My mom and I were visiting Chicago from Boston, staying in Rosemont. We were taking Uber so we wanted something fairly close to our hotel. Nonna Silvia’s was within a few miles and had great reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed . The restaurant was busy which is always a good sign. The ambiance was great. As soon as we sat down and got settled, a waitstaff brought us water and a fresh loaf of Italian bread with oil. I got the pollo Arosto. Serving size was generous, presentation very good and it was full of flavor. My mother got the Rotolo. The taste was great, especially the cream sauce. However, the presentation was not the most appealing. Just two big logs of pasta with a peachy/pinky cream sauce poured all over it. Some fresh basil sprinkled over the top would have helped. If you can get past the presentation you will enjoy the meal. Overall we really enjoyed our visit and recommend this restaurant.
Wonderful experience. Would definitely go back. I had the lasagna and it was expertly prepared. Homemade noodles and just the right amount of layers/sauce/cheese in every bite. The calamari appetizer is also a winner.
I've been here before and every I'm here, it's pretty noisy - but I'm pretty sensitive to noise and there was a large group sitting fairly close to us and we had a group of 5. They should not put two larger groups near each other otherwise you get a lot of loud talking in one area.
I had the mussels appetizer as a main meal and it was mediocre at best - kind of fishy tasting. The bread was good and the special beet salad was excellent.
Great place for a friends get-together! The food and service are always excellent! The pastas, special entrees, and appetizers always delicious.
The service here was very friendly and prompt. Gabrielle (?) provided details about the entrees and wines that were helpful. The atmosphere on a Saturday around 5 was low key and comfortable. Food, especially the pastas, were excellent, very fresh with tasty sauces. We had a wonderful evening.
Great food, good wine. If you go earlier, you will see children. Less kids after 6:30. We went on a Sunday eve and they were a little understaffed. Hopefully not always and may have been an off night. Our waitress was smiling though and happy to bring us what we needed when we got to her.
Outstanding food. I mean excellent. Ambiance was so so, seemed to be short staffed, so waiting for drinks when we first arrived was a bit long. The noise level was quite uncomfortable. Would go back, but only because of the food quality.
All four of us enjoyed our dinner!
Really great food but my server couldn’t have been slower. There were a lot of people but there was another service in our same area that got a table in after us served and given the bill before we even ordered. 20 minutes just to get water
Warm, inviting atmosphere; welcoming, friendly staff; good, tasty food that is nicely portioned and presented.
What great food and service! I will be back.
Very busy for a Wednesday night, made the service a little slow, but our server was so nice and helpful with our many questions. Food was excellent and overall was a great experience!
We had a group of 8 after a work meeting. I saw the good reviews online so we gave it a try. I will give a mixed review. The bread served was pretty ordinary. My meal was pizza and was expecting it to be a signature dish given the Italian style restaurant. The cheese kept slipping off the crust and the crust itself was sub-par. I've had frozen pizza better than that. On the other hand, I noticed a few other people at our table had rapidly eaten their dinners(tilapia/potato dish and a salmon dish). They absolutely loved it. Said they wanted to order another plate and kept raving about how good it was. So, I guess I would recommend one of those dishes instead of the pizza.
Very noisy, suburban restaurant with mediocre food and simple service!
The food at this excellent neighborhood restaurant is reliably delicious, highlighted by the creative specials offered daily. The Wait Staff are consistently friendly and efficient, ably assisted by the bus men. We definitely recommend dining here for either lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed.
Excellent experience. Reservation was held at our requested time and we were seated promptly. Appetizers were delicious. We ordered the aranchini and grilled calamari. All four of us had excellent entrées. And shared a dessert. The red wine was excellent. The service was superb. All in all a very enjoyable evening.
We had a marvelous time at Nonna's! Delicious meatballs as an appetizer and the FRESHEST tomato sauce. The seafood was also excellent.
We went to NS's for date night on a Saturday. Me and the Squeeze made a reservation that day, arrived on time, and we were led directly to our waiting table at the side of a busy dining room. The bread was dee lish! Even though the restaurant was busy, our server was spot on, friendly, and surefooted. The bright Italian food, was super fresh, full of flavor, and it was cooked to order. I had the Rigatoni with highly seasoned tomato sauce, and the Squeeze had Veal Picatta. Exceptional! tender, flavorful, and skillfully cooked. Dessert, 3 cannoli's stuffed and rolled to order, and a shot of house made Limoncello. Aye.
