What a terrific find for drinks, tasty beef carpaccio and smokes salmon platter! The bread served at the table along with the fresh spreadable butter was fantastic. Oh, did I happen to mention the noteworthy French onion soup? It was in the top five on my culinary list all time. Arrived at the table very hot and was not salty at all!!! I was delightfully surprised. I think you will be too....
We came here for Valentine’s Day dinner. It was a prefixe menu for $85 a person. We were seated by the window which was nice. The service through the first course to the entrée was very good. After that it went downhill. We were supposed to get a second champagne cocktail and we asked for it twice but never received it. We timed how long it took from our entrée to get our dessert and it was 45 minutes before the waiter came again. We saw customers come and be seated and get through their entrée before we got served dessert. I’m guessing they ran out of dessert cups and had to make them again but it would have been nice to be informed of that.
Now in regards to the food, the first entrée was a seafood tartlet. It was made of flaky pastry and was quite good but was the size of a 2.5 inch square. Next came the salad with onion soup. The cup the onion soup came in was so small that my husband thought it was the salad dressing. It was about the size of a small tea cup that your child will use to the play tea. It was different in that it was thicker and sweeter than normal French onion soup. My husband and daughter had the scallops with crab risotto and I had the lamb. They forgot to ask me how I wanted my lamb but luckily I like it medium rare which was the way it was served.Both my daughter and husband liked the scallops but the crab risotto was OK. Desert was white and dark chocolate cups with hazelnut ice cream inside which was also quite good. All in all, I would have given a better score if the wait between the entrée and dessert wasn’t almost an hour long or at least if the waiter would’ve came and checked on us. Second, asking for a drink twice and not getting it is not good. Third, other than the entrée and dessert were quite good, I do not believe the meal was worth $85 a person.
First time here, table for 2. Samuel was an amazing server, matched only by the Caesar salads to start followed by moules and frites and special, swordfish. Wow! Expert preparation on every level. And oh, the dinner rolls are unique and worth having more than one. Great evening!
Popped in for dinner; not crowded. Owner was present, very friendly and welcoming, and took our order. The help staff was also extremely attentive and friendly. Food was delicious; European/fancy without being pretentious. Cozy and quiet enough to be able converse easily.
Been there many times and love the food. But this time around services was off. Sloppy delivery of the food, missed orders and basically felt like they were understaffed to provide quality service at the level you would expect for a restaurant that charge like they do. Will think twice before we go back.
Very disappointed in my dinner the other night. Have been here several times, and ordered the mussels. Always good in the past. This time, the mussels’ texture was mushy and unappetizing. Should have sent them back, but didn’t. The table next to us also ordered mussels, and barely touched them. May return to the restaurant sometime, but will definitely change up my order!
We took my son and daughter-in-law to Nonni's just before they left for home after the holidays. They kids had the fresh salmon plate and a ceasar salad. The salmon looked delicious, and they enjoyed sharing both dishes. My husband had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich, and I had my usual, the Chiccone chicken salad. The sandwiches are large and freshly prepared, served warm with fries or salad. We ended up taking half of our sandwiches home for another lunch. We live in Pleasanton, and if we're going out to lunch, Nonni's is the place. We've been there for dinner with friends, too. You can't beat it for a delicious meal.
We walked in and were taken back...wasn’t sure we were in the Bistro so highly rated. No table cloth etc. place looked pretty casual.
Wow were we blown away. The wine list was great. Had an amazing NZ saugvignon blanc. The food. Yummo. Scallops w crab risotto. Amazing. Wish we lived closer
This was one of the worst experience I've had in a restaurant. There were 3 of us and we arrived early on New Year's Eve for our reservation and was seated immediately. However, we were then presented with a single fixed price menu. Neither Open Table nor the restaurant ever indicated that they would only have a fixed price menu, and it was expensive. Since it was 7:30pm on New Year's Eve, I didn't think we would find a table in another restaurant so I grudgingly took the table. The food was average with my son's steak being way undercooked. When I received the bill, I was shocked. My son, who is not of legal drinking age, did not take the sparkling wine as part of the fixed price menu. Instead he asked for a Sprite as a replacement. Guess what? The restaurant charged us $2.95 for this Sprite, which was a replacement for the sparkling wine. I guess when it comes down to it, technically they can charge us for it, but to me that's just money grabbing. We saved them money by not taking the sparkling wine and the Sprite probably cost them $0.25. In addition, they tagged on 20% gratuity for a party of 3. I can understand adding gratuity for a large party as that's pretty much standard practice but not for a party of 3. What ever happened to gratuity being a reflection of the service that you receive? Again, to me, this was just money grabbing. I don't mind paying for a good meal, but in this case, I felt like money was taken from me.
We always enjoy Nonni's and usually go for breakfast or lunch. We did not realize when we booked the table that it was going to be a special menu for New Years Eve and a fixed price. I would have preferred to order off the regular menu but the food was very good and we enjoyed our night out.
New Year Eve Dinner, set menu, price fixed. The champagne cocktail was too sweet. The seafood tartlet was very good. The bread was hard and dry. The soup and salad were very good. The filet was good but the whipped potatoes were cold and there was too much sauce. The rack of lamb was fine but purple potatoes were cold and tasteless and too much sauce. The flourless chocolate cake was very good, but a bit small. The service started out very slow but picked up as the food started arriving. The table had a dirty plate on it and was wet when we were seated. Considering the price and the set menu there should have been table cloths and full place settings instead of bare table and jar of napkins and silverware. We were a table of two so the inclusion of a 20% tip was inappropriate. Based on our experience it was over priced for what was provided. Happy New Year!
My family enjoyed Nonni's Scaninavian Christmas Feast on Christmas Eve.

Great atmosphere, great service!
Got a little noisy as the labations took over at other tables celebrating.

We really enjoyed Nonni's, with wonderful food that went beyond just tasty and well prepared. I'm an enthusiastic and picky home baker and I was really impressed by the rolls that appear on every table when you sit down; perfectly proofed and flaky, with specks of herbs and just scrumptious with the butter and a sprinkling of salt. If they pay that much attention to the rolls, I knew we were in for a treat, and we were. We loved the beef carpaccio with Scandinavian touches, and enjoyed the steak and frites and even the Cobb salad (I can never turn down anything with bleu cheese). Like the rolls, the kitchen pays attention to every detail and lifts dishes past "good" to delicious and even sublime. The garlic aioli that came with the frites was one of the best I've ever had and I am an aioli freak - no ketchup for me ever! The bleu cheese dressing that came with the salad had chives in to add interest and freshness to a simple Cobb salad, which was already wonderful. Those are just a few of the details that really impressed me. Service is attentive but not overbearing, and the atmosphere is a lively and friendly, especially once this small restaurant fills up, which it probably does every single night. We will definitely return when we are back in the area, really a treasure.
Went there for dinner last night. The food was just ok, a little on the pricey side, but what made our dining experience from good to worse was the service. The waiter that came to take our order was not enthused about his job or what he was doing at all at this restaurant. He didn’t ask us if we had any questions about the menu, just took our orders and left. The whole time while we were there, he did not once come back to check on us, to see if we needed more bread or water. I would expect more for the price we paid.
