for 5:00 and when we arrived timely, they said we will call you when your table is ready, you have 8 tables in front of you. WHAT! The food was superb, the service was Terrible. I will cross Normandie Farm off my list. We having been customers since 1969 when we moved to Potomac. Bad, bad management.
We enjoyed the Thanksgiving buffet, as we have in past years. Excellent variety, well-prepared. Management kept the buffet tables well-stocked.
They significantly overbooked for Thanksgiving. It felt like a country kitchen or something. The entrance by the maitre de was packed with people the entire afternoon waiting to be seated. Also the food was ok but not great.
Excellent attentive service; comfortable atmosphere
Nice restaurant - over many years - but, not so good on this occasion