This is an excellent choice for homemade quality Italian food. The wine selection is varied enough to appeal to most but not an overwhelming task of choosing a good wine. As far as food goes it does not get much better. I have dined at places woth bigger names and their food is not as good.
The service was excellent. The food outstanding. Would absolutley go back.
We enjoyed another wonderful meal. Carl was our server and he was very helpful, gregarious and fun. His wine recommendation was spot on. I enjoyed the special ravioli stuffed with short rib meat.
delicious....the ravioli was excellent as was the service
What a great find...our family gathered in Chicago for a belated birthday dinner. The whole evening was wonderful! The food, service & wine were fantastic. Thanks for a great memory!
This was our second time at Nonna's, but this time we brought our very close friends one of whom was having his birthday. They are very upscale dinners and used to the best. They loved it!
All of our lives are so busy, that when we find time to enjoy ourselves it is critical that that time energize you so that you can wake up tomorrow with a smile on your face.
Nonna's will not disappoint you! You will leave knowing your time was well spent and you will remember that evening fondly for a long time.
The service and food great. Our server, Martin was very accommodating and gave some great recommendations to some delicious dishes. I’d highly recommend going here.
I have been going here with my husband for Valentine's day and our anniversary the past 5 years. It's romantic, food is superb, and service is excellent. Highly recommend. We usually order off the special list and are never disappointed. Thanks!
This restaurant is just what is needed to reward yourself and party to a wonderful dinner after a challenging week.
Life can be nearly overwhelming sometimes, but dinner here will help make you realize it was worth it.
We will most certainly be back.
Love this neighborhood place! Food is consistently very good, service is attentive. We have dined often and used them for catering.
Always a good meal. Wait staff was exceptional and very attentive!
The menu selections were good. My double pork chop, however was extremely tough and hard to even cut through. The waitress didn't check back with us during the meal (or else I would have told her about this). I had only eaten a small portion and could eat no more. The bus person kept trying to take my plate. Finally after he asked three times, and the waitress had not been by I told him to take it but to tell the chef that the pork chop was extremely overcooked and I wasn't able to eat it. He took my plate, but I'm not sure my message ever got to the chef. Nor did he tell our waitress. When the waitress finally came after both our plates were taken by the bus boy; I explained the situation to her. But by this time it was too late to correct the situation, and my co-worker had already eaten and was ready for us to leave.
I've been dining at Nonna Silvias for a couple of years now. This unassuming local gem never disappoints. When I eat lunch I usually get the Mista salad which is amazing - warm chicken, goat cheese, greens, and a great vinaigrette. This time I was there for dinner and ordered a terrific seafood entree that came in a light tomato broth. It is very easy to overcook seafood, particularly mussels, clams, and scallops. These were done perfectly and very tender. Our service was terrific as well. If you haven't tried Nonna Silvias, you're missing out
The noise level was loud we could not hear our selves
Great neighborhood restaurant close to O’Hare. High quality fresh food with friendly service.
Our dinner and service were great. This was our second time eating here and we really enjoyed our meal. We had the grilled calamari and rice balls for an app- both were great. The calamari was lemony and amazing! For dinner we had eggplant Parmesan, linguine with clams and porcini purses. All were amazing. The service was on point!!
Cozy atmosphere and all of our food tasted great. Also some reasonable wines by the glass!
Our favorite restaurant. It is a neighborhood place but the quality of the food is beyon that level and really good. Service is always friendly and efficient.
Delicious homemade pasta and cute ambiance.
It was New Year's Eve so very busy. All things considered, pretty good for NYE.
We ate here on New Year’s Eve and had a wonderful meal! The pasta was delicious as was the eggplant dish! The service was great. Our waitress was friendly and helpful with selections. And the atmosphere was cheerful and friendly. It was a great way to end the year!
Happy New Year! My dad is in the hospital down the street, and we wanted someplace to take my 86-year old mom for early NYE dinner. Nonna Silvia’s food is always outstanding, with sane portion sizes! Rachel and the whole waitstaff are tops!
