Nonna Rosa's Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
Cozy dining spot in Robbinsdale with a great authentic menu. Service was exceptional and the food we ordered (with recommendations from our server) was impressive and plentiful. Nice wine list and great coffee after dinner. This was our first visit to Nonna Rosa’s and we’ll probably make it one of regular dinner spots!
After several times being at Nonna Rosa this time was a real bummer. The special was very small piece of fish and the Alfredo sauce with the fettuccine was very Bland. The description of the specials by the waitress was very weak, the food that came out after ordering the special was much different than she described
Overall the experience was good. We had to wait about 15 minutes with our reservation. The tables are too close and the people behind us were very loud. The menu does not list items where is comes with Parmesan cheese. I had to return my dish. The waitress assumed I knew it came with cheese. I am not sure how I would have known that if not clearly stated on the menu. That is important to know if any allegies. Anyway they promptly gave me a new dish without the cheese. My husband's seafood pasta sauce was too watery. The bread was very dry and should be served with olive oil which would make it better. They also ran out of the first dish my husband had chosen. We had been there once in the past and had forgotten about the place. We may be back, but is not my first choice for authentic Italian food.
This was our second visit to Nonna Rosa's. My wife and I both ordered the Veal Parm. We were seated next to the kitchen area where the noise and bright ceiling lights were distracting. The waitress was very pleasant and engaging, although "warned" me that my special request for penne instead of spaghetti might be ignored by the kitchen (apparently no special requests on Friday or Saturday unless related to allergy). Hard to believe penne was a difficult request. The bread was disappointing - very dry with no real texture and minimal crust. If you told me it was gluten free I would have believed it. The salad was limp with one slice of greenish tomato, one slice of cucumber, and lettuce that was past it's prime. Finally the veal was very thin and overcooked, although the sauce was flavorful and there was plenty of cheese. Our experience several months ago was much better.
The food was pretty good. My husband order the carbonara, which was much better than my seafood cannelloni. I liked mine but it needed a little something extra. It was a bit bland. The bruschetta was super fresh and delicious! The server seemed overwhelmed and took awhile to take care of our bill. If we were to return, I would try something other than the cannelloni.
Overall, it was a nice experience.
Great food and service as always. We were here for my husbands birthday. We have our favorites here, but tried some of their specials this time. Lamb was flavorful, tender and well presented. I had their Mediteranean risotto with scallops. It was perfectly prepared, a large portion, that reheated well for lunch the next day.
We wanted to sit outdoors and enjoy a beautiful evening so we tried it. Patio is great. Service was a 2 on scale of 1-5. Not the servers fault. The 2 of them were busting it. They clearly don't have enough help. The spaghetti was delicious. My husband had the clam, scallop combination. He thought it was great. We'd go back if the service was better. Not going to wait 20 minutes for a glass of wine. If the owners can kick it up a notch, wr'lll return. Too many choices to succumb to long wait time to spend money. Sorry.
We have been to Nonna Rosa's a handful of times in the past, but this was the first time with a Groupon. I have nine years of serving experience under my belt, so when I made the reservation with "booster seat" and "groupon" in the notes I told my husband, I'm sure they're not looking forward to us coming. I was hoping I'd be wrong, but the service was certainly not as good as our previous visits. We sat around for quite a while after we were finished with our entrees, anxious to leave.
Also we paid over $17 dollars for a kids pasta and chocolate milk for our 2 year old, so if you're on a budget, I'd maybe grab a happy meal across the parking lot instead.
Made an open table reservation online, noting we were coming for our anniversary. We came with another couple who was excited for the veal. Upon arriving at 6:30 on Sat evening, we were told they were out of veal, large scallops and the meat special. Very poor planning. No offers to make up for lack of food, nothing done for our anniversary meal. Had the angel hair garlic shrimp and it was average. Husband did not want to finish his food, said it was like Chef Boyardee. Quiet at the restaurant, but there was not many people there. We would not return.
We tried Nonna Rosas for the first time on a Saturday nite. We were seated right away but it was at least 5 to 8 minutes before a server came to take a drink order. After this, the drinks took at least 20 minutes, 2 glasses of wine and one tap beer. The server came to take our food order, we then asked were the drinks were. She said there was a glass issue. We finally got our drinks and shortly after got our food orders. 2 of the entrees were very good, the chicken marsala had little flavor. So its hard to rate this place. . So I would try it again. THey may need more servers or order more glasses. THey need to pay more attention to the tables.
We would classify ourselves as regulars to Nonna Rosa. Unfortunately our experience was extremely poor. Food was excellent but the worst service of any place we have ever been!!! We will be reluctant to return as a result. Customers are the reason these establishments exist! Service and food quality need to be exceptional when you present high priced limited menu items.
Having dined here before we were surprised with our poor experience. The restaurant was too HOT, the manager sat at the bar or addressing staffing concerns in the middle of rhe place, and the cook was trying to start verbal fights with the waitresses. Two appetizers were fabulous as was the lasagna, but the fett alfredo was weak.
This was our second visit to Non Rosa's and more impressed on our first visit. This time My chicken marsala was very good but lack enough sauce/mushrooms. The breast was small and came with a large amount of pasta. My wife's pork mediterraneo was just plain mediocre.
We Loved Nonna Rosa's! Our meals were delicious, the staff was wonderful and we were able to get a great table outside! Tina, Francesco, Josephine and everyone made us feel like family. If you want a delicious plate of pasta or wonderful fresh fish or seafood it is a must.
