We ate here on our last night at the Fairmont Orchid and immediately regretted not having eaten here sooner so that we could look forward to coming back. Red dragon roll was outstanding as were the steaks and the pureed potatoes. Loved my dessert, which was an Asian pear tart with purple sweet potato ice cream - delicious and just sweet enough. First rate food.
Sushi bar was awesome, food was outstanding, service was good. ...
I recommend the all you can eat sushi rolls and sashimi. Order any sushi rolls on the menu and the sashimi consists of 5 fish. They are Tuna, Salmon, Kempachi, Ono, and Local Snapper. It comes with bread and butter, Miso soup, and ice cream. It's $80 per person but it would cost much more to order sashimi and rolls individually. This is the best value for serious fish lovers.
Great food paired with great service made for an incredible first night on the Big Island!
The garden setting is very nice. The service was great. The food was good but it was better last year.
Service very attentive. Food ok but tends to over cooked ( both steak and fish) so be careful there. Biggest problem was fighting all the flies for our food. I’m not talking we saw a fly but swarms around us as soon as our food was delivered. We were both waving our arms around while shoveling our food down as fast as possible. Not a pleasant experience. If I had hosted a dinner party like this I would have been humiliated.
This was overall a strange experience to say the least. First off, this is the same space in the hotel in which they serve their breakfast buffet, which is a great buffet. But by night, it turns into an odd setup. They seat all of the tables outside, which is great. The inside of the restaurant (including the sushi bar) has all of its light ups at 100%, so there is no ambience at the sushi bar or anywhere else inside. Our server, though nice, greeted us with “Hi. Our specials today are blah blah blah”, no name, no “how are you”, nothing, which made the service seem very mechanical. When I asked if they served the snapper nigiri with anything on top such as yuzu gosho, I got a confused look from our server and a response of “no, not at all”, as if this would somehow ruin the sushi. We ordered wine, were both given tastes (usually the person who orders tastes), and then poured into cheap wine goblets you might find at a Macaroni Grill. The rolls were decent and the fish was fresh, but we ordered the truffled sautéed mushrooms as a side and they came out soggy and flavorless. Our wine glasses were refilled just once, they tried to clear our plates even though we still had food left on them, and then we could not locate our server when it was time for the check. Overall, the whole experience was strange. Would recommend trying the other restaurant on the property for dinner instead.
My wife and I, staying at the Fairmont hotel, had our first meal at Norio's. We enjoyed the food but warn you that the Calamari is sweetened with a brown sauce so be certain that you want a sweetened calamari if your order that as an appetizer. Our sushi was excellent and the scallops were special.
All in all a nice meal in an outdoor setting on a somewhat hot night.
A really great restaurant!! The specialty roll was one of the best I’ve ever had. The wahu was terrific. The only downside was our date was ruined by the guy sitting next us. Loud, obnoxious and laughed like Muttley the dog from the Wacky Racers cartoon. But that’s not the restaurants fault.
Good food, excellent service and beautiful atmosphere.
Sushi was really not good. Fortunately, our server was very nice and the setting was lovely.
One of our favorite restaurants on the Island , maybe the best sushi of all, and great great service , such nice pleasant wait staff.
Server was way below average for the value of the food. Overpriced!
Norio's is good but not great. The outdoor seating and ambiance was very good but the sushi was just ok for me. We did the all you can eat sushi and tried 6 different rolls + a sashimi app. The quality of the fish was good but the flavors just didn't blow me away. They also take a little while to bring the sushi out which forces you to fill up quickly and probably not get your money's worth. For the price, I would try some place else on the island instead of going back to Norio's again. Some of the entrees at the other tables looked really solid though so maybe we just got the wrong thing.
It wasn’t very good. Price is too high for quality of food you get. Disappointed.
Amazing Calamari on top of a great visit.
We loved the sushi and the service...it took awhile but that was the only minor issue.
We will be back!
Wonderful service, delicious fresh ginger ale, excellent sushi
Very expensive for a crowded indoor dining experience in Kona.
We did the all-you-can-eat sushi option for dinner. We didn't love every single roll (we took some risks with our tastes we wouldn't have if we were paying by the item), but they were all very high quality. The server was attentive, friendly, and helpful. This meal felt like the best value we've had at the Fairmont.
Had a great time, as usual! Excellent Sushi and wonderful service. Very family friendly. Highly recommend if you love fresh, quality sushi!
Was looking forward to the Sushi/Sashimi but was disappointed. The sushi was falling apart and was not of the highest quality (rice, fillings); the Sashimi was decent but the cuts were not always good (sinew; too thick). The green tea bread was a rare exception as it was unique and delicious.
The service was excellent and it had a nice ambiance, but we were overall disappointed, especially given this is at a 5-star Fairmont Hotel.
Did the unlimited sushi. Great coconut mojito as well. Great service. Good food.
Great place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Great Service and food. One of the best sushi meals I have ever had and the filet was great as well. Can’t go wrong with this place.
Enjoyed the outdoor seating at this hotel restaurant, although slightly chilly that evening.
Great service, sushi was very good.
Sushi preparation could be crisper
Birthday dinner was great.
Everything was outstanding! And Lexa was awesome! We will def be back
The food was amazing! I had the petite filets and they were superb. My husband had the pork. It was the most amazing pork I've ever tasted. It actually melted in my mouth. So good!
Great setting, food was excellent.
Food was very good, service was excellent. The occasion was our anniversary and the location was perfect. Wait staff very engaging and personable. Prices were reasonable. Would definitely go again.
Very nice ambiance, but the yellow snapper was so-so. The mini filet mignon was very good. Service was very good
Always amazing, have been several times-
Really wanted to like this place. Brown’s, the other higher end restaurant st the Fairmont Orchid, was a great experience. Norio’s, to be fair, had good service, great ambiance (it is at the beach, after all), but the food just didn’t measure up. Presentation was fine, but the food just really didn’t stand out in the way a fine dining restaurant experience should. I’d give them another chance, possibly, but warily.
Your food was not great, very bad and we both hot sick ... service was terrible
They had a mandatory Christmas buffet, for double the normal price of a meal, but did not tell us until we arrived. At that point, all other restaurants in the hotel and area were fully booked! The food was terrible too!
Made a reservation for christmas dinner. When we arrived, regular restaurant closed, forced to pay for buffet and no other available place to eat. We do not eat $70 worth of food at one sitting. Very disappointed that I was not made aware of this when I made reservetions months ahead of time. Terrible service and no recourse from a 5 star resort
We chose the $55 eat as much sushi as you like option. It was excellent. We ate there with our two teenage daughters who had great fun choosing the different sushi flavours. The staff were great and attentive. A great evening and would recommend.
Poor service, delayed in seating time even with reservation. food was ok.
100% satisfied. All of the staff were great. Our server, Chelsea, greatly added to the overall experience. She is an important asset to the restaurant.
