Nora Kabob Ratings and Reviews
We had a reservation and arrived right about on time. The place was backed and had a fair number of people waiting. I went over to check with someone who seemed in charge and saw my name was about number three or four on a list which I assume were reservations. We were told it would be about 10 or 15 minutes. Right! I could look across all the tables and except for one table for two, no other parties seemed close to be ready to depart. Unfortunately, we were a party of 4, so the 'table for two' wasn't going to help us. After about 15 minutes, we just left and went down the highway to Ernesto's where, without a reservation, we did get seated in 10 minutes.
We really enjoyed Nora's the last time we were there, but this time was a total bust. That's why this may seem like an inconsistent review - I would not have rated all those factors but I could not submit this review without checking the stars. And yes, I have recommended it to others, but if I do again, I will warn them about reservations.
Great experience just wish they knew about my open table reservation. Apparently it was never received by Noras from Open Table (I even showed the manager my confirmation email from OpenTable - this is not the first time this happened with Noras). Nevertheless they were able to accommodate my party but it’s unsettling that I went thru the trouble of making a reservation for it to be lost.
Wonderful food! I got the lamb gyro and it was great. They also have good sangria. It’s a small space so make reservations if you have a large group or going during peak dinner time. We made reservations and it was great to walk in and see a reserved table for us.
What can we say? We love Nora’s Kabob! Tonight we ordered the Saffron Salamn Kabob, the Pom Beef Kabob, and the smoked eggplant appetizer. Had a Russian beer and the dry red Armenian wine. All delicious, as usual. The only thing they can improve on is dessert...never had one that we liked. EVERYTHING ELSE IS ALWAYS DELICIOUS and the portions are generous, price reasonable. Fresh ingredients, friendly and efficient service...see you soon!
Consistently excellent and one of our favorite restaurants. They need more tables and a larger space. Be prepared to have issues parking if you are coming on a weekend night.
Our server recommended the grilled octopus, when I commented that I had read about it in a previous review and was intrigued. It was pricey but excellent. Try it!
Generous meal- I often get two meals out of my dinner entree.
Nora's has become our casual go-to place for a quick and delicious dinner. We love the trio appetizer and all the various kabob combos. We have been there 8-10 times in the last year, and every time is great. The food is really good, you can watch it being prepared in the open kitchen, and there is a lot of it.
No surprise that the kabobs were superb at Nora's Kabob but the surprise of the night was the grilled octopus. The octopus made a believer of my friend who would have no part of it at first. I ordered it as an appetizer anyway. It is a large portion, an entrée for most people. My friend had a small taste whereupon I lost half my serving to her. It's the best I ever had and would have paid twice the price at Ouzo Bay in Baltimore - no slouch of a restaurant. My suggestion for those who don't care for the taste of cucumber is to tell the server in advance because it normally comes with a lot of diced cucumber on top. I detest cucumber!
The Kabobs feature tender meats. I would have liked some sauce for the very Basamati dry rice, perhaps something like soy, although that would be a bit out of place.
I am wary of shopping center restaurants but Nora's is an exception and we will be back.
We enjoyed a casual Sunday evening dinner. Looking around at some of the other tables, we saw that portions were very generous so the two of us decided to split a salad and a chicken and beef kabob platter. My husband had soup. Even so, we took food home! The chicken and beef were delicious. We had an absolutely wonderful chopped kale, carrot, and broccoli salad with dried cherries and a lemon vinaigrette. They should consider putting it on the regular menu. Service was prompt and pleasant.
Although in a strip mall this restaurant is light and pleasant inside. Feels very clean and has reasonable ambiance. Service was friendly and efficient. We had chicken kebabs and falafel wrap. Both were well presented and delicious. There is a good selection of desserts. The chocolate creme brulee was very good. It has an interesting selection of beers, did not check out the wine much. Looking forward to going back.
The food was really delicious. We enjoyed the smoky eggplant dip and the kabobs. I would say that the server was a bit distracted with what could have been family or close friends. He spent a lot of time another table, and we had to wave him down for water or to take our order. No biggie.
On Friday evening, despite showing up on time, there was no reserved table. After 10 minutes and no seating, when I spoke to the hostess to inquire about when my party of three would be seated, I was told "they couldn't say--the restaurant business is unpredictable." We will not return.
We first went to Nora's a couple times last year, and decided to go back during Howard County's Restaurant Week. While the menu was limited (though you *could* order off the full menu), the choices were varied (lamb, seafood, steak & chicken), and the food was excellent. Portions are reasonable. (I had no leftovers, but my wife did.) The service was also great. There is not a lot of seating, so I would recommend reservations, especially for special events. All in all, you may not notice this place unless you're looking for it, but it's definitely worth looking for.
Nice small comfortable neighborhood place. Not fancy, really good fresh well prepared food. Had some of the best salmon I've ever had. The veggie kabob, was wonderful. Service was quick and friendly. It gets busy and a little noisy, but still very pleasant. We've been taking out since they opened and this was the first sit down diviner there . Definitely will come again.
I love the relaxed feel of this place even though it was small like a pizza shop. I am definitely coming back to try more items and we will also be using their take out service. The traditional gyro was great. We started with calamari and the 3 types of dips which went over like a big hit. Service was good and friendly, the red wine I had was affordable."
Nora Kabob isn't a traditional restaurant. There is a takeout counter with a few tables in front. The food was delicious. However, the service wasn't the best as it really isn't a sit down restaurant. What was most irritating was that the staff was completely unaware that OpenTable existed. I had to wait several weeks to get my OpenTable points.
This is a small restaurant with just a few tables and seems to do mostly takeout. I was impressed by the waiters attention to us and eagerness to help. As the name implies it is a kebob place and has the standard fare. The meat quality was excellent. The place was very clean and the service fast.
I rated it quiet high because it was much better than I would expect from a kebob place in a strip mall.
