Nonna Mia Cafe & Pizzeria Ratings and Reviews
Terrible service. Long time waiting for food and drinks. I asked for extra dressing on my beet salad (that wasn't very good), and I was charged extra I noticed on my receipt. Firstly the salad had a drizzle on the beets only. The spinach was dry so I wanted a little more. Waiter should have been forthcoming with that information
I will never be back.
Made a visit to Nonna during our visit to NOLA. The options were great and the food was good. I'd come back to try other dishes. Despite the extremely friendly host that helped us find a parking spot, the service was poor to fair. They seemed to have plenty of staff to keep things moving, but lots of confusion. Walked out paying premium. Worth giving another shot, I think.
Had a reservation and the table was ready on time. Right after we were seated a table that I preferred became available and they moved us without any fuss. It was a first date, so that was nice. Drinks were good and we did not want to be rushed and the waitress was available but not hovering. That was also nice. We got a couple of appetizers, and an the hot olives/oil/bread and the shrimp and the roasted beets salad. All f this was great. We Also got the meatballs entrée which was good but the apps were better. Cheese cake was decent and overall it was a good meal and a great experience.
We had our 1 year old with us and were looking for a place without a wait on a Saturday night. We were coming from City Park and found Nona Mia on open table. Pleasantly surprised by this place. Food was wonderful all the way around, it wasn't very crowded, and the service was great. I will definitely visit Nona Mia again.
We were looking for Italian food far from the madding Mardi Gras crowds...this little cafe in Mid-City was just the ticket. The waitress and other diners tried to steer us to the pizzas, but we were in the mood for pasta and were very happy with our choices...the meatballs were especially good. We sat at a cozy little table in the window looking out on the Esplanade street scene. We'll definitely go back...and make sure we order some pizza, too...and check out the wine list.
I have been to Nonna Mia at least 5 times since it has opened and usually am very pleased with my experience. My last trip however left me a little disappointed. The food was great like always but the service was lacking. Our waiter basically took our order and was not present for most of our meal. He did not anticipate the guests needs and we had to ask for items that should be expected with our meal (saucers for coffee cups, red pepper, parmesan cheese). Plenty of other staff walked by our table and did not acknowledge us when it was obvious we needed something for our table since we were not eating and trying to make eye contact with every person that walked by. We were ignored until our waiter came back and smelled like cigarettes
This place has one of my favorite neighborhood places to go for pizza and the patio is awesome. Monday and Tuesday half price bottles of wines make it worth the trip alone. Go on a Monday or other food or Tuesday to eat pizza and half priced wine well worth it and also great a t day of the week . .
My nieces and I visit New Orleans several times a year and we always have at least one meal at Nonna Mia's on Esplanade Avenue near the Quarter. We found it by accident and go back for the food and the dessert! Try the special chocolate torte. It's OMG good!
On Esplanade Avenue you can dine outside at Nonna Mia and enjoy the rare cool and dry(er) weather we seldom get in New Orleans.
The Pizza is very good as are the entrees. I go for the Pizza. The Margherita Pizza is always delicious with a crispy, but not too crispy, crust. The waiters and waitresses are a little different but that's why I like the place. New Orleans ambience at it's best.
