New Years Eve. Good food. Enjoyable dinner.
Always a treat. Consistently delicious food fairly priced and excellent service.
Outstanding food and excellent cocktails and wine/beer choices. Brian continues to deliver year after year. If you haven’t found the Nook yet you should!
Another great meal and birthday celebration with friends. Food is always delicious and the staff is very friendly and efficient.
Great, comfortable, neighborhood spot; excellent food
I never have to worry about the quality of the food or service when I take a friend to Nook. I have only experienced the best in professional but friendly service, and delicious, well prepared meals.
Really good little place. Attentive wait staff, interesting menu options, great prix fix meal.
Showed up at 7:30 with a reservation. Was seated immediately. Had a good time!
Never fails to be very good. 4 people all thrilled with their choices
everything just tasted great! I had the 3 course meal of pork loin, progrante persimmon salad, and lemon cake for desert. It was worth the price! everything tasted wonderful! My friend had burger with very tasty fries. I don't eat burgers much but couldn't get enough after I had a taste of my friends.
This is our neighborhood gem indeed. Friendly, helpful staff, great food.
This was a repeat visit for me. In my experience, you go where you feel most at home and where you know you'll have a good experience. Nook is that for me. Plus consistently very good food and friendly service.
I'll be back!
Excellent place! I was visiting from Texas and my reservation at another restaurant got cancelled last minute but The Nook came right in clutch! We arrived a few minutes early but the manager made sure my friend and I were well taken care of! I loved the food, the drinks and the environment of it all! Great place!
We come quite often. The food is good, the neighborhood atmosphere is lovely, friendly, the price is moderate, the service is great. It's always a pleasure. My husband loves the key lime pie especially and the shrimp and grits!
Hidden gem. Unpretentious, local, delicious. Have a great time every time I come. Shrimp and grits are not to be missed!
One of the most consistently delicious meals anywhere.
Until 4 months ago...I never knew this restaurant existed and I have lived in the neighborhood for 18 years… Finding this place is like finding a real gem!
Very good local restaurant with a creative chef. It's the kind of place that you add to your list of comfortable, reasonable places that you'll return to regularly. They even have a very attractively priced prix fixe, three-course dinner on Sunday nights. We didn't try the cocktails but they looked like a lot of fun. They could raise the bar a bit on their wines by the glass.
This is a neighborhood gem with consistently delicious food, seasonal changes on menus, particularly good produce, and I’ve never had a meal that disappointed.
Food and service are always first class and the drinks are delicious.
Hadn't been here in years, but happy to see it was still outstanding despite its odd hidden location in a Westside strip mall. Their own homemade hummus appetizer was quite amazing and their simple house specialty, Chicken Paillard, was deceptively terrific. It is aptly names, so it is a bit cramped, but a great spot if you want to chat with your neighboring diners. Gets very loud when filled.
Wonderful dishes with a New Orleans flare—shrimp and grits, chicken paillard, Brussels sprouts all yummy as are the Sunday dinners. Don’t let the mini-mall location dissuade you. Once inside you’ll love the modern, inviting ambience.
I have been here multiple times, but it has been over a year since my last visit. Everything was great during my prior visits, so I brought my friend from overseas to here this time thinking that this would be perfect option for someone who is only spending one night in LA. If the burger in the past was a 10 out of 10, the one that I had this time is a 6.5 out of 10. There were too much vinegar in caramelized onion and the onion piece were at least two times too big. Making it not only the taste of the onion not complimenting the burger, also the size doesn't go well.
Also, the fries that came with the burger were quite dry as well. You could tell that it's too dry by looking at it. I can't believe that they would still bring that to the table.
Lastly, my husband felt that the pork chop was too dry as well.
We went to the Nook Bistro on a weeknight and it was a great little meal! My picky partner had a great time with the Caesar salad and chicken entree, while I had some steak. Then we had a coupon for a free desert, but the chocolate pot de creme stole the show!
We went here for dinner based solely on the OpenTable reviews. When we pulled into the strip mall parking lot, we were a bit confused and a tad worried. But nestled in the corner "nook" of the lot was a hidden gem! Immediately upon entering you are transported away from the loud hustle-bustle of Santa Monica Blvd. The restaurant is clean and peaceful. We were warmly greeted and seated at a table of our choice. The server was knowledgeable about the cocktails and the menu and was very nice. We were well taken care of by him and the additional staff who brought the food out. The menu options worked well and easily accommodated our gluten-free vegetarian! We had a long conversation going on and never felt rushed to finish. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food, it was delicious! We especially enjoyed the starter of roasted cauliflower and pesto aoli. The pork chop and salmon were perfectly cooked. The brown rice bowl could have used some more unique flavors to help it stand out. We will happily return.
This restaurant has consistently good cuisine with courteous prompt service. The New Zealand green lipped mussels are excellent.
Always great food and service. The burger is still my LA favorite.
We've been here a few times and it never disappoints! My husband got the Sunday dinner which is a great value and I ordered the chicken paillard, which was delicious and bright/Briny from the lemon and capers. The Sunday dinner included a corn succotash with bacon and braised pork should we- both were delicious. The dessert with Sunday dinner was ok- it wasn't memorable, especially since I can't remember what it was. Overall a good experience and we will be back!
Located in a nondescript corner of a strip mall, it far outshines it's neighbors there, but DO NOT let that discourage you. This is a gem!
I have been a customer at Nook since the first 5 months they were open. That was I thinks 14 years ago. It is my go to spot for a relaxing meal (whether solo or with others), always wonderful food (blackened salmon, hanger steak, nook burger, chicken Paillard) on and on. The starterts are great (crispy brussel sprouts, charred cauliflower, an insane version of mac and cheese), service cannot be beat, yes I like it. Chef Andy reinvents old stand bys, and always looks for the next new menu item...and they all work. Brian is always on top of what is going on, and I have not yet see things running less than smooth. What else can I say.
Always love this spot. Great food options for everyone. Interesting wine selection. Very helpful knowledgeable staff.
Had a relaxed business meal here with two colleagues. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I had shrimp w/ grits. Another in my party had short ribs; both were excellent. The desserts are pretty awesome, too. We had Key Lime pie and banana/chocolate bread pudding. Be advised though, the place is a little hard to find. It is tucked into the corner of a strip mall where you might not see it (hence the name "Nook").
Always amazing food and service. Never disappoints.
Owner, Brian, works hard, via email and in person, to make his restaurant a go-to occasion.
Hidden in a corner of a strip mall that belongs in a much better location because it is a good restaurant.
Sunday 3-course dinner special is $25!!
The Nook is a cozy neighborhood restaurant that is always dependable. They have interesting salads and appetizers. The menu stays pretty much the same but the chicken paillard, the Nook burger and the scallops are quite good.. they have a variety of desserts with the Key Lime Pie being a stand out.
Great service, great food selection, overall great find!!
Love this place for its food, service and low noise level. Most places are too loud to allow conversation.
One of our go to places! Always friendly and accommodating, the food is consistently good!
One of our favorites. Sunday supper, Laundry Day, Happy hour at the communal table as well as the basic menu. Brian is always welcoming and the service is excellent.
Very good food and value
